My appt was scheduled the middle of November, more than a month ago. I was called today, Dec 15. two days before my appt and advised I needed a referral from my primary doctor before this appt could take place. Not sure why I wasn't advised at the time of the booking or at least more then two days before the appt. read more

Receptionist was amazing , welcoming and friendly (10/10). The assistant was very nice and gentle with my child but when it came to Dr. Miller I didn't feel the same energy as the other staff. I know it might not be his specialty to deal with kids but if I go to a doctor and I'm answering more medical questions than the doctor and mind you he hasn't even looked at my child eyes yet, I don't feel like he even tried until I brought it up. So disappointing . Receptionist was amazing , welcoming and friendly (10/10). I spent the last few years going to Americas Best for my eye exams. Worst mistake of my life. I thought that I could not afford Berkly. I was so incredibly wrong. I am very, very grateful for the staff at the Tomball location very informative, very courteous and the staff at the Katie location amazing I had cataract surgery done on the 25th for my left eye. I was a nervous wreck. They kept me calm. I didn't even know, it was gonna be I can't wait to get my eye done now. I'm going to tell everyone how amazing Berkly is. read more

Not a great experience, but I did end up with a glasses and contact prescription. I have pretty poor vision and have worn corrective lenses since 8 years of age, and am familiar with many of the nuances and processes involved. Often times I get the sense that eye doctors do not give me the treatment or attention my vision requires simply because I am "young and healthy". That was absolutely the impression I got with this clinic. I worked with my old eye doctor and my insurance to transfer historical records and paperwork over to make sure they filed correctly. With my vision, my insurance covers a bit more than the average Joe for medical reasons. This doctor had no idea what was covered and made no effort to understand, despite bringing in the information from my insurance and having my old eye doctor fax them all of their old records (which I've never had to do before). When I was ready to leave they charged me a rate which did not match up with what my insurance said they covered (and yes this place is in network) nor did it match up with what the technician mentioned would cost extra. At this point I was so frustrated and disappointed with the experience I didn't bother pressing the matter. I did ask the receptionist I was paying what the cost breakdown was but she wasn't sure. I had a great eye doctor up in Austin who always did a thorough exam and would talk to me about what he was seeing, what he was doing, and what I needed to pay attention to. The doctor I saw here did none of that and was in and out of the room in less than 5 minutes. I will not be using this office again, would not recommend it, and will make the trek back up to Austin until I can find something local. read more

I have been going to Berkerley Eye center since I was a teenager. The customer service is excellent and everyone there are always helpful. Miss Liz from the contact lens department is awesome. We've had to call her last minute to order more contact lenses and she has always helped us get the order in asap. Miss Julie from the front desk is the sweetest. She's good about answering your questions and insurance coverage. The optometrist are excellent and very thorough. They've also taken care of my elderly mom with her vision and was also there as patient for years. They sent me a nice card when my mom past away. Thank you for your wonderful service. read more

With Covid running through the country, they put into place strict measures by asking questions at the door, checking temps, requiring masks, etc. They had me sit in a chair and as soon as I got up, they sanitized it for the next patient. After my exam was completed, I went to purchase sunglasses. They had to order them. When they came in, I expected to go back to the office to pick them up. They however wanted the least amount of people in the office and shipped them to me at no charge. I appreciate their dedication to open and see patients and being mindful of the pandemic. read more

The people there are very nice but I won't be back. I felt the need to share their lack of knowledge to avoid much frustration. I purchased progressive lens glasses to read & work on the computer all day. The reading portion of the lens were so low, I had to hold them up to read anything. I went back and they remade them, supposedly raising that portion. Couldn't tell a difference except for the flaw in the left lens. I called again, but agreed to continue 'adjusting' and keeping them high on my nose. I tried but gave up. Had to go back to OTC readers, which were better but not great. Reason I went in to begin with. Just returned from my sister's. She had ordered glasses online & was having the same issue. One call & they said it was the larger size frame she'd chosen placing the reading section too low. They offered to remake in a smaller frame for free. I am very disappointed in Berkeley for not knowing this & advising me properly. GOGGLES4U my choice at 1/3rd the cost. read more

Had my annual eye checkup done today at Berkeley Eye Center in Tomball, The staff is always professional and courteous. The staff I would like to recognize today is the receptionist (sorry I cant remember her name but I am getting old, Jennifer, the nurse, Elizabeth, the contact lens rep, the check out lady - again, I can't remember her name. Because I am getting older and forgetfull, I really appreciate the way the staff at the Tomball location treats me with respect and dignity. Finally, I would like to recognize Doctor Miller who answers questions and makes you feel as if you matter. He remembered that he saw me last year when I mentioned how much I liked him. I didn't remember him but again this is the type of place this is. I highly recommend using Berkeley Eye Center in Tomball and wish I could have given them 10 stars!!!!! read more

