Came here a few week ago looking for new eye glasses with my husband. We were looking for some place that would take our insurance (our usual place doesn't take our new insurance) and a family business to support locally. I found them from my provider list and looked them up to see that they are a small family business. We came on a Saturday late afternoon and they were wonderful. We wanted to look at the frames first to make sure there is something for us before we agree to do the eye exam and use our insurance to process everything. The father Bill, daughter Kristen and tech Jennifer introduced themselves to us and was very helpful. We felt that the service was amazing. They were attentive and worked with us since I'm picky with frames. I even explained that in the past the Optometrist had purposely given me a higher prescription which forced me to squint for an entire year back in college which then forced my eye prescription to increase. Dr. Amir was understanding and said my prescription didn't increase much and it would be similar to it. I'm looking forward to picking them up and to see how it looks. I live in the neighborhood and only went to this place because they accepted my insurance. This place needs to shut down or hire new staff/doctor because it's not run properly.I had to go back and forth for a simple contact lens prescription. The doctor just couldn't get the right number for my daughter's eyes. Staff is blunt with attitude and rude mostly. Especially when I wasn't planning on buying lens or glasses at their store. It's only been a few months now and my daughter can't see with the prescription given from Bensonhurst family vision! I ended up going back to my old place last week to Eye D vision ( in the same neighborhood) to get her eyes checked again because I didn't want the hassle of going back to the family vision place . I only stopped going to my old place because they didn't except my vision insurance and I regret it. I'd rather pay out of pocket for an exam at Eye D vision and have the correct prescription plus amazing experience of knowledgeable doctors! read more

How did you honor the warranty? The glasses were not done correctly The PD was off and yes glasses if they're not done right can make your vision worse. Is that sort of like using paper towels on glasses is okay? You did not honor the warranty your girl said she would honor the warranty then when I came in to see you you came up with something because the prescription was changed that you could not have a warranty. Then you gave me computer glasses that are horrible they don't work I brought them back once they still not right. My regular prescription is okay I'm seeing better but I'm a little disappointed that you didn't honor the warranty. I had to pay over $200 for blue blocker on the computer glasses and the glasses are useless. read more

So I've been coming here for a couple years now and even referred my family to come here. The first time I went with my daughters we saw the female doctor they have she was good. I had no issues with her. Me and my daughters got our glasses all was fine and dandy. 11/8/2018 I had an appointment for 2 of my daughters (9 & 6 years old) my 2 year old was with us as well. My kids and I sat and waited to be called and I noticed this old Asian man with his phone pointed right at my kids. My mind was going crazy thinking this man was taking photos of my children. A different doctor was there yesterday, a young Asian doctor, he called us in. The whole appointment with my daughters was a blur to me because I was so upset at this pedophile taking pictures. During my daughters exam I got myself up and walked up to the old Asian man and asked him if he took pictures of my children. Immediately the Asian woman who works there behind the counter came rushing over. I asked her to translate for me and ask him if he took pictures of my daughters, instead of asking him she answers for him and tells me no he didn't! I told her I didn't ask you to answer to question I asked you to ask him if he took photos of my daughters! So she asked him in a laughing manner. His response was "they're so cute and I wanted to take a picture but I didn't, I wouldn't do that" I then ask him to take his phone out. He hesitated and takes it out but wouldn't open it and then him and the woman start speaking Chinese and are both laughing. I insist that he opens his phone again and he finally does but as he is doing it he is literally shaking and he swipes quickly not showing me but the lady who works there his photos but as he is swiping I see my daughters picture! I then pull his phone towards me and look at the Asian lady and I told her "you see!!" And I told him to delete it now and then there were more! There was a total of 4 pictures he took and one specifically of my 9 year old zoomed in towards her backside! I made him delete the photos. What killed me was that everyone was watching and NO ONE SPOKE UP! How? How do you not speak up for injustice?! How do you not speak up to protect children?! Whether it be my children or someone else's? Last thing I said to the stupid lady behind the desk who still took to his defense and