I went to Reckless on a mission. I'd tested many colors on the walls of my office, found the…read moreperfect shade of gray and was subsequently disappointed by the paint quality. The sample was thin, clumpy and just of poor quality. Being an inexperienced painter in the digital age, I turned to online reviews for recommendations for high quality paint. Enter Reckless Paint, one of the only Benjamin Moore paint suppliers in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. If you're looking for an old-school, friendly paint shop, this is the place to go. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The owner helped me decide which type of paint I needed, matched the color perfectly to the sample I'd loved and made sure that I purchased the right amount of paint. They did mistakenly make an eggshell instead of a matte finish. I wasn't picky and could have been easily convinced that eggshell was a better option. They didn't push a 'well, eggshell is superior' sale on me. Instead, they profusely apologized and gave me a 50% discount! That's customer service. I hadn't expected anything like that (and to be honest, was completely fine with the eggshell after they showed me the eggshell paint on their walls and gave me instructions on how I should use the paint). They carried multiple types of paint (I bought and loved the low VOC Devine paint...no priming and I only needed 1 coat to cover brown walls). I also saw paint supplies- rollers, brushes, drop cloths, etc and stains for wood. When the urge to change the colors of my walls strikes again, I'll definitely return to Reckless. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for quality paint and service.

There seems to be a good supply of quality products and supplies on hand to cover most of your painting requirements I'm a big fan of Benjamin Moore paints which I've used for about 30 years. Once back in Durham, I stopped into the Hillsborough location in search of a different paint scheme for my new home. I spent nearly an hour mulling over paint chips and brochures. NOT ONCE was I acknowledged by any staff member, or offered assistance. I finally left with a handful of possible options. When it came time to order the paint, I left that to Four Seasons, the painters I hired. I have no intention of returning to the SW store on Hillsborough again. There is no excuse for the lack of interest they showed in me that day. There are other SW locations in the area to patronize. AVOID THIS ONE!
