I went to get my 2015 vehicle smogged at Benny's Smog Check. Benny came out to cordially greet me and asked how he could help me. Told him I needed my car smogged, handed my keys, it was immediately taken into the smog stall. I was sitting in the waiting area no more than 7 minutes and my car was done! The inspection and certificate was $55.00, not bad for a Star verified station, whereas I went to visit a non-star certified station and they wanted $60.00. I'll be back in 2027 and recommend Benny's Smog Station to others. read more

Refused Honored Coupon: Despite presenting a valid $5.00 coupon, the owner refused to honor it. No explanation was given. "Failed" Smog Check With NO Paperwork: After paying $45.00 for a test on Thursday, May 29, 2025, I was told my car failed. Crucially, I was given ZERO official paperwork--no report, no certificate, no documentation of the failure or test results. This is highly irregular and suspicious. Paid for a Service Not Rendered/Verified: Paying $45 for a smog check should result in a documented outcome (pass or fail). Without any paperwork, there is no proof that the test was performed correctly or that the failure is legitimate. Conclusion: This business appears to operate dishonestly. Refusing valid coupons, charging for tests, then withholding legally required documentation ("failing" a car without proof) is unacceptable. I received poor service and feel financially taken advantage of. Do not risk your time or money here. read more

This place (Benny) is a con. He overcharged for a battery. He gave me false records for my warranty. He tried to get to friendly and touchy. Made me uncomfortable. Do not trust him or take your car there. He is untrustworthy and will take you for your money. I think the only reason he is still in business is because of the smog. But can't trust him there either. He will charge you even after knowing you won't pass. He did my oil changes and put used oil in my car every time. read more

DISHONEST & FRAUD ALERT! My elderly mom received her vehicle registration renewal notice. She mistakenly took it in for a smog check. I saw the paperwork afterwards that she paid $55 cash for a smog check her car didn't need. I called the shop asking to speak with the manager / owner. I was told there's no manager or owner and the person on the phone refused to give me his name. The guy on the phone replied, "She didn't show me no paper that her car didn't need a smog. We don't check every car that comes in. All we do is scan and smog. You can go ahead and call the bureau of repair, go right ahead. Do whatever you want." The person again, refused to give his name. FRAUDULENT BUSINESS!! Don't take your car here. This guy is a fraud. He charged me $360 to repair some valve for my car to pass smog. Car passed smog, then the issue he supposedly fixed returned. I called him about it, and he tried to back out of all responsibility, basically not guaranteeing his work. Mind you, the car barely gets driven because I have another I use more often. I believe he didn't fix anything but charged me $360 to pass the smog, which is illegal. I took my vehicle here for a smog inspection. Benny is a really shady person. I have a modified air intake on my vehicle which is a Nismo, a Nissan geniue part but I did not have the carb sticker for it. As soon has he opened the hood and saw the modified air intake with no carb sticker, an honest business person would have notified me that he could not pass the vehicle without it. Instead he proceeded to continue with the inspection knowing very well he would be failing my vehicle. I know the visual inspection is part of the smog inspection and technically he started the inspection but it was shady on his behalf to continue after it took him about 3 minutes to pull my vehicle in and open the hood and see the modified air intake with no carb sticker. I was not aware a carb sticker is required for any modified parts, but I've been having my vehicle smog with this modified air intake since 2009 and no other smog technician has ever questioned the air intake after seeing it was a Nismo. Also when I returned for the retake after replacing the original air intake back on to my vehicle, the invoice stated it would be a $25.00 retake fee. Before paying him, I confrimed by asking, "It's $25.00, right?'" he said yes. He never advised me of a $3 credit card fee which I was not charged this first time with my vehicle did not pass. read more

Took my car in for a smog check but somehow it failed. So did others that were there. Strange. He said my light was on and he failed and charged me. Why wouldn't he bring that to my attention before attempting to test. I looked but there was no light. "Code" he gave me was not even a real code. Said I could bring it back for retest with cheaper fee. Went back and they wouldn't honor the promise. He called me a liar and wouldn't do the retest unless I paid full amount. I called the shop on a Saturday morning and they were very prompt to get me in that same day. My van (an older model) had to have the computer system re-booted and the technician was VERY patient in explaining the issues. The technician walked me through what had to be done and within a short time my van was ready and had passed smog. The technician was very knowledgeable and helpful.
