The quote they gave me was very competitive for the amount of work I wanted done. I agreed to the work and a crew was dispatched with 72 hours. Alex was the site supervisor and he had a crew of about four people with him. They all went about their business and clipped, trimmed and chain-sawed to great effect for about an hour and 15 minutes. They put all of the materials they'd created into their chipper and then swept up the street before they headed off to their next job. We have two trees in our backyard that needed pruning and we wanted professionals to do it. A friend had recently had some pruning done and recommended Battle Born Tree Service. We called and arranged for someone to come out and give us an estimate. We liked the estimate, thought it was reasonable, and got a date set for the work. About a week and a half early, they called to say they had a cancellation that day and would we like to have them come that afternoon. Heck yeah! They showed up with several crew members (and trucks) and showed us what they would do. We made a couple of changes and they went to work. Terrible company. Takes advantage of an old widow and lied about the work that would be done. Do not use this company. They will tell you one thing to get the job and then lie on the backend about why they didn't do the work promised in the beginning. We decided to have a pine tree in our front yard removed after NV Energy cut it back from the power lines. I made an appointment for a free estimate. Their pricing was very competitive so I scheduled. The Crew did an amazing job and cleaned up afterwards. The guys were very professional and all around nice. We asked to keep the wood chips which they generously dumped in our backyard for us. They also cut down the trunk to manageable sizes since we were keeping the wood also. This company should not be in business!! I had them come out last year and do some work they here for 54 minutes and charge me $2,400 dollars and not do what they were suppose to do. Beware of Bait and Switch used by this company. Their estimator Thomas S., came to my property to estimate trimming/pruning several trees and shrubs on my property. We agreed on all the trees that had to be worked on, but all the trees and none of the shrubs were included in his estimate of $2400. I paid a $200 deposit and they scheduled me three weeks later in July. A crew of five were here for 2.5 hours. Two guys looked like they were actually working, one foreman, and two guys wandering around. When I asked the foreman why they were leaving so early and less than half of the trees were worked on he said they had to get to another job. They also left a mess of pine needles under the pine trees they trimmed and did not clean up after themselves. I called Thomas and told him the work was not complete after they invoiced me $2100. I barely got $500 worth of work. He assured me he would come back and review the estimate and get the crew out to finish the work as soon as possible. That was in August. I ended up doing the trimming myself in about three hours. It's obvious they over estimate the time and cost to do a job. I haven't heard another thing from these people except to get billed four months later for the balance of the work that was never complete. Very unprofessional and dishonest. read more