It does not pain me at all to give this place one lonely star. And they only get that star for the nice receptionist. I had an awful experience here from getting my eyes examined to the fees. I waited til after I had an examination at another office just to more easily highlight how bad my experience was. The new office was as different as day and night. First off, examination: I have never....ever...ever ever ever had an eye examination that was not OD administered. Do I look like I would want my Rx determined by a technician type? Sorry but no. 85% of my exam was done by this lady and it wasn't even remotely as thorough as the one I had by an actual optometrist yesterday. Really no surprise there! The other 15% of the "exam" was done by the little short doctor. Short in statue, short in bedside manner. He was rude and chastising me for my lack of using glasses and being in contacts too long. OK give me the speech but you're an optometrist, not my Pa. He didn't do any of the standard things you'd expect an OD to do; maybe looked in my pupils a bit I don't recall much more than that, telling me the Rx and of course, the chastising. This is where it gets interesting. The nice receptionist failed to mention they have a $140 contact fitting fee. Why I have never seen a fee that outrageous in my dealings. Frankly in general, I believe the fee is semi-trash but then you charge something like that and not tell me upfront. They told me I'd have to pay roughly $175 with the extra service I requested to walk out of there with a Rx. I was very upset and it was made worse by some chick implying what kind of options I could utilize or come back later if I couldn't "afford" the fee. Baby when I tell you, you might would have caught me on the news because I wanted to come across that table on her. I have insurance which for most ppl right off the bat lets you know I have a job. Do I look like I can't afford that fee? Newsflash honey, sometimes it's about principle!!! Especially with not being comfortable with that 'technician' script anyway. And to know there is an OD where I have gone in the past and the entire exam + fitting is $120 no insurance. Humph...I'm good on Berkley FOR LIFE...definitely this location with the rude optometrist! read more

Sadly, I can't even review the services provided at the Berkeley Eye Center, because I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELLED. On June 22, I called and made an appointment for July 14. I work full-time during the week, so I was happy they provided Saturday hours. I looked at many local vision centers and chose BEC because of their reputation. I even told me husband that it made the most sense to go to an optometry center that has a nice facility and high-quality equipment. I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes early, as directed. The doors were locked. I waited since the hours on their door listed an 8:30am opening time. By 8:40am, no one was inside, and the doors were still locked. I called the office phone and was transferred to an answering service. The representative's records also showed that they were open on Saturdays (just as the website listed). She took down my name and number and said she would call the on-call employee. I never heard back from the rep. At 8:50am, I called the office again and left a voicemail. I looked up the hours for Monday when I got home, and I expected to get a call within the first 30 minutes they were open. This morning, no one called me back. At 11:00am, I called, and the woman said, "Oh, is this Lindsay? I'm sorry I didn't call you back yet." The office had been open for 2.5 hours, and she didn't have time to return a phone call from a disgruntled patient? That is incredibly disrespectful and only proved that as a patient, I would not be worth their time. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. She went on to tell me that their records show that a message was left for me on June 26 to cancel. Unsolicited, she said, "I don't know why no one called again until we contacted you. We should have called until we reached you or heard back from you. All I can tell you is I'm sorry." I never received the supposed cancellation message, and with the lack of service this morning, I'm wondering if that cancellation call was actually made. I will not be rescheduling with Berkeley Eye Center. What a terrible experience, both on Saturday and this morning (when I had to initiate a call to THEM after they had been open for 2.5 hours). Schedule at your own risk. Their service seems like a gamble to me. read more

I like this place a lot. All the employees are friendly, capable,well trained and not a sullen one in the bunch. It's clear they all like their jobs. The Doctor took his time with me and answered all my questions fully. He wasn't exasperated acting when I asked him to "do that again" (i.e. "does this look better....or THIS??) Ty is still in the glasses fitting department (low employee turnaround in that place - a good sign). You'll get great service with Ty. She's amazing, very professional. The front office girls were so nice and friendly. This Berkeley location is the place for me and my family. read more

I am very disappointed to say the least with the level of customer service at the Berkeley Eye Center in Tomball Texas. I reached out to the Center via phone and via fax several timesf or three days so that I could have a medical release form sent to me. I spoke to three different receptionists and they all stated they would send the fax over. I also faxed my request twice and never received a reply or the form that was needed. I called your office today and it was closed at 12:00. I have a scheduled appointment with an ophthalmologist for tomorrow. But they wont have my records. Shame on you for the poor customer service. Going forward I will not recommend this office. I realize your office gets busy, but dont tell the patient you are going to send it right away and it was never sent. I was very impressed from my first phone call to the receptionist. She was so nice and professional and it was very easy to find an appointment that worked with my schedule. She listened to my problem and explained to me it would be best to see if my prescription had changed since my last eye exam. I was extremely happy with Dr.Reid and his staff members.
