Blended Frappuccino
Priya C.

Came here on a Thursday afternoon, not too busy to order but there were a lot of people studying inside! Very cozy and open, not stuffy at all. Staff were very friendly and efficient! We got our orders within 5 mins! We were both craving a Frappuccino, so we got a white mocha (right on pic) and reg mocha (left) both with soy milk. They have one sub milk option, which is soy. It was pretty good, and frothy on top. Also the perfect amount of sweetness (not intensely sweet but not too bitter either)! Overall, great price for coffee ($5)! I would come back for a study session and try their seasonal options!

This was my first time at this coffee shop as we were visiting Berkeley. I love visiting local spots. This seem to be a very popular destination a lot of patrons on laptops and enjoying coffee they had pastries, not much for gluten-free but everything else I had an iced coffee With sugar-free vanilla and half-and-half. It was a good coffee.

What a great friendly place! They have inside and outside seating with a super chill vibe. The staff is friendly and funny. I love that! We ordered a cappuccino and matcha latte to drink. They are both top quality products. Love when I can taste the true matcha flavor! Their pastries are satisfying but wouldn't write home about it.

Best Ever service, I had a iced white mocha and it tastes amazing! The vibe is really calm and definitely will come again, and i recommend this place to anyone in the Bay Area!! , I also really recommend this place to study since the vibe is very calm and quiet!

Quick Summary - Plenty of chairs and tables to sit - Coffee isn't sour I was attracted to the coffee place by its name and also the delicious coffee pictures that appeared in this account's photo. Although I would have wanted to try the white mocha, for the first round I decided to order my usual latte. My relative ordered the mocha. We both ate a large meal before visiting here, so we weren't looking for snacks to fill up. The latte was delicious; it was my type of coffee. The bitterness was comforting and there was no sourness in each sip. The temperature was perfect too, piping hot the whole way. There are seats inside the cafe and some lined along the exterior walls. The seats are evenly "socially spaced" out, so I felt comfortable sitting and drinking coffee.

We were able to find a parking spot in their lot right away and there was only one party ahead of us in line. I ordered their October special -- a sauerkraut hand-rolled bagel ($3.75), while my wife ordered a sesame bagel with black garlic cream cheese ($2.75 + $2.75). The bagels here are seriously incredible and probably some of the freshest ones I've had. The outside of my sauerkraut bagel had a wonderful crackly, crunch to it, while the inside had the perfect amount of chew and denseness to it. The black garlic cream cheese I had a bite of was creamy, not grainy, and was loaded up on the bagel. They definitely do no skimp here! I really liked how prominent the black garlic flavor was: so much umami. Bageltopia is definitely up there along with Hella Bagel for my top bagel spots in East Bay.

I had strictly been planning my visit to California around the best places to eat around the city and this place is my greatest discovery. The sunshine bagel with the vegan cream cheese rocked my world beyond any description. The cucumbers were sliced so thinly and so crisp. It was a dream come true upon my taste buds. My friend who enjoys lox bagels from time to time said it was probably one of the top bagels she had ever eaten across the country. The atmosphere is very Californian and transplant friendly. The service was quick simple and the food was spectacular. Everybody in that place loved their bagels. It felt like a bagel dream come true! I mean the various cream cheese options to the delicious deliciously made fresh bagels daily. My only complaint is that there wasn't a public restroom.

