I usually replace my glasses every 2-3 years so I decided to give iLOOK a shot this year. I've got to say, I was pleased with the amount of styles and brands that they offer in the store. Their sister company, Eye Solutions, which is on the next block also offer more options and also provides the same service and costs. It took a few visits between Eye Solutions and iLOOK to finally find the frame that I really like. I enjoyed their customer service at iLOOK. Very honest and courteous staff. Bought a pair of saint laurent frame according to sales rep on the phone on July 1st of 2023. Considering a pair of frames I bought only a little outside of 1 year and how the frame of the glasses does not hold up, im starting to wonder if it's really authentic. I asked if there is anything they can do, and all the rep said was nope, there's nothing we can do and it's only 1 year warranty. I barely used these glasses as they are not my daily glasses, always stored in the manufacture glasses holder. The only eye glass cleaner i use are the ones sold by them with their brand. They don't offer much help and basically 1 year after purchase date, they're basically saying to get out. Might want to rethink on the quality of glasses they sell and the customer service they provide. Elsewhere is better. They don't even offer services for repair or any solution to it. Nose bridge piece is already chipping off and flaking causing discomfort to wear. Honestly im just pretty upset about their customer service. read more

Came in here last week with my folks to buy a pair of sunglasses and their service was superb. I like that masks are mandatory and that any pair that is tried on should be place on a tray for them to sanitize before they place it back on display. For me that's attention to safety, which I appreciate greatly. As for their customer service, I was so please with it. Carol took great care of me and she was beyond patience. I definitely recommend asking for her when you go there. Not only did Carol try to figure out my taste preferences but also I like that she was very honest if she didn't like a frame on me and would explain why. She also helped me search for pairs she thought I would interest in without pressuring me to buy it. Worst is to have a pushy sales person but Carol did not demonstrate any of that trait at all. With that said, I brought the two pair of sunglasses that I came in for. I spend about 2.5 hrs in the store and not once did I felt I was overstaying my welcome or felt long because I was actually having fun. I also like that they have a bathroom for their customers and beverages should we need to stay hydrate. For me, details is in the devil and this eyewear store definitely understood the importance of it. They definitely have a large selection of eyewear to choose from. Their facility are also clean, not one dirt on the floor. It's also very bright inside so I can see all the details I need when choosing my sunglasses. Lastly, my Chinese is not that good and I felt very comfortable speaking English in there. With that said for those who might feel intimidated going into an eyewear store that mainly serve the Chinese community, please don't feel uncomfortable at all!!! They've got a great selection of eyewear here. Their pandemic protocols have been pretty great too, they sanitize after every try on. If I could break down my experience here into three parts it would be shopping, fitting and purchase. At iLook, I felt 2 out of 3 were painless. Shopping: It was fun to try things on and compare looks. The staff is friendly and knowledgable about materials and price points. I was able to narrow down my choices from five to two with the staff's help. They provided insight on things like weight on your face, and durability. Fitting: We both had masks on and I felt pretty safe. Fitting was personable and relatively quick. The instruments they use look pretty serious. Purchasing: This is where I felt the experience was so-so for me. The lack of transparency here isn't unique to iLook and happens pretty often in other shops I've been to. Felt like I saw the sticker price for the eye wear and additional prices and upsells were being tacked on. Upsells can include: tiers for glass quality, and glare coating, scratch resistance etc. I feel what would make iLook stand out in the eyewear purchasing experience is make the upsells more palatable. Instead of handing me a huge binder of additional add-ons, let me try on some sample glasses with the added effect. All in all - it was a good experience otherwise. They accepted my insurance's credit which was great. read more

