The doctor here is AMAZING. He is so helpful and considerate and really takes the time to explain what's happening with your eyes. One of the only eye doctors I've been to where you aren't rushed through the process and left confused/dizzy. Some of the staff members who work out front (one in particular) are unhelpful & even rude at times. Most of the others are nice but they're usually swamped with customers. This is not necessarily the place to go if you're going to spend hours looking for a pair of glasses or expecting a lot of individual attention while trying on different pairs. But they seem to have a pretty good selection! read more

While the doctor is kind and patient the staff is not. They do not answer the phone. They let it go to the fax machine. After several attempts I was able to place an order for my contacts, but never got a call back when they were ready. If you are understaffed please hire another person. To make a long story short, I needed new glasses. I chose Oasis Vision Center because of it's proximity to my home and because they took my insurance. While the service was fantastic, I can only give three stars. The reason for the three stars is that my initial contact for the appointment fell on deaf ears. They never responded to my email and there was no way to leave a message to schedule an appointment if I called after hours. I finally was able to reach them to make an appointment, but that was only after my first try where I only received a busy signal. If I hadn't kept trying to reach them, I might have gone somewhere else. read more

Walk ins welcomed! Yes, my UFT Optical Certificate was about to expire and the folks at Oasis took me in quickly. Made an appointment for the same day! Dr. P. (Cause I can't remember his name) checked my eyes for all sorts of eye troubles and I felt so comfortable in his care. The staff were so friendly yet professional, and knowledgeable about my insurance. Go here and make an appointment. No matter how cheap you get your glasses online, you still need to have your eyes examined by a professional. Oh by the way, I have been experiencing more allergies than normal and the Dr gave me a prescription for that! You can't get a prescription from the online glass company. I am never coming back here. I had an eye exam a year ago here where I purchased 2 pairs of glasses as well as contact lenses. The glasses were suppose to be picked up the next week. However, the contact lenses were given to me the same day. I am upset the fact when I went to reorder contacts lenses again an older woman told me to write my name and date of birth in a piece of paper and when they receive the order for my lenses then she will call me. After a week, I called her. They informed me it takes 2 weeks to order. After a whole month, I asked them when will my contact lenses arrive. They told me I never asked them to place an order. At this point, I was furious. I do not like to yell or complain so I asked them kindly for my prescription. I went to another nearby optical that gave me my contact lenses the same day. Ok, literally the WORST experience I've had with trying to get the right prescription or even the prescription to begin with. The doctor gave my mother an exam, then after she told him that the -4.75 lens works great on both eyes he goes ahead and gives her trials for -4.75 and writes her a prescription for -4.50 & -4.25...-4.25 was her last lens and she couldn't see in them which is why she went to the doctor in the first place!!! That way he's forcing her to come back for a prescription and try to sell her contacts and glasses right there and then so she won't have the right prescription to even order online or go anywhere else. Now let's talk about the glasses that they messed up as well. We chose a certain frame from their store and they went ahead and gave us a COMPLETELY different one when we handed them the frames in their hands giving them what we want. I don't understand how a medical business can be so messed up. THANKFULLY Britney was finally able to help and make things right, she wasn't the one helping us in the beginning but she took care of us last minute. This experience was EXHAUSTING!!!! read more

I lost my one of my contacts(i have 2 different prescriptions in each eye) and the order was gonna take about a week. He gave me a sample to hold me over. I needed a repair for glasses i didn't even buy from them FREE of charge! New lenses in to owned/gifted frames got insurance to approve that. Simply amazing! I started going to this place 6 years ago. The doctor is very professional and he really cares about his patients. Customer service is good, maybe not excellent, because the girls are very young!.. But I like to give chance to everybody, because they have to start somewhere and get the experience. I would like to give 5 stars but, It's one lady, that's always seating in the front, that only helps whoever she wants. Whoever she doesn't want to help, she sends them to the front desk, with no smile and no manners at all. I been there with the store completely full and she doesn't move to helps her co-workers. She looks like, she has problems. I think she's expired already and is time to go!... But if you need somebody to fix your glasses well and give a very good service, ask for the spanish girl in the lab, that is always singing. I forgot her name, but she always fix my kids glasses and they love her, because she treats them like her own kids and make them laugh. .. I seen so many bad messages, but I think this people should put themselves in those girls position and try to give them a chance. I was a walk in today with no appointment and was treated like royalty. I was able to get my exam from Dr. Stavos Perlegis in a just a couple of minutes. Dr.Perlegis made me feel very much at ease. His chair side manner is 2nd to none. He's warm, friendly, soft spoken & very knowledgeable. It's as if he has no pulse (LOL). He gave my eyes a total exam and told me that my prescription had barely changed since my last exam so we discussed my options for a new pair of sunglasses and I was totally satisfied with his professionalism. The lovely ladies up front explained meticulously how much the exam, frames, & lenses would cost me and I was able to choose from an array of different sized frames, colors & styes and without being rushed for a second. Joanna & Reem treated me like family & I was totally pleased with my whole experience. As s matter of fact, Reem even offered me singing lessons. (Just joking). I'll be looking forward to picking up my new glasses and getting to see my new friends & family again. I've been coming here for years, the optometrist is great! The counter girls are cute but their customer service sucks!!!