Battle Born Tree Service As a single female taking over a 2.5 acre neglected property, things are a bit overwhelming. I was getting more and more worried about my trees as every Nevada windstorm blew many branches down. Some I could not move without a tractor. With over 30 trees, some over 40 years old, many looked diseased and had bugs. I was anxious of the expense, worried of how was I going to take care of this and had no clue where to start. I happened to see an add or post on FB late evening one night and messaged the company. I received a reply within minutes from Sara. We communicated the next day and set up a time for a free estimate. Mike, the owner came out. He was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, not pushy in any way and you could tell he was passionate about his work. He provided a verbal quote and then Sara followed up with an email version the next day. It took some time to secure the best way of financing this investment (my side, not theirs) but when secured called and got a date. Some tell me I should have "shopped around" but I tend to go with my gut. This was an investment in my property and I feel the pricing was reasonable for the 1.5 day job that needed to be done. Battle Born was actually able to come earlier than expected which was a bonus. The crew of what seemed like 10 people showed up early the first day, (about 7am) kicked into high gear and within a few hours the trees already looked amazing. Most of the crew are licensed arborists and didn't just show up to supervise; This included Mike. He was up in the trees with the rest of the crew. The entire crew was patient with me as I am an inquisitive person. They answered every question I had with patience, humor and a smiling face. Having no idea what to expect, I was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of cleanup that occurred. (Had a very bad experience with roofers) They returned the next day bright and early to finish the job. By end of day two, I had all trees trimmed, and three removed due to future foundation issues. All branches were mulched, property raked and cleaned. They informed me that the trees would do much better and I should not have a problem in the future. I was very shocked to realize they were also treating the trees for beetles and aphids even though it was not in the quote. I had received another quote for that from another company. I am so pleased I went with Battle Born. I felt like my hand was held the entire process since I was in uncharted territory. It's been a week since my trees were cared for and they look amazing. I've had a few dead branches come out in the wind, stuff that was unseen after cutting, there are a few sticks that are still on the ground. Nothing to cry about. A job our size, I would have expected much more. I've read the other reviews and the bad ones seem to be a while ago. If they are not, then my guess is that there are some unrealistic expectations... I am a communicator and take charge, ask questions when I don't know the answer and I don't wait for others to coddle me. I had no issue with communication, workmanship, cleanup, or pricing. This company appears to be a family like environment. They work hard, laugh, and above all, you can see they enjoy what they do. My only regret is I did not write down the men's names and I am terrible at names. I would like to have thanked them personally in here also. These guys were great and I highly recommend them. I asked them to remove a 60+ foot cottonwood tree from my front yard. The tree was diseased, dying and leaning a little toward the house. The crew showed up 5 minutes early and got right to work. They were very professional and friendly. They dropped the entire tree, ground out the whole stump, cleaned up the mess and were completely done in 1 hour and 15 minutes! Other companies estimates may have been for a lower cost, but they also needed anywhere from 1/2 a day to 3 days to complete the same job. Stay away from this JANKY establishment. They will give you a quote, but when the day comes, they have no record of the quote besides the owner's memory. It took a few weeks for them to call me back to even schedule an estimate appointment. Their secretary said she would call me on a Friday to schedule because she would be making the schedule on that day. I didn't hear from her on that day and finally had to call her back myself on the next Tuesday at 5:00pm. I had to leave a message because they never answer their phones. She called me right back and finally scheduled the estimate appointment. Thanks for completely forgetting about my business. They also won't give you any paperwork or receipt of services when they come to service your needs. When Battle Born Tree Services came to remove our tree and trim a few others, they said I would get a 5% discount if I paid cash, but then didn't have any kind of receipt for me. Do they really expect people to just give them $1300 cash without a receipt? They said their secretary would mail us paperwork after the fact, but I did not accept that response and had to create my own receipt and made him sign it saying I didn't owe them anything. Since they've been around for so long, I would think they would have more established professional business practices. As I expected, their secretary had no followthrough and did not send me any paperwork. Good thing I created my own, otherwise who knows? They showed up 2 HOURS EARLY: 7:00 AM ON A WEEKDAY, instead of the scheduled 9:00am because it was more convenient for them. Zero notice was given and they woke us up an hour before we would have normally gotten up, since we start work a little later. They PISSED OFF MY NEIGHBOR by hopping into their yard to pick up debris without telling or asking them first. Thanks a lot. Maybe YOU don't have to live with them, but I do. More recently, one of my trees that they cut and poisoned started growing back with suckers everywhere (one of those pesky elms that pop up everywhere here). I called them a few weeks ago to ask if they could come out an take a look and fix it or whatever. I left a message (because they never answer) and haven't received a call back. We were concerned about Battle Born Tree Service since they had some bad reviews. However, since they were recommended by our gardening service, we thought we would give them a try. We were exceptionally happy with their service. We noted complaints about misunderstandings about quotes and charges, many of which were years ago. Steve came out and looked at our yard, took down our email and told us that he would send a quote. The following morning it was there in our inbox. When we changed the scope of work, they emailed a corrected quote, and we had to sign our approval. Very professional. I didn't pay for their service, but this is to complain about them trespassing my property. The landscapers rang my doorbell, I have the Ring app, I wasn't able to answer right away, and I noticed the guy left. Then about 2 hours later 3 guys rang my doorbell, again wasn't able to answer the door, they strode there and said they were going to take my yard. My first thought was, I don't have landscapers and I don't have landscaping! I have rocks and dirt what the heck k are they doing in my yard??!! I panicked and called the cops on them. No one is home and I have a small rescue dog at home, who has anxiety, and was loose in my yard. So, had I been given some sort of notice by my neighbor or for the landscapers come back when I was home, I could've locked my dog up. Is this a part of your service, to just go through someone's yard without permission? Next time, call the person who requested your service and notify your neighbors. read more