One of the ultimate reason why I gave ONE STAR was because of its Staff poor customer service. For 2 episodes iLook Staff-Steve interrupted the processing of my prescription glasses due to a long phone conversation which he entertained and made me wait, he then accommodated another customer which was ridiculous because we were in the middle of finalizing my prescription glasses and paperworks. I almost cancel everything. Let me remind the Staff, you guys are dealing with prescriptions glasses from a Physician, you cannot deal with 3 patients at the same time because that's where mistakes happen and then when trouble comes you have no way out. One at a time please with your Customer encounter. This was not the case last year because the guy who assisted me was very professional and focus, I dont think he still works there. Mind you, I have the best federal insurance and I expect to be treated in a fair and respectful way by first come first serve basis. Please do not interrupt the process when you started on my prescription because I waited for my turn. I was not satisfied and this was absolutely unacceptable experience and its just gave a negative impact. I do not recommend this Store in 8th Ave. I hate to say this but Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction really really matters. Please remember: "NO MAN CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS". read more

Staff is knowledgable and speaks English. Prices are reasonable. When I gave them my insurance card, they looked up my info and told me all the benefits I have from my insurance. They even advised me that I have the option of getting an additional pair for occupational use through my insurance. They were also very good at helping me find the frames that I liked. The eye exam doctor took much longer than usual, but that's not a bad thing. He was very thorough and covered all areas needed in an eye exam. He also advised me to get the internal of my eyes checked every year because of the risk of damage that accompanies with my high prescription. Let me start to say that this place is very clean and the staffs are friendly. The staff welcomed us as we walked-in. Susan helped us find the glasses we wanted. She also explained us everything through price, lease, benefits, and insurance if we were eligible. We were very happy that we got a new pair of glasses in this place. I have been going to ILook for approximately 2 years. I have a high prescription of -12 where the optometrist has mentioned multiple times I am at risk of a tear in my retina. They never suggested anything. This year I changed my optometrist and they immediately let me know I had some holes in my retina and to immediately get it checked. After going to the opthamologist from my current optometrists recommendation they said I have had some 3 tears. 2 of which are old from a while. This is highly disappointing since the customer service here has been excellent, but the fact that the optometrist never mentioned this in my past visits show the lack of thoroughness in their exams. For glasses and contacts purposes this place is great. However for eye exams with high prescriptions I would look elsewhere read more

It's not everyday I'd travel to Brooklyn's Chinatown for eyewear, but this place makes it worthwhile. Calvin and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful - I can't tell you how refreshing it is to speak to someone who knows what chromatic distortion is and can suggest lenses that offer crisp full spectrum imaging in stylin frames... They are not in the realm of 'supercheap' or even 'cheap', but they definitely reside in the land of 'good quality and service' and 'well stocked' and 'full of options and advice'... This place is great! The woman helping me was named Hailey. She and her associates were very patient with me trying on 40 pairs on glasses, as I am indecisive! Their recommendations were helpful and they seemed to give honest opinions. I found a pair of Dior glasses I loved, they happily looked up my insurance info, and with the lenses, frames, etc it was much less expensive than I imagined (about $260). I could probably have shopped around a bit more, but I was enjoying a lovely summer day in Chinatown, waltzed in on a whim and made a bit of a splurge. The alternative was ubiquitous Warby Parkers. I think it's worth the money to get something nicer that everyone in Brooklyn is not already wearing! Friendly staff, great location, did not feel much sales pressure. Definitely recommend this place. And the staff spoke English which was helpful as many establishments in Chinatown are Chinese only! Highly recommend. read more

