D & R also kept the $107 to try to rob her of things she didn't need. Now she's going to another place that is 20-25 minutes away that were honest to her. This is my first time ever feeling the need to give a business a review. I took my car in to get…read morethe power steering lines replaced. I picked up my car right before closing. The next morning I noticed a bracket sticking out the top of my hood. To my surprise it was a bracket that holds down the power steering lines. After realizing they forgot to reinstall it, I took a closer look around where the work was performed. The front right wheel well/bumper was missing a clip and flapping in the wind. There is also a splash bracket missing. All these items are parts that had to be removed in order to put the new power steering lines in. I fixed the rest of the issues myself. When I called to ask the manager if they had the missing bracket his response was "we have master mechanics here and any bracket that we take off we put back on." Well attached are the photos... I sent an email as well to see if they had the missing bracket but no response. My power steering does work fine, but everything else being wrong/missing doesn't give me peace of mind. Based on other reviews this family business, with a good reputation, was sold and a lot of the good mechanics left. I wish I had read that before taking my car there. Edited based on owners response below: You can see the two circled bolts where the missing bracket was. About 1 inch above where the bracket was is the power steering lines that were replaced. By saying "You emailed pictures of the bracket and it is not in the area we worked on" is clearly not true. It 100% needs to be removed to access the lines. It just goes to show this place will not take any blame for anything and is dishonest. I never received a call/email back after I emailed the photos. Take my car back to get looked at? No thank you. I fixed all the incorrect work myself. It's not even about the missing bracket, I already replaced it. The company's response and how they handled this situation goes to show how they are unapologetic and constantly deny something possibly could have gone missing.

Billy will provide you a cost estimate on the spot and a ballpark on turn time, he scribbles your name and number down on a pad of paper, takes your car keys and that's it. You will NEVER receive a text from Billy, or an email, nor be required to use an app. You WILL receive a phone call and/or voicemail. I have had big jobs and small jobs done here and neither have disappointed. I literally came in after work with a small job sight unseen at 2pm in the afternoon and Billy turned me around in under an hour. You cannot ask for much more than that. They are great at explaining the difference between 'this is a problem-don't drive' vs 'this is a problem, fix in next 15k miles'. I thought I had a bearing issue. They looked at it and said it was a tire issue that really did need prompt replacement. They could not fix it that day (too late to get new tires). So they recommended another shop nearby. Another time, they declared an issue was beyond their ability and suggested the dealer. Much preferred than spending for half a job before they got stuck and cost me a bunch. When this auto shop first opened in Northbrook years ago, I was very excited because I thought "yay...I don't have to take my car to my dealership anymore" since I felt I was always overcharged for their parts and services". Heart was a little bit cheaper than my dealership so I was happy to give them my business. The front desk people were always friendly over the phone and in person and they were never pushy. My issue with them is regarding their honesty. I urgently needed a new car battery 3 years ago (2023). I called them on a Friday afternoon to check if they had a car battery for my particular make/model/year in stock. I was told they had it in stock and to bring in my car first thing Saturday morning. I was able to drive my car to their shop the next morning and the store manager at the time made sure that I got a new battery right then and there. He even called me the next day to make sure my battery was working fine. WOW! I was truly amazed by this high level of customer service. I've never had anyone from my dealership call me to check in. So over the next few years, I kept going to Heart for other services and was a very satisfied customer until today (Sept 2026). We needed to replace our car battery today since it was leaking and my husband decided to replace it himself. We went to Costco to purchase the new battery and bring in the old battery (for disposal) and what did we notice today? Heart installed the WRONG size car battery in my car 3 years ago!!!!!!! The Costco employee at the tire center was like "Is this the car battery that was in your car?" due to the obvious size difference between the battery we were going to buy at Costco and the one installed at Heart! Seriously? Not sure if the wrong size affected my car since it was jiggling under the hood all this time! Yes, my car drove fine with the wrong size battery all this time, but they installed the wrong size! The casing for the battery was TOO SMALL!!! They probably don't expect most customers to go under their hood and inspect or change the battery themselves so they probably didn't think we would notice the size difference! VERY DISAPPOINTED! They could have mentioned to me that the car battery they installed was a little bit smaller in size but not to worry since it wouldn't affect my car. A heads up about this would've been nice. But nope....no mention at all! They lost our business. We will never go to them again for any service!