Let me start by saying I almost didn't call theses guys because of some of the reviews that I read but decided to go ahead and give them a call. My experience started with a call to Sarah to schedule an appointment for an estimate, I set up the appointment and the guys showed up on time. I then received an email within a couple of days with the quoted price which was very reasonable. I made the appointment to have the tree trimming work done and they showed up as scheduled, the work was completed and my yard was cleaned up before they left. Another high overhead operation not price competitive. I was visited by a gentleman who was knowledgeable on the types of trees I had but was not a tree trimmer himself. I had 2 medium sized trees that needed to be laced and shaped plus some other miscellaneous trimming. He mentioned that they would use a crew of 6 to do the job and at that point I doubted the price would be competitive. Sure enough the bid came in at $1400. I was willing to pay about $500 to $600. The job will require a crew of 2, one of whom needs to be a guy who climbs up in the trees with safety belt and chain saw. My job is about a half a day work for such a crew. read more

They were hired by my neighbor trim back their big trees. Had to access the trees from my yard. No big deal. But when I came home they'd dropped some big limbs on my fence bending the top rail it two places. No attempt repair it, note on my door, nuthin'. UNBELIEVABLE. I called 3 services to get an estimate on one tree removal. My neighbor predicted 800$. On estimate was 820, another was 780,, THESE GUYS said 430 (ish.. I can't remember exact number.. They even said their Yelp special would make it about 400). Of course, I said GREAT! They came on the day expected and cut the tree. No perceived problem there. I just got an email invoice for 1500$. As in.. FIFTEEN HUNDRED. I called the guy- he tried to deny it, said he said 1500, and that the office emailed me an estimate,, which they DID NOT. After some extremely strong words (is anyone else tired of services trying to swindle them?), as I completely lost my s**t and begged him to take me to court,, then he says he'll be reasonable at 700$. ...I am a firey rage right now. read more

Timely initial appointment as well as easy to book the appointment for tree clean up and trimming right away;however, it was a high estimate. Initial bid was not itemized. I had to go on an appointment prior to the work being completed, and when I got home, my backyard was COVERED in debris- including tree sized branches. I had to call and ask them to return to perform the clean up that I assumed was included in the initial bid. Although he sent his crew back out, I am not sure we agreed on what his clean up should have entailed. I would make sure to get more than one estimate for services before choosing them right away, and ask that he itemizes the estimate so that you know what you're paying for. read more

I thought they did a good job! Had our White Maple trimmed so we wouldn't have to worry this winter. I should have had another tree company do it! When I called over our tree breaking and hitting our house on our first storm this winter I was told that they " can't predict branches breaking." That's like a plumber saying the can't predict a pipe leak on a rusted pipe! Then they wanted to charge me 850 just to come look at the damage. Two other tree companies came out for free, they told me Battle Born did not storm proof my tree and did a " shoty" job at trimming it. Actually made snow weight more of a problem because of how they trimmed. I would go to Cascade Tree instead, they are affordable and will do it right! Next storm I won't have to worry about the twelve branches (smallest on 4" diameter) falling on my house and power lines connected to my house! My home sold within 30 days. Now those trees are growing strong and look so awesome. The apple tree which hardly produced fruit was full this year. One service said they could not remove the dead tree because of the proximity to power lines and my house. The other service had a cheaper quote than Battle Born, but they said the job would take three days. Mike, the owner, not only assured me that they could safely remove the tree but also explained to me that he and his crew would get the job done in one day. I chose Battle Born and I'm very glad that I did. Mike and his crew showed up on time and they were diligent, efficient, and respectful. They brought the hazardous tree down by noon and had everything else trimmed by 4 pm.