tries to comfort his dumb ass was "you tried to make me seem like I'm the crazy one too huh" She didn't even say anything! And when I went back into the exam room to my children the doctor, honestly I could be wrong, but I felt was being rude! Because his attitude changed completely. He wouldn't even look at me. As if I offended him! It's like the 2 Asian people working there felt like I'm ganging up in an old Asian man... race has nothing to do with it! I had a 12:30 appt and they took me on time which was great .everyone was so nice and the doctor who did my exam was so helpful and very nice and knew a lot about her field . So I have to say they really do work with you on the price so you can get the glasses you really wanted cant wait to pick up my new Armani exchange glasses and for such a awesome price . I booked an appointment for contact lenses fitting. Prior to the appointment I purchased the Yelp deal for $50 that is $100 value. The staff is friendly and patient. I do not have a printer at home, but the gentleman at the reception desk was kind enough to help me print out the voucher so I can claim the deal. He was very helpful! My insurance does not cover contact lenses fitting eye exam, which is a bummer - wallet damage was unavoidable. The eye exam was $125, with the voucher, I ended up paying $75. It helped my wallet a lot! My appointment went quick, as I already am experienced with using contact lenses. After the exam, they provided me with some contact lenses to try and booked a follow up appointment (for feedback on the contact lenses - its already covered with eye exam fee). The follow up appointment went just as quick, gave in my feedback on the lenses and I placed an order through them (as they price match with 1800 Contacts). Another thing I like about this store is that you will get call, email, and text notification of your appointment(s). Very helpful! I am very satisfied with their service :) read more

This is one of the best health care facilities for your eyes, nothing short of a miracle. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service my family & I received, definitely 5 star worthy. From the friendly front desk to the in depth and detailed exams to help give a complete picture of what your eyes need. One aspect that stood out to me what how the Dr was willing to take time to answer all the questions and really walk us through it all. This office is more interested in the process of getting you quality service to get you seeing correctly again rather than just getting you to buy the most expensive frames, which is what some nearby competitors try to do. When the time comes to get your glasses it's also followed up with great service and a tutorial to make sure it all goes exactly as needed. After 25 years of patronizing a store Going every single year to purchase several pair of glasses this year was my worst experience with Bensonhurst family vision, as I left the store I spent over $1300 on glasses only to be told with that when returning the glasses were not working for me at all and couldn't see it was nothing that they can do to help me I was basically on my own they blamed my insurance company is not my insurance company that made the glasses Bensonhurst family vision is the vendor that made the glasses. I was promised that they were under warranty I was quick to find out that that didn't exist I am now stuck with a pair of glasses that I cannot see out of and Bill the owner of the store is not willing to take any ownership whatsoever to help me replace these glasses I do not recommend anybody goes there to have their glasses made by save yourself a lot of trouble and aggravation and go to a Collins optical or some other chain store that guarantees that work do you only get burnt in the store read more

The people who work here are very friendly, helpful and accommodating! I was able to get an appointment the day before over the phone. On appointment day, I called them to let them know I will be 15-30mins late. Upon arrival I was seen within 10mins. I forgot to purchase the $50 for $100 deal on Yelp, and the receptionist let me purchase the deal in store without signing in on Yelp! For $50, I received an initial eye exam, a pair of trial contacts and a follow up exam. I saw Dr. Prisca Simons and she was very nice and helpful. I been wanting to switch to a new brand of contact and she was very helpful in the transition. A week later, at the follow up exam, I was able to purchase a new supply of contact directly from the practice. I like how their prices are the same as if I were to buy contacts online on Walmart of 1800contacts. The very next day, I received a phone call that my contacts are ready to be picked up! I like how they didn't pressure me to buy glasses or contacts at the practice. Dr. Simons even suggested that I can get a copy of the prescription and buy contact else where in the future! This office is decent. Pretty clean and the people working there are helpful and speak good English (very important to me especially in this area); my appointment was easy to make and I didn't have to wait long. They called me to pick up my glasses which were ready within a week