I have horrible vision but I am really bad about going in for checkups. Therefore, I've walked by this place for the past 3 years and never thought anything about them. I didn't even think I'd use them for whenever I did decide to get my eyes checked. But I decided today to go because I wanted to get a checkup before I start my new job and my insurance expires. They were listed as a participating provider and since they're right around the corner from me, I thought, why not? I called to set up an appointment and a very friendly lady answered and said I could just walk in anytime during their business hours. I went in around noon and both ladies at the desk were very pleasant and friendly. Not an ounce of the typical NY attitude! While I waited for the doctor, the other ladies were helping customers and they were so incredibly friendly to everyone! I caught myself smiling and laughing along too! The doctor who saw me was very professional and pleasant as well. Once he was finished, I went back to the front to pick out frames. The girl who helped me was very knowledgeable about what would work for me and made the decision process very easy and quick. I never write reviews, but as I was standing in their office, I decided that I would because they were so great! Update: I gave them 5 stars but I downgraded them to 4 because they are very bad about returning phone calls and email. After my visit, I remembered that I had forgotten to ask them a question about the glasses I ordered. I called on 2 different days and they said they would call me back because they were so busy. No call back. I also emailed but did not receive a response. 2015 Update: I gave them 5 stars when I first went in 2011, then down to 4 on my second visit, Now I'm giving 3 on my 3rd. The doctor is very nice and if it were just him, I'd give him 5 stars. However, the front desk staff are VERY unprofessional and rude. I walked in and there were 3 girls behind the desk. There was one lady at the desk being helped on so I stood just a bit behind until one of the staff was ready. I stood there for a good 4-5 minutes without a single greeting from anyone. When they started helping people who were behind me, I finally asked them if I needed to fill out something. Later, when I was in the back area, one of the girls was sitting at a desk talking on her cell swearing and gossiping. The doctor should really do his business a favor and hire new staff. read more

They fight with all their customers and very rude to them they can't find customers' files and they cheat u they don't give u what you pay for. My family has been coming here for a number of years and customer service and the Opomitrist are very knowledgeable, polite and extremely helpful. The front desk staff, although as someone stated are young girls (and adorable) know their stuff. I would just recommend coming for an eye exam and calling it a day. Do not opt for other services or products. Back to the service. I came here with insurance and I didn't get the proper discount that should have been applied for a special coating. They billed for frames when I brought in my own frames, insurance fraud! I was told that I only have to wait "a few days" for the glasses to be returned to me. Here I am, 3 weeks later writing a yelp review because it's still gonna take "a few days" more. What is really going on at this place? I came to this place because my friend who has been coming here for years recommended this small local business. However, after this shocking encounter, we will both no longer patron this small local business. This is a great place to get an eye exam for glasses and contacts. In bay ridge I've been rejected by 2 eye doctors who wouldn't file a claim for my eye exams. However, the doctor here did! Idk his name but he's there Wednesday and Saturday. He is very informative. He answered all of my questions and did push me into buying his contacts or glasses. The place is kinda small and there are a lot of patients. So it does get crowded. Yet, idc because he was sweet. The staff is kind too. read more

I've been going here for years since I was kid 20 plus years ago for contact lenses and glasses so nice best in bay ridge.

