The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. All that needed to be done was some minor mold remediation and replacement of the pump. Contrast that with two other estimates we had obtained (before we remembered the warranty) that didn't find the faulty sump pump, and wanted to replace drains and do major mold remediation for thousands more dollars, rather than just treating the moldy area. We then got proposals from two other local companies. Though Value Dry was not the lowest quote, we felt by far the most comfortable using them. And we are very glad we did. Our entire basement, which is entirely below grade, has (had!) water seepage due to hydrostatic pressure (water is forced into the house from underground), especially this last year with all of the rain we've had. And we have a huge basement. Markus proposed a new french drain around the entire interior perimeter of our basement, all of the exterior walls: 210 linear feet in total (we have a big basement). He explained in-depth what they proposed to do and why and how. They also added a second sump pump for us. And a battery back-up pump. They sent a crew of just three guys. Roger was the foreman, and you just have to love that guy. Great personality and he calmly and politely answered every question I had (I'm a detail freak). They were fantastic. They kept everything as clean as possible (not completely, but you can only do so much for concrete dust from jackhammers). Their work was very detail-oriented. It was cool seeing the destruction followed by the construction, laying down the new PVC underground drainage pipes, the new concrete on top of it, etc. Roger and I had discussions throughout the week about how best to do several things, like where and how to place the clean-outs (we have two) for the pipes. Bottom line: Look no further. They are honest. Not too expensive. And they deliver exactly what they say they will. Also, just a few weeks after completing our basement they did a smaller job for my in-laws, also local. They were just as happy with their work and with both Markus and Roger and his crew as we were. They charged us over $6500 for the water pump replacement. It was ridiculous…read more The guy emphasized that we use a higher horse power water pump (commercial use) and that it will cost double the regular residential use ones. He even showed me the bills he charged others. It is a such a big mistake that we did not do much research on water pumps and plumbers. They initially showed up on Friday morning (and we paid half of the amount that day) and came back on Saturday and told us they would need a crane to pull the old pipes & pump up. They didn't show up on Sunday. On Monday, they pulled the old pump up and put the "new" defective pump in. Of course the water pump didn't work. They were not sure why it didn't work. On Tuesday, they pulled the pump up again and argued among themselves about the cause of problem. On Wednesday, they brought a new pump and finally finished installing it. It took us 6 days to have the new water pump. It was not pleasant to live without water for that long. Still, we paid 6500 bucks, 2-3 times of what people usually pay. Just so you know, the pump itself cost less than $1.5k. The price for the commercial use pump is only slightly expensive than the regular residential use one. Just look for the honest company and stay away from these guys.
