We hired this flooring team for a large custom home project in Burlingame (about 5,000 sq. ft.), and they absolutely delivered. This wasn't a simple install--we had a full chevron pattern on the top floor and custom stairs, both of which require a very high level of precision. The chevron layout came out perfectly aligned and consistent throughout, and the overall finish feels clean, intentional, and high-end. You can tell they really know what they're doing. The stairs were another standout. Everything lines up exactly how it should, and the transitions between flooring and stair elements are seamless. I'm writing this review in hopes that I save others from making the mistake that I made by hiring Bentos Flooring. This is an updated review b/c just a week or so ago I discovered some major problems including price gouging and incorrect installation technique that would deem the warranty void. I really hope that my detailed review helps you. Unfortunately, Igor is not the person he presented himself to be when I first hired him. I wrote my initial review right after he finished the installation and hind side I should have waited a few months before writing the review. **Dishonest/Price Gouging/Incorrect Installation deeming the warranty void** I've had several issues with Igor as follows: -A part of my condo got water damage 1 month after the brand new floors were installed by Igor's team so I contacted Igor and explained my situation and he came by and provided an estimate for repairs. His estimate was $3450 for an area measuring approximately 77 sq ft. A few weeks ago I accidently came across a floor company that was putting down the exact same floor that I have in my condo so I asked them to come by and give me an estimate. They are a licensed contractor as well and their estimate was $300 for the materials and $300 for labor. So $600 vs $3,450.00 that Igor quoted me (Igor's estimate is nearly 6 times more expensive). The new floor company told me that they would prefer that I go pickup the material myself since it's such a small job and I agreed to do so. This is where I found out that Igor really took advantage of me. **I found out that Igor charged me 3 times the amount for the materials only. The labor was also outrageous but since I can't do an apple to apple comparison I won't provide that info in my review** -I contacted Gaia because I had no idea where to get the floors from and Gaia referred several companies to me. Gaia is the brand of SPC flooring that Igor had installed for me. In talking to several flooring companies I came to know that Igor shouldn't have used a glue down installation technique and for this reason the warranty is now void. I contacted Gaia directly and they confirmed that this information is indeed correct. By the way, nowhere on Igor's invoice did he provide the name of the SPC flooring, the model, or the color but I was lucky b/c the restoration company had saved a single plank which I used to figure out the info I needed. - I've since asked Igor several times why he used a glue down technique and he has not answered my question. - The reason I picked the SPC floors were b/c Igor told me that they are hard to scratch. This hasn't been my experience so far. Please see attached photo. If you zoom in you can see a huge scratch and I don't know how this got scratched b/c nothing was dragged across the floor and it's only on two planks and nowhere else in my condo. -In the process of installing the floors Igor and his team had to remove my closet doors and reinstall them. When they reinstalled them they didn't do it properly and they damaged my brand new closet doors. -The front entry door had a huge gap between the bottom of the door and the floor so Mice could easily come in and lots of draft comes through and debris from the outside. I purchased a door draft stopper and installed it myself but the problem is that the floor is not even so the right side of the door has a bigger gap than the left side of the door. -The front door locks stopped working when Igor and his team were done with their work and when I returned home I was not able to lock my door. Igor came and fixed this but then it stopped working a few days later. So I had to get it fixed myself. -They didn't finish the gap between where the floor ends by the front door so instead of installing something nice Igor simply painted it black. He never asked me if this color is something I like he just did it and then when he was done he showed it to me. The floor is cream in color and this looks so ugly. It also didn't match the exterior of the house so I had to paint the exterior of the house by the front door. Please see photo. Unfortunately I was very sick when I hired Igor and I didn't have the opportunity to shop around and I told Igor this too. He looked like a very honest and trustworthy man and since I was so sick I didn't have much choice. Now I know that Igor took advantage of my situation and charged me at least 3 times more than a comparable licensed flooring contractor. He has since lied to me several times including sending me an email full of lies. I hope this detailed review helps you. read more

Igor is the man! We is very reliable and very talented. He is super responsive on the project, always answering his phone. We hired him for a major job in a very large home. Some of the floor needed complete restoration, some of the floor needed clean up and discoloration fixing, and other places needed carpet to be replaced with new wood that needed to basically end up looking like this 100 year old wood that was already in the house. In other words there were a lot of moving parts and it was not a simple job, made even more complicated with all the delays given COVID. Igor did an absolutely A+ job. This is a long overdue review. Bentos Flooring refinished my wood floors almost 10 years ago. My floors still look great! Igor is honest and professional, willing to resolve any issues that come up along the way. We just bought a new home, and we hired Igor once again to install hardwood floors in two of the bedrooms that had carpet. Bentos Flooring did a fantastic job. He took the time to get wood samples to find the closest match to the existing floors in the hallway, ordered all the materials, waited the proper time (two weeks) to make sure the wood adjusted to the temperature and humidity in the new home before installing it, and finally installed the new floor in three days. Igor and his team are one of the best contractors I have worked with - skilled, professional, on time, courteous, accommodating and safe. They performed 2 remodel projects for me: 1 major