I waited over 2 months for a half cord of wood from these people and when they finally called me to say they had some, they were the rudest a person could possibly be. So rude that I had to call my credit card agency and have them cancel the amount that I had pre-paid them . Jim ( the owner) had the nerve to tell me that they were "just too busy" to fulfill our order and he didn't know when they could make it to our house. He actually yelled at me and tried to say that I was being rude and that I should just settle for whenever they felt like delivering my order of wood. I actually was so mad that I called back and asked for the owner and to my surprise it was actually Jim the guy who had previously told me basically to get stuffed. I told him that I didn't see how he had any customers with that kind of rotten attitude but he obviously didn't seem to care. My family owns the jacobs livestock company in west texas and I guarantee you that we would NEVER do business with someone who is outright rude to their prepayed customers and treat them like dirt. Jim if you are out there, and even give a damn, you need to seriously readjust your attitude to the people who keep you in business. You are truly one sorry asshole and I will never try to do any business with you again. To blame your customer for the fact that you couldn't deliver what you promised is the epitome of sorry management. I'm still so angry at you that I would happily stomp the living daylights out of your sorry ass. There, thats my review. Many locals love Benson's! My aunt who has lived in Carson City for over30 years has always used Benson's Feed, for her horses to her dogs and cats. My aunt suggested I go to Benson's when we adopted our Dogo Argentina as she has a lot of allergies. They helped me to choose the right food for her and all her allergies and a bone that she can enjoy without choking on it. The water Buffalo horn. Also, special enzyme shampoo and enzyme rinse that helps with her itchy skin. They are so helpful and polite. Without asking they carry your food out for you and open my car door for you. I HIGHLY recommend you use our local Benson's and support our local business owners. read more

Great service. Wonderful people. I'm glad there's still a community feed store left in town. I've been coming to Benson's for a few years now, and I recommend them to anyone in the area for their equine needs. If they don't have what you want, they will go out of their way to get it for you. I purchase all of my horse and dog food and supplements here, and my granddaughter loves to come see the chicks when they're in. If I ever have questions, there's always someone around with the knowledge to help me, or a way to find the info I need. It's nice to walk into a store and see the same smiling faces, who remember you and greet you by name. I adore these people, and they make me happy to support local small business. read more

Love this place! I get all my pets food, treats and bedding here. The variety is great I can get chinchilla, ferrit, parrot, and dog food in the same place, not to mention the bedding for their cages, vaccinations for my puppies and vitamins. The customer service is great they are a small business that truly takes the time to get to know their customers and goes out of their way to help. I love the baby chickens, to bad I don't have room for them or I may take them home too! The new expansion to their show room allows for more product and shopping yay! I was in need of chicken dog food. I normally purchase at Costco. Due to Coronavirus concerns, I really didn't want to go to Costco. I am 65 with some pre existing conditions. I was literally in my driveway ready to go to Costco when I remembered Bensons feed was right behind where I live. Called them to see if 40# chicken dog food was available. He took my credit card info; I drove over, called back, opened my trunk, he sent a guy out with my dog food, he put it in the car, gave me a receipt. EASY PEEZY. Recently I went in there in a hurry with a sick animal, they sold me some product, ended up having to take the animal to the vet and the said the meds I have them were absolutely useless for my animal.... animal ended up dying... I have never actually been in Benson's store, but I was calling around today looking for a good price on good quality corral panels for a round pen. Not only did Benson's have a good price, but when we figured out that we would not be able to transport the 8' tall, 12' wide gate panel, we asked if they could possibly deliver the panels for us. As we live in the VC Highlands, it is pretty far. The very nice guy on the phone said, "Well, we don't normally deliver that far, but hold on a second and let me ask if we can." He came back on a moment later and said it would be no problem, and the price he quoted us for the delivery was more than reasonable.Let us pay for the panels over the phone too. These guys are great! I started buying dog food here about six months ago because they were on my way home from work, and I haven't been to a big box store since. Their prices are about the same as the box stores, but they offer something box stores can't - the quality customer service offered by a locally owned & operated business.