Very bad. It was supposed to be a quick and inexpensive replacement of old scratched lenses with new ones, same prescription. First they break my frames. They take no ownership for this - it is basically the frame's fault for breaking. Now to get frames the same shape to fit the lenses they have made for the original frames are $300.00 - no discount is available. Fast forward a few months and yesterday I am at my new optometrist who points out that the lenses are so poorly made that were the center of one of the lenses is barely within my eye socket let alone centered on the eye itself. Lousy service, complete lack of customer focus, and remarkably poor craftsmanship. read more

The only reason why I am giving three stars is because the Doctor is excellent and he is extremely nice. Now the girls behind the counter on the other hand, (particularly one, I think her name is Miriam ), are very rude. I was treated by this girl so mean and she offered zero help to me while I wanted to pick out glasses. I fell in love with some Fendis but the fact that she was such a bitch just made me get a pair that my insurance fully paid for. I didn't even order my contacts from this place because I hated the service. I came back to this place a few days later because my husband needed to get his eye exam to renew his license, this same girl was practically kissing my husband's ass and tried being nice to me but it was too damn late because my fingers were getting busy on yelp. Anyway, I advice people to come on a Saturday, she seems to be a bit more nice, if not then come with your man, she likes to kiss ass. I have been coming to this place for more than 7 years because the optometrist, Dr. Stavros Perlegis, always solve my eye issues. He always take his time to examine my eyes and listen to any concerns I could have. I have been to many optometrists and ophthalmologists but none of them could do the job as Dr. Perlegis. Once time, I had something that bothered my eyes for 2 days, I went to two different Ophtamologists and none of them could really help me. They said it was eye dryness and gave me some eye drops which it didn't help. I went to Dr. Perlegis, he examined my eyes carefully and found an eye lash inside my eye lid so he carefully removed that eye lash with an Q-tip and prescribed an eye ointment. Dr. Perlegis was so helpful and professional. He could solve my eye issue because he took his time to examine my eye,also listen and care about his patient. I am sure the others eye doctors I visited have the knowledge to examine people eye but they just didn't care enough to find out the real issue. I am so glad I found Dr. Perlegis, he is my eye doctor for life as long as I live in NYC. This is how loyal I am to this place. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 stars because sometimes some of the store employees are rude. Some ladies often give attitude to their costumers. However, the last time I went there (last year), I realized there were some new staffs, they were friendly and professional. But the old staffs are unbelievable hard to deal with. read more

Great selection and good service. I have been going there for 8 years, and sometimes the service is hit or miss because they are so busy. It would be nice if someone acknowledged your presence when you walked in, but once you are with a salesperson, they are extremely helpful and give you their attention. The best thing about them is they will NEVER rip you off or try to upsell to you, or tell you lies or bait and switch like other places I have been to. I will never go anywhere else because they are extremely honest and are there for the customers, not just to make a buck. I get great designer glasses without paying any extra for my insurance, and the glasses are usually ready the next day. read more

This is the BEST place to get glasses and get them fixed. A few weeks ago, I took my glasses to get fixed and the young women in the front was friendly and provided excellent service. I was expecting to wait a couple days to get my glasses fixed, however I was able to pick them up the same day. Now last week I went to visit the doctor, Dr. Stavros, and he was very thorough and explained everything to me. Not once did I feel like I was asking any stupid questions like some of the other doctors I've went to in the past made me feel. I was looking for a reasonable optometrist for a detailed eye exam. Right from the start over the phone I was treated so kind. Boy it really all does start with the phone call. They cared about getting me in and making it convenient for me. When I had to reschedule it was done with a happy heart. The doctor was wonderful. She took her time and addressed all of my concerns. I had called around to other offices, boy they sure need to learn some customer service, they could have cared less about me and my situation. I am so happy I found this office and its wonderful doctor and staff. I will definitely recommend this place. This place is a joke! I went up have my frames adjusted and the girl put my glasses in some hot liquid that cracked the Transition coating on my lenses. A few days later the doctor said he tried to get my insurance to pay for the lenses and they said no, so he was doing me a favor and paying for them himself ! Why should he go through my insurance for his money mistake! He replaced my lenses but they never got dark in the fun. The idiot doctor either didn't know they weren't transitions or he thought he could pass them on to me and I wouldn't say anything. WRONG! I went back and he had to order new lenses again-he thought he could get cheaper lenses but idiot had to now pay for 2 sets! Won't be going back to that lousy place. read more

I have been to many Doctors over the years but none like Dr! Perlegis! a total perfectionist and precise in his knowledge of the human eye! I have a very difficult prescription and no one has been able to conquer the problem over the years and of course was charged hundreds of dollars to know avail! I was recommended by a friend years ago to try Oasis Vision Center and have had great success with his expertise!