OK, OK, so I initially rated at 3 stars because of the prepared sandwiches I received, and the way…read morethey packaged my order, but after having the bagels I upped my rating to 5 stars because, well, they are fantastic. They are a little smaller than some of the other bagels in the area, but that isn't a problem for me. Why? Because they are so delicious. The exterior has some chew and is on the edge of crispy and the interior is dense with a good bite but not dry or hard. The combo of the exterior and the interior is better than any other bagel I've had in my 31 years of living in California. When my husband came home from work and had one of these bagels, he couldn't believe how good it was. This was yesterday, and we already put in an order for a dozen bagels, which we are hoping turns out to be a baker's dozen, to be picked up today. The exterior of these bagels, which are boiled, as any authentic bagel should be, is a little craggy, and the toppings are not afterthoughts, they are GOOD. I never liked everything bagels, but the everything bagels here made me a believer. The salt bagels are special, too. They are not loaded with salt on the exterior, but they seem to have little salty bits inside the bagel, or just inside the exterior. I'm not sure exactly how they do this, but there's a little salt in each bite, If I ever order from them again, in terms of delivery, I personally would not get the sandwiches that involve heat, because when they're wrapped, the texture of the bagel is altered. They more or less steam in their wrapping. And I'd probably not get delivery of cold sandwiches because the wrapping and the time it takes to deliver them result in changed bagel texture, too. They offer home delivery, and I'll take advantage of that, or just order and pick up, because that's just better for the business, financially, and it's easier on my wallet, too. They have some interesting spreads there, different from many of the other places, so I'll try a few of those, but I always have cream cheese at home, ditto lox, and all kinds of toppings, so most of the time I am going to just lay in a bunch of their bagels! Below is my first review. -------- I consider three stars average, and they are specifically for the sandwiches, the bacon, egg and cheese, and the lox and cream cheese. So I ordered both extra toasted, and neither had any crispiness when they arrived. Although the lox bagel was open face and had no heat to it, that sandwich, too, was on a bagel that seemed like it hadn't been toasted, that's how soft it was. I had to check to see that it was toasted at all, and I could see that it was. For the price, there was little lox on there, and it looks like more because they put the tomato slice under the lox and the sandwich was kind of wet, so the lox got washed out. The bacon, egg and cheese was good. The egg was well done, more like a patty instead of fluffy, but that was OK. I prefer the eggs being fluffy, but the whole sandwich was nice, the bacon was generous. I think it only had one egg, the cheese was good, and I got it with chili crisp cream cheese, which was interesting. I also got six bagels, which was $19, very steep, and the bagels are not huge. The thing that annoyed me was that the bag that came had the two sandwiches on the bottom, and the six bagels right on top of the two sandwiches, not in a separate bag, so when I tore open the top of the stapled bag, the bagels and all the toppings on the bagels went all over the place and made a mess. They should put these bagels in a separate bag for you. The bagels were for this evening, and I don't have another paper bag to put them in, and you don't want to put them in anything else. I think I'm going stick to just bagels from this place, and get the spreads on the side, if I get the spreads from them. They have whitefish salad and some interesting cream cheeses.

The crust is crisp and crackles as you break into a fresh one. The flavor is deep and malty. The crumb is very chewy and provides enough structure to support a sandwich. One tasting note: the crust in today's batch was had caramel notes that started to recall pizza crust. Less time in the oven would dial that back -- but it gives the bagel character so maybe you want to keep it! But that's the level we're on here. I'm giving subtle tasting notes in a Yelp review. Hella has unlocked the New York bagel for us on the West Coast.

Rather, it is part of an older generation of storefronts for specialized bakeries. Bagels are baked throughout the day and poured into bins, proudly located for the customer to view and choose. And it doesn't hurt that they make a respectable bagel. The bagels proclaim themselves as New York style, and they fall on the softer end of normal variation. We ordered poppy and onion bagels today. The dough in the poppy was malty and chewy, though it did not provide much structure. You can spread cream cheese over it and tear off pieces, but it won't support an open-faced sandwich. The crust was glossy and toothsome but not crisp. The onion bagel was similar in texture but notable because the bakers roll (rehydrated?) sautéed onion into the dough. The crumb is a bit softer as a result and the flavor is sweet and complex from the onion. It's definitely worth trying here. Berkeley Bagels has been around forever and feels like a real institution. It is not part of the SF bread scene, nor the new wave of modern sandwich-focused shops. It is a dependable, better-than-average bagel made by your neighbors. What's not to love?

Baby, I didn't have an onion bagel--I had an ONION SANDWICH with a little cream cheese! It was way too much and honestly disgusting to me. For my first visit, that definitely turned me off. Would I go back? Yeah. The bagels are fresh enough to deserve another chance. Would I order that onion bagel again? HELL NO!

We also added a tray of their small hot dogs, which was for the kiddos but the adults all loved it and gobbled them up. This one came with Dijon mustard and really yummy pickles too. The bagels appeared to have a crispy crust but biting into it revealed the crust to be an illusion. It gave way to a dry interior with the flavor of white bread. The basic bagel was SO GOOD. It genuinely might be one of the best bagels I've had. I loved the scallion cream cheese, and the tomato was super fresh and juicy without making the bagel soggy. The tomato and cream cheese also helped balance out the stronger flavor of the raw red onion. I'd definitely recommend this one if you're here! The honey truffle bagel had a really interesting sweet and salty combination. I loved the richness of the honey, while the earthy truffle flavor paired really nicely with it. The truffle cream cheese was a little too salty for my taste though. The shop itself is small and cozy, with limited indoor seating and an outdoor patio. They also have plain bagels, coffee, tea, and other options. Weekend lines can get a little long, but the wait is usually pretty reasonable. There's also plaza parking available across the street. The crust makes a noticeable crunch when you bite through and the taste of pretzels comes through clearly. (The shop must add a liberal splash of lye to the water bath.) The dough inside has a salty flavor which can be too much on its own -- but as a result it complements the slightly muted cream cheese to make a tasty pair. The one issue for the bagels is their structure. The crumb loses its shape under any tearing or bending, which makes it hard to support a sandwich. We also noticed that the cream cheese had a slightly grainy texture. All told these are great bagels. Pair them with a cream cheese you like and rip in.
