    brisket platter
    El P.

summary: a kind of gritty brewery with a LOT of local events and BBQ/sandwich type of food being served. Service was very nice and food was okay. Cute little spot tucked away in Berkeley Springs. From a food standpoint, they serve lots of BBQ-style options and I opted for the brisket platter. The brisket was good, but the other sides and fixins were kind of mediocre at best. The drinks were also ok, but nothing too memorable (they have mainly ales and a few other types like lagers and sours). It looks like they have a lot of cool events though, so I can see it being a popular hangout spot for friends. It was overall a pleasant experience where I felt like the food/drinks were probably around 3/5, but the service brought my score up to 4.

Overall: super kind staff, indoor/outdoor seating, okay beer, and okay food, with a single stall restroom, 1 booster seat and 1 high chair Loved: welcoming and kind staff, small kids play area, jump around IPA, snallygaster sour Everything else was just okay. We tried 8 different beers in the flights. We had a pretzel, pork slider kids meal, turkey sandwich, and brisket. Nothing on the menu or that we ate really stood out. Nothing was bad but it wasn't really good either.

    Outside flight...miss my dog!

3 - Good choice if you're in the area. Skip to the end for my rating scale. If you've read any of my other brewery reviews, you know my top three considerations are outdoor seating (meaning it's dog friendly), convenient food choices, and of course the quality of the beer. Berkeley Springs Brewing has the earthy/rustic/industrial feel that I find comfortable. It does have a decent sized dog friendly side area with wooden picnic tables. Our bartender was great...not in-your-face bubbly, but just the right amount of friendly and knowledgable. They have a built-in kitchen which is another big plus. I didn't get to eat there, but it all looked appetizing. The beer missed the mark though. I got a flight of four, and none of them convinced me to get a full pint. Since we were staying close by and the food looked pretty tasty I don't regret our choice to visit, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to get a beer here. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

A super cool brewery with a great staff. I stopped by here recently with my girlfriend to sample out some of their beers and we weren't disappointed with them by any means. The vibes here seemed to be more like a bar than a brewery but I get it since there isn't much around this area. We rolled up to this place after hitting up another local brewery and it's sorta off the beaten path but that makes it even better. It's right across from Coofont Resort which looks to be a decent little place to rent a cabin and get into some outdoors fun. The brewery sits back off of the road so keep an eye out for the sign. The parking lot is pretty rough so if you have a nice car you should be careful and drive through it slowly. The building itself is rustic and the interior aesthetics is similar and nicely done plus it's very spacious. They have picnic like tables, tables & chairs, barstools at the bar, and bar tables & barstools. They also have a nice outdoor area with picnic tables to enjoy your drinks and food during those nice days. The bartender/server was nice and helpful. Thank you for the good service :) We ordered: Seasonal Shandy: Lemonade and light craft beer (5/5) Snallygaster Sour: Sour - Fruited / 5% ABV (5/5) Stonewall IPA: IPA - American / 7.4% ABV (5/5) We didn't get a chance to try any of their food because we had already ate at another brewery prior to coming here and weren't hungry but what we did see others eating looks very appetizing. Next time! This is a great spot and we'll be back the next time we are in the area this summer. Cheers ;)

Where to begin?? Thought this place seemed interesting and close by, who doesn't like a good brewery. I can't speak about the beer so don't read on if you're here for the beer. The menu looked ok but a few red flags. No ribs, 1/4lb burgers for $16, you can read the menu below. I was craving some smoked brisket chili and my wife loves spinach and artichoke dip. We opened with that but did not put in a main. So happy I did not! On the menu the chili has smoked brisket, ground beef and a list of other ingredients and lovely spices. Heck no, this is what could only be described a hamburger soup! Literally cook a hamburger and breat the Patti up into 4 big chunks and throw it in. Horrible, no flavor, no chili flavor at all, no brisket?? Chunks of hamburger floating in water with a few black beans around. I mean not even broke up chunks and no flavor!!! The spinach' dip was almost warm but definitely from Sysco but the wife said maybe feta swirled in, I did not taste that and the chips were stale. The worst food I ever had in WV. That said I was done but she was hungry. When the waitress came back ( she was lovely and kind ) I asked " is the brisket moist and juicy? She takes a long pause and says well it's about 85% lean and 15% fat. I continue with "can the chef cut me some meat off the fatty side? She replied oh there not cutting brisket now, they cut it in the morning. Enough said no thank you, baby what would you like? We ask what they smoke here and she tells us the chicken, turkey, pork and brisket. We go safe with the 1/4lb of turkey and some of their home made apple butter bbq sauce and a side of Mac n cheese. The plate comes and the turkey has no smoke flavor. Just two slices of deli turkey that we bury in bbq sauce. The Mac n cheese is again cool. Probably right out of the box. Just horrible food plane and simple. The only ok thing I had was some homemade root beer that was not even bubbling and heavily flavored with vanilla. Don't waste your money or taste buds here hopefully the beer is great... Please read the description of the brewery brisket chili aka hamburger soup "Great Depression style". One other thing to mention is that the name of the establishment on yelp is not the same as on the menu. The chili should be called "Bath Water chili".

