Unfortunately I've been to others around here and they aren't nearly as fast or knowledgeable. I've been here a few times now and they almost know what I need just from a description of what I'm looking for. It's quite impressive. If you have a choice of this store or another one that may be a little closer, I would head here because you will probably save time overall.

I had a list of paint colors I'd wanted to check out, and he half-heartedly went and got two of them for me before going back to his phone. I assumed it was an off day and decided to give them another try the next week, only to find them "closed for lunch". Another customer was outside wondering why they would be randomly closed at 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. Giving them an extra star because the shop itself is clean, and you really have to work hard to get a one-star review from me. That said, based on my two experiences, I don't recommend this shop.

I haven't experienced such callousness as a customer in a long time.

I was the only customer at first in the store, so I was assisted right away. They patiently answered my questions and helped me pick out an appropriate paint type. As one of the employees continued restocking, the other worked on matching the paint color. I had believed Sherwin-Williams had a color match machine. However, she instead matched the color through trial and error. It took a while, but she was able to get the color very close. It is not exact, but close enough so serve its temporary purpose. Prior to finishing the paint, the employee ensured that I was satisfied with the color. She then gave tips for touching up the walls and found coupons. She also created an account for us to save the paint colors. Overall, we are satisfied and would purchase paint from here again.

I always use SW for my painting needs, even though there are TWO paint stores closer to my home…read more The people who work here are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and honest. Their products are consistently good. We went in today to get advice on refinishing our kitchen cabinets in the easiest way possible. When I told her we didn't want to prime, she suggested a paint that would most likely work well over slightly sanded cabinets. She also told us the price before mixing it to prevent sticker shock, and found a coupon we could use. She mentioned a product to clean the cabinets first, but I ignored it (again, being lazy on this very time consuming project). She brought the product to me and in a very "you really need to do this" voice without being at all pushy recommended it again. And you know what? She was absolutely right! I couldn't believe how much dirt and grease came off my cabinets even though we wipe them down all the time! I often find the paint sample area to be a bit messy with people's trash, and paint samples scattered about, but I can easily overlook this due to the high level of customer service.

I went to Reckless on a mission. I'd tested many colors on the walls of my office, found the…read moreperfect shade of gray and was subsequently disappointed by the paint quality. The sample was thin, clumpy and just of poor quality. Being an inexperienced painter in the digital age, I turned to online reviews for recommendations for high quality paint. Enter Reckless Paint, one of the only Benjamin Moore paint suppliers in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. If you're looking for an old-school, friendly paint shop, this is the place to go. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The owner helped me decide which type of paint I needed, matched the color perfectly to the sample I'd loved and made sure that I purchased the right amount of paint. They did mistakenly make an eggshell instead of a matte finish. I wasn't picky and could have been easily convinced that eggshell was a better option. They didn't push a 'well, eggshell is superior' sale on me. Instead, they profusely apologized and gave me a 50% discount! That's customer service. I hadn't expected anything like that (and to be honest, was completely fine with the eggshell after they showed me the eggshell paint on their walls and gave me instructions on how I should use the paint). They carried multiple types of paint (I bought and loved the low VOC Devine paint...no priming and I only needed 1 coat to cover brown walls). I also saw paint supplies- rollers, brushes, drop cloths, etc and stains for wood. When the urge to change the colors of my walls strikes again, I'll definitely return to Reckless. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for quality paint and service.
