The doughnuts were cold and they all tasted like those cheap powdered sugar doughnuts you buy at the store. Exceeded my expectations! Went in for the first time today to pick up a dozen donuts for my crew at work and was surprised to learn that they make them fresh all day long. I enjoyed watching them get individual dipped and dressed with delicious colors and flavors. Only took about 4 minutes to have me paid and on my way. This place is BOMB!!!! It's a little spendy, and they are (weirdly) usually out of water, which I know seems like a small thing but I always leave there needing more water which is a bit annoying. They ice the donuts right in front of you, and they are small enough that you typically enjoy two when you go! They do delivery, which is never not worth it, and the shop is cute and local. The best thing about Benny's donuts is the plain donut itself. He told me that it was his grandmother's recipe and a family secret! I also like that they have interesting icings, like lavender black pepper (I know..sounds weird, but it's really good). However, instead of drizzling icing over the top of the donuts, they dip the donuts upside down into the icing, which is kind of thick so that you end up with too much icing and you can't taste the great donut underneath. I was blown away by their gluten free donuts. They were crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside. Not dense like so many other gluten free baked goods. I love Benny's donuts! Their delivery is a great option but I really enjoy going to their storefront. The staff is super nice and does a great job of explaining everything and all of the possible combinations outside of the menu, like adding peanut butter to the Marionberry donut to make it PB&J, or espresso powder on the Maple Sea Salt donut. So great! And of course super delicious! The donuts in store are also still warm and dipped to order. It's a very unique donut style that I can't get enough of! Their cold brew is also excellent! Benny's is definitely the best place in town for Donuts. Honestly, I don't usually even like donuts, but these are addictive. The donuts are dipped to order, so they are always fresh. They have traditional flavors like chocolate, maple, and cinnamon and sugar, as well as specialty flavors like salted carmel, lavender, and German chocolate, which is amazing. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars is that they have been understaffed on more than one occasion. On game nights and when the university is holding events, it can get busy, and having additional help would make the long waits go a little faster. The last time we went, the line from the door to the counter took 15 minutes. Overall though, this would not stop me from coming back. The donuts are so good, they are worth the wait. read more