and exactly when they said they would be. I went here for an eye exam and a cheap pair of glasses. I hadn't had an eye exam for about 4 years so I wanted to update my prescription and if my eyesight was about the same just get a back up pair of glasses. For these reasons, I opted for the $100 special they have. The optician was a young woman and she was not the best. The exam did not seem complete and she seemed either new, inexperienced, or she just didn't care/try to give a thorough exam. I have a condition called duane syndrome where one eye doesn't turn to the left. Had it since birth, not a big deal...but she kept asking the most asinine questions and it made me feel uncomfortable. It felt as though she was accusing me of faking the condition. Um, I can't intentionally hold one eye in place while the other one moves--not making it up lady. The glasses I got were extremely cheap. I realize that $100 for glasses is not a lot but the quality is ridiculous. They tried to sell me additional options but they weren't too pushy. FInally, I asked for a copy of my prescription and they looked at me like I was crazy. I think that is a fairly common request, and unless I am mistaken, aren't they supposed to give you a paper copy of your prescription anyway? I just got an overall weird vibe from this place. I can only review the retail side, I don't use the optometrist they have because I have my own doctor for over 30 years now. I highly recommend this establishment for the following reasons. I've had the misfortune of using two (2) different cheap chain eyeglasses stores a long time ago. When you use this place to fill your own prescription they will fill it exactly unlike the cheap places I used. The staff is always courteous if not friendly. They're also extremely professional. They stand behind everything they sell. I purchased a frame with lenses over a year ago. The frame broke when I went back to see if it could be fixed and found out that it couldn't I was upset. Before I could respond the young woman waiting on me told me that since my frame has expired it's warranty I was more upset but then I heard her say that "WE STAND BEHIND EVERYTHING WE SELL AND WE'RE GOING TO GIVE YOU A NEW FRAME FREE". To say that I was in shock was an understatement. The price of wireless frames if you've ever priced them you know that they are extremely expensive. I am also very pleased to post that it only took one day to get my new frame with my lenses back. So in closing I not only highly recommend this establishment but I'd also say if you live in the area and don't use this place you are making a huge mistake. Place is very clean and oraganized , and mostly you don't have to wait to long because they are not that busy. Me and my husband went in for eye exams and Dr.Simmons took our exam. She was very simple and straightforward. Just did the exam and was very professional. We had no small talk or anything but she was very open and asked if we had any questions. After that the other employee there showed us which glasses were free with my insurance ( all plastic of course ) and me and my husband were just trying them on . They have lots of mirror space for you. One thing that was weird to me was that the employee said that they mostly don't call when your glasses are ready for pick up. I think thats pretty unreasonable. So i called them about a week later and they said our glasses were ready. Me and my husband went in and his glasses were ready but mine were not ! There was a crack in the glass and i was surprised that they didn't even check before telling me that it was ready. So we left with my husbands glasses that day and came back a week later for mine. Had to wait 20 mins this time just for pick up but seems like the owner was there this time and he was a very nice gentleman who gave me my glasses while helping someone else so i could leave. Overall it was a good , the people working there are nice and friendly but i really think they need to call customers for pick up and check the glasses before they do so, so one star down for that. read more

If it were possible to give less than one star then I would. Everything about this place is extremely frustrating. From the moment I walked in and had my arm twisted to spend more and more money on frames to the fact that it has been a month in a couple of days and I still have not received my TRIAL contact lenses!!! (yet they required that they receive the balance on them before dispensing my glasses!! )The only frames they carry in the store that are covered are the worst possible frames and all they do is tell you how horrible they are so that you won't buy them, since they aren't making any extra money off of you. They obviously do this on purpose because lots of the other chain vision places have some pretty decent choices for the frames that are covered. They purposely choose ones that are horrible quality so that they can show you how terrible they are and talk you into spending a small fortune. The waiting time is also terrible and they are really pushy. Total turnoff. Anyway, I called them last week to figure out where my trial lenses were and they promised me they would be