Cozy mountain town bar feel. Food was very average. We were recommended to pay this place a visit by another local business owner, claiming it was the best food in town. Safe to say we enjoyed many other meals elsewhere during our visit to Berkeley Springs. French onion soup was very watery, lacking flavor. Brisket mac and cheese was nothing to call home about and our soft pretzel came out cold. Luckily our server graciously took care of us. Perhaps it was just an off night.

As I waited outside my husband went to tell them we need an outside table due to small dog. He returned to say we could bring her INSIDE! Wow she was so welcomed and they even had doggie dinners and desserts!

Get excited; this brewery and barbecue meets country tavern expectations, starting with delicious barbecue options(brisket, chicken etc), sides(corn bread, collared greens etc) and many home brewed beers + homemade alcoholic concoctions, it will not disappoint. For someone who is not looking for barbecue or alcohol; do not worry! I like barbecue but was looking for a low-carb meal and I got that with a barbecue chicken salad that had many veggies( could easily have been modified to be vegetarian or vegan). They also have mocktails, a DIY barbecue platter menu, a pup menu and a kids menu. The experience is even better with a helpful and cheery waiting staff along with sometimes live music(we got an amazing country singer, Joe Clark). This place is also only kid and dog friendly with a large outdoor picnic area, a lot of gravel area and surrounding woods for dogs and kids to play, additionally they accept dogs into their restaurant. Overall it is a great place where you get some good barbecue and vibes for a decent price.

Arrived with friends to enjoy a final get together as we finished our 3 day class. The place had a nice atmosphere and we were looking forward to a nice meal. Beverages were quick to arrive, however the Diet Coke was flat and had very little ice for both me and friend. We knew this because the refill was carbonated and had ice. The food came out pretty quick, which was very nice. So everyone at our table started in on their food. I took a taste of my coleslaw and was a bit perplexed as to no prominent flavor whatsoever in the slaw aside from perhaps celery seed. My friend had the same coleslaw and we both agreed there was really no flavor whatsoever. So I moved onto the cooked greens and they were also quite interesting as you could tell there was a smoky bacon flavor to them, but the amount of salt was astronomical, and I asked my friend to try it, and she was taken aback by the amount of salt and off flavor. I moved onto the smoked brisket, which had a good smoke, but was a bit dry, but good bark around the edge. However, the (extra $) apple butter barbecue sauce helped with the dryness of the meat. It did seem a little light in weight for $10 compared to other BBQ joints but it was ok nonetheless. Then I went to the cornbread, which had no butter with it and was cold so I'm not sure how that took place but it did taste good. Next were the chips and pickle, along with the onion. Coming from several authentic Texas barbecue locations where they have pickles, onions, and such to go with their meat. I thought I could ask for some red onions, but little did I know that there was a cost for the four thin slivers of onion that arrived on my tray which you can see on the picture which ended up costing me $.50. I was also charged for chips and pickle, but no pickle arrived and the server was so busy that by the time she got back around to us it seemed like too much of a bother to ask about it so I just let it go. The last issue was the $.50 for the 2 ounce soufflé cup of BBQ Sauce. Why is everything extra that should be included in pricing? I'm glad I didn't ask for anything else as I was never informed as yo the additional costs when ordering. Lastly, the table next to us that was with our group had ordered two warm chocolate chip cookies, which we thought were not going to arrive. While we were in the midst of checking out trying to get the server over because she was swamped so that we could pay our bill these cookies arrived as a shock to the table. The young ladies that enjoyed the cookies were not very impressed with the flavor or consistency. I hope my experience was not the norm and that due to the heavy volume of customers and limited staff that some of these issues took place. I did add the bbq sauce to slaw to try and add flavor but it didn't help. So I gave our server my tray and finished my soda. I was hoping for so much more than just ok quality protein from the smoker.

The beer is great. Lots of sours on tap, which were creative and solidly fruited. The other beer crossed all lanes: reds, browns, IPAs. The reds were excellent too. The customer service is great as well. Very friendly and helpful. What pushes this over the top is the food. Huge portions of delicious BBQ. Will definitely go back.

I've been here a few times before. My wife and I fell in love with this place the first time we were here. The owner is personable, friendly and enjoys his work. You can tell by the way he carries himself. And his wife is right next to him. With her own smile. All that said, the real reason for coming is the beer. This place has much to offer. On the menu are a Belgian white, a seasonal lager, Kolach, Hefeweizen, Irish red, stouts, IPAs, and a porter. I ask you to find that much of a choice in any other brewery and walk out angry. It cannot be done. For today I had tastes of the pumpkin, harvest ale and lager, before settling on the lager. TBH we came for the Hefeweizen but they just ran out. If you are looking for a brewery stop in please, and leave me a response.