My third pair of glasses from here. Echoing other reviewers, Steve is super helpful with an amazing memory. I paid him a visit yesterday because my driver license is expiring soon and to renew I need a vision test report. As soon as I mentioned I needed to renew he asked for my license and proceeded to submit one electronically for me. Not only did he remember I had been there under a year ago so didn't need to get examined but they're also registered with the DMV so are able to submit these electronically. I imagine if I had asked over the phone he would have been able to submit it without my taking a trip out there. Oh well. Since I had so much time left over I decided to try out some glasses. I had a great experience here. My appointment was at 1:45PM and the doctor came to see me right on the dot. One thing I hate most about going to the doctors is sitting in the waiting room. Once my eye exam was over I did my contacts exam. I noticed that the doctor wanted to check to make sure my contacts fit me perfectly before letting me go (although, it may have been easier to let me go and ask me to come back since it was her lunch hour). I thought that type of care is great. Susan the sales associate helped me pick out glasses. Usually I take a long time to pick out glasses but Susan listened to my requirements and fitted me with the perfect pair of glasses. Came here on a whim with my sisters to search for some aviators and gifts for family members. I'm an ambivalent customer-- As always, I would have to try about every shade in the store to make a final decision for myself. Steve, one of the staff members, was extremely welcoming and most importantly, patient. He made us feel comfortable enough to try on anything we wanted..until we found a pair of shades that we were 100% satisfied with. This place gets packed on the wkends!! I tried to go without one but they had a lot of people for that day already. I spoke with the rep, Steve who made an appt for me to come back. So i did and when i arrived, i was seen almost right away. The doctor was very good and made really good recommendations to me. They gave me a free pair of contacts and 2 bottles of solutions to take home while my contacts were being shipped directly to my house! I checked with Steve again for my order status and he provided me with the tracking number and when my expected delivery will arrive. Great customer service. Went into the store because of my mom wants to get a new pair of glasses when she came visit me last December. At first I thought this one will be same as the other"old fashion pricey " optical store until I step in and was greeted by the friendly staves. We were the last customer of the day however they didn't rush us to make decision instead they apologize to us because we need to wait 15 mins to be tested. I've never had this kind of experience before, not in Chinatown, usually they will just tell u to come back the other day becuz they are closing. That's why I'm impressed with their excellent customer service! Also they won't treat u differently because u just want to get a cheaper glass frame. Their price is resonance. In the end my mom spent 300 on her frame and glass but she's happy about it. And now my dad is going back to get his glasses and pay the extra too even though he can definitely get a free one from his ins. I think I will go back to get my eye exam too this week. My sisters and I were long overdue for a new pair of shades for the summer season and decided to come here. We were instantly welcomed and greeted by one of the staff members, Steve. He was very friendly, honest, and very willing to help cater to our needs. He never tried to convince us to buy another pair of shades like most other salesperson normally would, instead he took his time to ask us what WE wanted and what would fit us best. In addition, he was kind enough to order new shades from online for me, because they didn't carry the specific shades that I was looking for. About a week alter, we picked up our shades and Steve fitted them perfectly to our face shape and to our liking. I took my kids here for their yearly eye exam. There was a snack bar,free WiFi, and phone chargers. The service they provided was excellent . After we finished, it started raining. We were stuck in the store with no umbrella. Luckily they had spare umbrellas and lent us two of them. I highly recommend this place. read more

Went there last week with my sisters shopping and we all ended up getting a new pair of shades each! we tried on about every pair there were on the shelves to find what we wanted and Steve was just very patient and professional he even helped us look for a specific model/style online that my sister wanted but they didn't have it in stock at the time, so he helped her order it and we also requested for brand new pairs each because we didn't want the ones on display so he did it without a doubt, unlike most places i've been to they just want you take what's on display and when you ask them for anything else besides what you see, they would tell you "everything is out" or "that's all we have" like take or leave it kind of attitude. This is the second time I visit this location. The first time I got my glasses for free since my insurance cover for the eye exam and the glasses. This time when I visit, I am not longer with the old insurance so I had to pay out of pocket for my glasses. My prescription is really high. It could be uncomfortable if the frame is heavy. So, I requested titanium frame to try on. Steve showed me exactly the style of frames that I was looking for. I tried 4-5 frames and finally was able to pick one. He asked if I use the computer most of the time. I do use the computer and my phone most of the time. So, he suggested me to invest in blue light filtering lenses which it block blue light from computer and other devices. He also offered a full refund if I am not satisfied with the product within 30 days of purchase. I highly recommend this place. The sales associate know their clients and deliver outstanding customer services. I didn't feel pressure to purchase anything. I made my decision to purchase the glasses because Steve offered the product I was looking for, a product that meet my needs and a product that I was willing to pay. read more
