The education we got during our initial consultation was awesome. Then we got a quote and easily scheduled service within 2 weeks. The number of arborists who came out surprised us, as we assumed it would be a fairly quick and simple process (with the right know how and equipment). (Job was trim 5 medium trees, remove dead branches.) The level of detail took the team of 3 an entire day, almost 9 hours. They left everything clean and tidy, did no damage to the property or other plants, and were friendly and cheerful to interact with. Best part, aside from the property looking amazing after they left, was the over-quoted the cost of the job slightly, and we ended up with a small refund. I was looking for a competent arborist, first and foremost. I wanted the job done well. Price was secondary. These guys absolutely crushed it. They showed up to quote, promptly. They scheduled, promptly. And then they charged LESS than they quoted me by a couple hundred dollars! I've never had such a quality job done and then had the bill be less than I expected to pay. I had a tree that died that needed to be removed, and some other trees that needed trimming. American Arborists were extremely easy to work with - scheduling wise, estimate wise, booking the job wise, and the estimate was really reasonable. It was great because it was broken down by tree, so I could choose which I needed/wanted and not do some that weren't urgent. I am selling my house and needed the tree removed sooner than their schedule allowed, so I didn't end up using them for actual tree trimming or removal services. I did, however, get a whole truck full of wood chips from them! You can add your name to a list for wood chips and when they're neatby with a full truck, they reach out to see if you're ready for a delivery (I got like 20 minutes notice/I could have declined but was ready!). The guys who manuevered the truck to dump 5ish yards of wood chips were serious experts and it was beautifully orchestrated. They were incredibly respectful of my property and my neighbors' and I highly recommend them if you want a wood chip mountain, too! I am hoping to rent for a while and not need to care for trees but next time I do - totally calling American Arborists. I wish I had them out much sooner! read more

All winter, I said there was a few things that needed to be done in the Spring. My dad passed away in September and he was the main "landscaper" of his home. The home is now mine and I have no clue how to manage everything he had. Thats when I realized being Yelp Elite needed to kick in to gear. Their wait was around 2 months but the service they provided was great. All of them were friendly and let us know what was going on the entire time. I have two super huge/tall trees that needed trimming. I've never needed to get trimming before so I'm not going to comment on pricing but to me what I paid was well worth it. It pains me to write this as I typically don't like to write negative reviews and my experience wasn't entirely bad. I hired American Arborists awhile back after purchasing a vacation home in Sparks. I scheduled an appointment and James arrived on time as scheduled. We conducted a walkthrough of the property and I indicated which trees/shrubs I would like completely cut down, several in the back trimmed down to the fence line and other shrubs in the front of the house that I wanted cut to be approximately 2-3 feet high; as I did not want to revisit tree/shrub trimming for awhile and not being at the property full time to trim it myself. I was very clear that I wanted the trees/shrubs on the front side as short as possible. The crew arrived at the property on time; by which time I was already back at my primary residence and thus was not present. The crew was fast and efficient. However, two trees/shrubs (I apologize if I am using the incorrect term) in the front of the house were nearly 5 feet tall still, despite wanting it to be 2-3 feet high, max. Secondly, a branch that had cut from one of the trees on the backside of the house must've fallen over to the public sidewalk side of the fence during the cutting process but was not spotted by the crew. Because the branch was too big to fit in my trash, I had to go buy a pair of loppers from the hardware to cut it into smaller pieces; time and money that I shouldn't have had to spend. I will say that the crew was clean and removed all the other debris aside from the branch described above. James was also very professional and polite. So, would I hire them again? I don't know, to be honest. My experience was certainly lacking and not exactly what I wanted/expected. If I were to, I would ensure that I am present to ensure the job was completed as requested. read more

Ray and the "A" team were great. They showed up on time with advance notice and did a thorough walk through with me to make sure they knew what I wanted done. Kudos to them for accommodating me when I changed my mind about one of the trees and asked them to remove it. They left the job site clean and made sure I was satisfied before they left. This was my first experience with a tree service and Ray and American Arborists made it a good one. Highly recommend for all your pruning and tree removal needs. In 2023 apparently this business has outgrown its ability to provide customer service. They will make no consideration for a long time loyal customer that needs service in Less than 7 weeks. I had some tree damage and called them and told them I needed someone sooner. Their response was sorry we're booked. Not even a small attempt to possibly work me in. Basically sorry not sorry. So in addition to doubling their cost from 2021 to 2022 I saw no advantage to continue my relationship with them. I found a great young man just starting out his business who went the extra mile to provide his customers prompt and efficient service at almost half the cost of American Arborists. I recommended him to 2 of my neighbors who were impressed with his service and dedication to hard work. So not only did American Arborists lose my business they lost theirs too. I gave him a loooong list of things we'd like done and was promptly provided a quote within just a couple of hours. I requested to split the quote into two and had an appointment to get half of the work done the following week. They arrived very promptly and got the work done very efficiently. Appreciated the phone call of arrival to our home at exactly the agreed upon time. The two arborists who arrived were friendly and professional. They reviewed all services to be provided and were very clear about exactly what would be done. I appreciated that! The trees were properly trimmed and everything was clean and tidy when they finished. Excellent work! They also brought a new tree to be planted and it is perfect! They planted it beautifully in a section that I feed birds. They were also patient and helpful with my several feeders that had to be moved. Regarding the planted tree- I would also like to mention the associate who came to the house a few days ago to discuss the job and estimate. I have used American Arborists several times in recent years, most recently on June 10, 2024 when the crew of Sean, Josh, and Mike removed several trees, trimmed others, and ground down the stumps of many bushes removed a month ago as part of a fire-preventive landscape project. I have always found the company to be well-run and honest, punctual, helpful, and courteous. Since I live on a fire-prone canyon, Patricia Eisenberg, the company's Plant Health Manager, did a thorough and useful estimate with a particular eye to removing fire dangers. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The crew that did the work arrived at the appointed time and worked continuously until the project was done. They honored all of my suggestions and worked as hard cleaning up sawdust and debris as in doing the work itself. This is a local company helpful not just in trimming and removing trees, but also in plant care, protection against tree pests and fire prevention. The staff has many certified arborists who take pride in their work and emphasize customer satisfaction. I recommend the company enthusiastically and without reservations. They might do a great job but their workmen are rude and obnoxious. I pulled into my DAUGHTERS parking space at HER apartment. Got the grandkids out of my car and THEN saw the workmen there. One started yelling some crap I could barely hear over saws... something about coming through if I want to get hit on the head. Well no shit. Really. I have a PHYSICAL DISABILITY. I DID NOT know of any OTHER ACCESSIBLE way around the area but the idiot was too busy yelling and telling his work-buddy about the "stupid lady who wants to get hit on the head." (Yes, it was loud enough for me to hear because the buddy turned off his saw and the wood-chipper quit running.) So I loaded the grands in my car and pulled into someone else's spot where I got my walker and grandkids out a SECOND TIME and tried walking up a different sidewalk only to find that they had branches laying all over that one too.... But without seeing any danger, had my 5 year old granddaughter help me plow through the branches and crap all over the sidewalk. Yeah... epic assholes you have for employees. They COULD have been polite and simply said, "we're almost done and then you can walk through here if you don't mind waiting" as they had packed up and left within 15 minutes after I got in the apartment. They COULD have said, "the sidewalk at xyz entrance is clear if you want to go there to get around the mess." They EVEN could have offered a hand... but chose to treat an older, handicapped woman like garbage. I hope to NEVER see you in our neighborhood. ‍ read more