When me and my girlfriend take road trips or mini vacations we try to hit up every brewery in that area and/or surrounding areas. On a recent birthday trip to Rocky Gap Resort that my sweet and beautiful girlfriend arranged for us we stopped in here during the early evening last week. As we pulled up I liked the whole aesthetics of this place. So we walked in and the place was pretty busy for an early Sunday evening but I believe it was because of the musicians that were scheduled to play. I noticed a lot of cool metal art which I later found out the owner created. That's awesome! We immediately walked up to the bar and ordered a couple of beers. - Shanty Irish Red Ale for my gf 4/5 - Iron Bird Hazy IPA for me 5/5 As we were enjoying our beers the people next to us received a food order and I looked at my girlfriend and said that pizza looks good. She replied, You want me to get us one? I giggled because she is a foodie like me lol. So we looked over the menu and decided on a 10" cheese pizza with mushrooms & jalapeños and a small order of chicken bites with honey mustard. So after about 10 minutes our buzzer went off and my gf walked up to get our food. We really enjoyed every bit of the pizza and chicken bites. Thank you! - Pizza 4/5 - Chicken Bites 4/5 While we were eating our food there were two people who started playing music and this is why this place gets 4 not 5 stars. Not because the musicians weren't good but because a place this size should never have people playing music so loud that you can't even have a normal conversation without saying huh or yelling. One of the two owners came over and asked if I'd like another beer and I could barely hear her and then the other owner came over and introduced himself to us and talked to us for about 5 minutes or so about the brewery, business, art, etc. and we could barely hear him and some things he said we couldn't make out, which sucks because I would have loved to chat with him without a loud distraction. Seemed like a very interesting and knowledgeable man. Next time my guy. Listen, I'm a huge brewery person and this brewery has great vibes and everything you could want to enjoy while visiting one but having musicians with amps blasting inside no longer makes it what makes breweries great and then turns into a bar. The whole reason of going to a brewery is to enjoy good beer, good food, and good conversation and that's impossible with music blasting. You can either be a bar or a brewery but you can't be both. Light music or acoustic would be much better in my opinion and my opinion should matter because I've been to hundreds of breweries across the United States. Either way the beer was good and the food was too. We will be back soon. Thanks for creating a nice and welcoming space. Sláinte

Vibrissa Beer - Avocado toast, home fries, and "tofu scramble"... $5 for crumbled, wet, unseasoned tofu... The home fries didn't taste seasoned either.

Maybe 12 people seated in the entire room. Took our seats... we were approached after 10 mins. Menus. Waited another 10 minutes. Bartender asks for our order. We ordered our food and he responded, "I wanted your drink order". Really?! Ordered four glasses of water and two apps. We asked for one app to be divided on two plates, bartender said "I'm not gonna do that. They're (kitchen) busy". We sucked down our food and water, asked for the check twice due to being on a time constraint. Dude never acknowledged. My husband finally stopped the bartender, asked for his name. "Brian/Bryan" while walking away. We left enough cash on the bar to cover our bill with a generous tip just so we could get out of there. Worse dining experience we've had an extremely long time. Bryan/Brian's attitude was nothing shy of being inconvenienced. Won't ever return!

Alesatian Brewery is located in the Olde Town section of Winchester VA. It is not easy to find…read morefrom the walkway, it is a single door next to Roma Old Town Wood Fired Pizzeria. I passed it twice. AND, the funniest part is you have to enter through the pizzeria, make a right, go through another door and then up the stairs. When we walked through the other door at the top of the stairs,, it was like walking into a disco. Funk/Disco music jamming in the background, disco ball... taking me back to my rollerblading days. It is a small venue with limited seating, but they do have a full menu including apps, salads and pizza. Everything you'd need to pair with your beer. Impressive! What was most exciting was the flights. THREE 8 oz. Pours for a whopping $12 bucks. Can you say, "Winning!" The BEER: Well... Ya Know Belgian Ale 6.8% ABV... it was a little more hoppy than I am used to in a Belgian, still quite good. Reminded me of Unholy by Coppertial Gen 2 Indian Pale Ale 7.4% ABV... a solid IPA, slightly hoppy and citrusy. LUV IT Hazy Mindset hazy IPA 8.1% ABV... hazy citrus delicious and to be over 8%, you'd never know it. FIRE! Loka Koko coconut Stout 6.7% ABV... semi sweet chocolate and coconut. Like a dark chocolate almond joy. GREAT! Fish Face Meher lemon sour 8% ABV... it had a different taste, it was okay. Life on Marzen lager 6.1% ABV... absolutely awful! Down Unda IPA 7.1% ABV... if you don't like Life on Marzen, you will hate this. Most of the beer was awesome. The service was top notch. They had 2 people managing the bar and they were very attentive. Even for our table in the corner. Didn't get to try the food on this visit, but I will return.

I love the vibe and energy of this place, modern yet vintage! Looks like it was an old church in days gone by? The place is pretty big and pretty wide open so I imagine can become loud when it gets full. I ordered a rose from a local winery and the burger. (I was hangry). I took my number and sat wherever I wanted. I sat in front of a giant tv on the wall with pre superbowl stuff going on. My wine came out quickly, it was very nice! The burger came out next, it had cheese, lettuce, tomato and a bacon jam that was just right! The burger was juicy and I loved every bite of it! The burger came with fries that were very hot and crispy!! Zero complaints!!