project of replacing hardwood floor + subfloor for 1 unit, and 1 smaller project of replacing a kitchen floor + re-enforce framing. Igor responds promptly, and is knowledgeable about various flooring options. His quoted prices were competitive. He slightly under-measured one area in his quote, but respected the original quote, and his team even helped pickup extra materials needed. He even shared contact of another builder so we could see his work before giving the contract. His team (esp Slava) are some of the most polite contractors, try best to accommodate any requests such as pattern layout, floor piece selection. They are also very safe - I did not have any concerns leaving my house keys with them. Most importantly, the work is VERY high quality, with clean lines, tight spacing and minimal wastage. Igor also cam through in a pinch to obtain certain soundproofing underlayment which was not easily available. As is often the case with remodeling jobs, there were certain surprises (re-enforcement needed in certain areas, new subfloor, electrician delays) - Igor's team helped resolve and work around my availability. In view of unexpected delays, project was still finished with reasonable time, and Slava came back to fix any pending concerns. There was some confusion regarding pricing for the smaller project, in this case Igor was very accommodating and split the difference. Igor and his team are the VERY BEST. I met with around three people about wood flooring install. I could tell right away that Igor is a problem-solver. He was just as dedicated to perfection on the last day as he was on the first. The team arrived early in the morning and stayed late every day until the job was done. I received bid that made no sense. 19 days! to complete a refinish only (not fresh install), incorrect finish, and no mention of the two phases (pre and post paint) we discussed, no mention of repairing a trim price, installing new flush vents, or replacing a number of boards. All of these aspects of the job were explicitly discussed and none were reflected in the proposal. Additionally, when I communicated the need to correctly and properly deal with a paint issue on stairs, I was told the new bid will be higher. No explanation of how much and why, options, etc.., just higher. The absence of rigour and accuracy for a job that will be north of 16K, combined with what I perceived as poor communication was unacceptable for me so I declined to move forward. YMMV read more

I was attracted to Bentos Flooring by the 5 star rating as well as the high number of reviews. But what really convinced me to call them was his gallery of photos many with the same pattern I have in my living/dining room. I grew up in my house which was built in 1931 and I know that the living room floors had never ever been refinished--I was nervous that the wrong vendor would ruin them. I called Igor and he said he could be over to take a look in 45 minutes. True to his word he arrived and looked over the whole house. Unlike another prospective contractor who said that moving furniture was not a part of his plan, Igor said his crew could move big stuff for us and that he could do the job in two phases. The hard part was actually clearing our all of our stuff--especially the closets! The Bentos crew arrived on time and moved the heavy stuff and set to work. Cesar and Eddy worked well together and were constantly vacuuming and keeping the job neat. After a large section was sanded down, we were given a chance to choose the color of the stain--we went with nutmeg. The job went really well and we were always able to contact Igor if we had a question--yes, a contractor that answers his phone is really fantastic! Let's start this review with what brought me to Bentos Flooring. I had nightmare experience with Empire Today. After purchasing hardwood floors from Empire, their installers came on multiple occasions (always late), and discovered each time new reasons why they could not install. On the last visit, I lost my cool and cancelled with them. The problem with Empire is they start the process off with sending their salespeople who know nothing about installation or what your specific installation requirements are so they run into the problem of selling you things they can't install. Then I figured the solution was to contact a contractor who knows what they are doing. So, I called Bentos Flooring. Igor came to my house, I explained the situation I ran into with Empire and he told me, "don't worry, we can help". He then looked over my then carpet and subfloors and told me what he could do for me. I had my reservations after what happened with Empire, but again, Igor told me, "don't worry, we can help". He got back to me the next day with a quote detailing exactly what he was going to do which assured me he knew what he was doing. Once everything was said and done, Igor's guys came to install and no problems came up. They easily removed my carpet, replaced my plywood subfloors, and installed my wood floors. We even ran into an issue with my washer and dryer area in which the subfloor was deteriorated so Igor's guys replaced the damaged plywood and installed fancy vinyl flooring in that area for moisture resistance. All in all, Igor and his guys did an awesome job on my floors. So much so, that I referred him to my sister-in-law who had just bought a home. I've used Igor for over 9 years. I've had several other folks do our floors and Igor impressed me as the most attentive, the most careful while delivering his service at a reasonable and predictable price. First he did our soft wood kitchen floor. Wood floors in the kitchen take quite a beating and his finish stood up very well. Recently, we had him bid on doing our entire apartment. It's mostly hardwood. We have kids and cats along with scratches from moving furniture over the years so the floor was ready for refinishing. In order to make the floor even more future-proof, I asked Igor about more durable floor finishes. We also discussed applying more coats than usual. He was open to both suggestions and provided a plan to use the Bona Traffic HD finish/coat and then do a total of 4 coats (including sealant) in high traffic areas and three coats in lower traffic areas. He adjusted the bid and we went forward with the project. It's been 10 months now and the floors are looking awesome. I'll also add that there was a part of the kitchen floor that had some flaking shortly after he was done. I called him. He came over quickly and we agreed on a time when he would come back and fix that part of the floor at no charge. This was an incredible show of customer service.
