Unfair of me to write this review, since I didn't actually get to purchase any donuts from them - though I went in to their fine establishment fully intending to do so.... I needed to pick up five dozen donuts to give to five different customers. I'm not a price shopper, and I tend to support local businesses that have a reputation for quality products. Benny's seemed to fit that bill from all the positive Yelp reviews. There were two employees when I entered the store at about 8:30 on a Wednesday morning. Two customers were seated, enjoying a few donuts and some artisanal coffee beverages. One customer was standing at the espresso machine, which was manned on the other side by a female employee fiddling with the many dials and knobs. To her right was a young gentleman demonstrating the most painstakingly focussed display of donut decorating concentration imaginable. Working from a small tray of what appeared to be a freshly made dozen cake donuts, he took each donut one-by-one and hand dipped, papered, sprinkled, dabbed, fluffed, and preened to perfection. It was an amazing thing to watch. His dedication to craft was punctuated by his furled brow and his tongue poking from the corner of his mouth. Wow! After three minutes, and three completed donuts, he broke his concentration and looked up - giving me a grunt in the brief split-second of eye contact he could spare. I threw some donut making gang signs at him, and said, "Whattup Man-Bun?" Or rather I just imagined myself doing that, as I was slowly bring lulled into some weird dream state where all thoughts of what an actual profitable donut vending establishment is were somehow being scrambled and rearranged in my skull. Things got weird from here on. I remember the fourth minute welcoming the fourth donut. I looked away and to the right, and in some slow motion misunderstanding of time and space, I thought I saw the coffee lady actually talking to a coffee plant - trying to coax the bush into ripening a small handful of beans so she could harvest, dry, roast, grind, and then brew them into another cup of coffee. I looked back and the fifth minute produced the fifth donut.... After six minutes, the donut fascination part of my brain got shivved by OBSERVATION. The OBSERVATION department pointed out that there were no cases full of donuts on display. No pre-mades, no nothing.... MATH came to the party and interjected its opinion that five dozen donuts at one minute per donut would take one hour to produce - and I hadn't even ordered yet. Before the seventh donut could land on its pillow, the Hypo-mobilus portion of my brain (pretty sure that's what it's called) turned me on my heels and marched me out the door, placing me safely behind the wheel of my Sales Camry so we could go secure five dozen donuts elsewhere - hopefully before lunchtime. read more

Benny's Donuts is quite the gem in Corvallis. It used to be like a unicorn, a mythical creature that you could only catch deliveries if you preordered, but now?! They've opened a storefront & are going to rock it even more in Corvallis! They have high quality freshly made donuts that are absolutely DEEELICIOUS (EVERY flavor)!! The best part is they have the best customer service, which I hold to the highest regard because these days it can be hard to find. The donut barista stood there menacingly throwing the donut back and forth from hand to hand like a badly dubbed 70s Kung fu flick bad guy with a switchblade until you told her which gravy you preferred then WHAM! Into the sauce she slams it. I was strangely excited by this primal display and ordered several more donuts than I had planned until the crowd started murmuring. I'll be back. These doughnuts are great! Every time we've gone they're fresh and you can choose you own toppings that are placed on the doughnut fresh in front of you. They also have different/unique flavors, not you Super market store bought generic flavors. They have a great selection of coffees as well. I guess I was expecting something very different. All the donuts are the same and then they add different toppings. I got several different flavor toppings, but nothing wowed me. I got a cherry one and a Marion berry. They were okay but they tasted pretty close to the same. No fritters, no bizmarks, nothing really all that unique. Awesome donuts especially for the gluten allergic and vegan set. I had an amazing maple and sea salt donut and a chocolate almond donut. I shared a few bites with my wife and friends to rave reviews. Not bad for a GF and vegan baked good. Their regular German chocolate cake, maple glazed, and chocolate coconut went down so fast I didn't even have time to take a picture. The doughnuts are smallish, have good dense texture, and aren't greasy. The size is perfect given the flavor and density. Frankly it's a sugary doughnut so you'll be fine with two. My friends and I stopped in to give Benny's a try since they are new to us (they popped up right after we graduated from OSU). I would give 5 stars since they made us wait for hot/fresh donuts. The BEST donuts in town! My friends and I usually come here as a treat for when we walk from campus to the farmer's market. Honestly, you could never have too much food. Anyway, the donut is made fresh and it's so soft, cakey, and crunchy. The toppings are dipped in front of you as you order, so sometimes the lines get a little backed up, but it's so worth it! Benny's is a really cool little Donut shop in town, and it's the perfect Saturday morning stop after the farmers market. They hand dip these fresh small donuts in the glaze and add toppings right in front of you. You really can't get a fresher donut than that. I could list all of the flavors that I love, but I'd be listing off the menu. The classic flavors are done really well, and seasonal flavors are excellent and creative. The Marionberry with Rosemary was my favorite, but I recommend getting the dozen in a box.