here in just a couple of days. I got the feeling that they would attempt to at least touch base with me. I was absolutely wrong and here we are another week later with no phone call and I am left to call them again. Obviously I'm probably going to have to cancel the lenses because I don't want to keep waiting. I'm sure they will give me a hard time about that too. The irony of all this is that I purposely chose to go to them instead of the chain store across the street because I thought I would've had a better selection and better service. I couldn't have been more wrong and now I know that these family-run places are complete crooks that are out to bleed you of money and not to mention offer absolutely terrible service. Two days ago I made an appointment for my 85 y.o., wheelchair bounded, father. I asked the secretary if they had Russian speaking (ophthalmologist/optometrist) the lady said that he/she will be Monday but my father can still come Thursday ( the office manager is Russian speaking and he will help my father to translate). I said the sooner the better, because my father's eye is very red and he is in pain. I asked the secretary if they are taking his insurance - she said yes. Thursday morning my father's aid calls me from the office and tells me that they don't accept my father's insurance and in addition, the MANAGER refused to translate for my father, stating that he is very busy... I spoke with the manager on the phone and complained to him about the secretary and asked him kindly to help to translate - he refused, he was very rude and unprofessional. I came here because this was the only optical place in Bensonhurst that had an eye doctor that can do RGP fitting. Dr. Vladimir Poley and the staff were all kind, patient and knowledgeable. My 1st set of RGP lenses came quickly and they were comfortable since day 1, so it's a perfect fit. My glasses took 2 weeks (due to my high prescription) but the quality seems better than any of my previous glasses that I have gotten from optical chain stores. They're very accommodating and never rush you even thought finding new glasses can take a lot of time. BEWARE! I asked for my eye exam information and PD so I can order lenses online, to what I was told that I have to pay for it. It is absolutely illegal to deny a patient his information upon the request! This information must be free of charge because it was paid for during the initial eye test. AMAZING!!!--from the time that I called, which was this past Thursday to make an appointment, which was made for the next day, I felt welcomed. Arrived a little before my appointment time and was acknowledged as soon as i walked in. I have diabetes and needed an exam and new glasses. Well, I could not have been happier that i chose here instead of a place closer to my house. The doctor was so so thorough. She explained each step and each test that she was doing in words that made it easy for me to understand. Incredibly happy with these guys (and girls). I can be a difficult customer at times, and the patience they have is outstanding. I like also that they are respectful with their appointments, never had to wait more than 15 minutes and often was examined exactly at the time I was scheduled for. They really won me over a few years back when I was running late one day. Got there just as Bill (the owner) was pulling down the gate (was picking up my glasses) and putting the locks on. I guess he saw how disappointed I was, smiled and said, "I'll get your glasses." Opened the place up again to go back in and take care of me so I wouldn't have to come back. And it was a Friday night, too. Pretty sure it's because of this kind of thing that these people are in business as long as they are. Sounds corny I know, but they really live up to their name. I went to Bensonhurst Family Vision to get a prescription for contacts. It was one of the best experience in my life. The contacts exam was $125 and included an eye exam, 7-day contacts trial and a follow-up visit. Also, I bought a deal on Yelp $50 for $100 for the exam, therefore, I was able to save some money on the visit. The staff was super nice, friendly and polite. The doctor was amazing - very attentive and helpful. I have a complicated situation with my eyes and the doctor really spent time on the exam and prescribed some recommendations besides contacts. After the exam I was given a 7-day trial of contacts. Also, since it were my first contacts the staff spent time on training me how to insert the contacts and to take them out. They gave me hands on advice, recommendations and instructions. In 7 days I was back and the doctor double check the contacts fit. I love the contacts that he prescribed me. They are very comfortable and easy to use and are of a perfect fit for me. The staff helped me to order the contacts which were of the same price as online. Also, I read in some reviews that some patients did not receive a prescription - the doctor gave me mine with no problem. I am very pleased with my experience at Bensonhurst Family Vision. I will definitely come back for a new pair of glasses (I noticed some very nice frames there)! I do recommend this place! read more
