We were having a recurring problem with the flush valve on a new toilet. The leak kept recurring draining into the toilet, so there was no water on the floor just the water level continually refreshing itself wasting a lot of water. The toilet was purchased and installed by BF Plumbing. And to their credit they were out promptly each time I called that the issue continued. After calling the office this last time, Josue Garcia-Rivas arrived later that afternoon. He was prepared for the work, having already read the history of the problem and attempts at its fix. After his examination his recommendation was to replace the entire toilet. The rationale was that it was addressed so many times without attaining a solution, the only thing left was to replace the unit. He showed up the next morning with the new toilet and installed it in a very efficient and professional manner. He kept the area clean and made sure he cleaned up at the end. All good. I had an issue with the technician not explaining to my wife (I was at work) the cost to my wife for relighting the water heater pilot light. In response to the owner's statement, I'm just going to reiterate everything that was wrong with our experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. · It was exactly $376 for a toilet installation + a $70 extra charge, that apparently is demanded this no matter what. · They may or may not tell you about this extra charge. · It was a brand new toilet, and pulled right out of the box. · After the installation, the plumber left the toilet leaking. · When he came back, he was rude. · The plumber refused to guarantee his work unless we paid more money on top of the $445, because we had purchased the new toilet from Lowes, and not from Benjamin Franklin Company. · We ended up installing the toilet ourselves. · This company admits they do not itemize their parts and labor, because they know they are severely overcharging you. About the $70 extra charge: This is not a minimum charge, which would make sense, It is an EXTRA CHARGE, on top of the work they will do once they get there. We were not informed of it. There was no text/email about it either. Pictured below are the only text messages we got from them. The owner disagrees, but other people have had the same experience. The reason why this is bad, was because: 1. This was a service we didn't ask for. 2. We didn't even need it. We could have gotten the toilet repaired the following week. We never asked to pay $70 for a plumber to arrive in three hours or to do any of the aforementioned tests. And then once the plumber installed the toilet, he left it leaking. This was a steady drip that could have potentially caused damage in the rental home it was being used for. We ended up replacing the seals around the tank to be thicker and installed the toilet ourselves -- for much less than $400. This owner admits that the company does not itemize the parts and labor: she is essentially admitting that Benjamin Franklin Company is not transparent with their costs. No, I was not satisfied with my level of service. The whole experience was not the level of service I would expect to receive when paying this amount of money. Some of the issues are listed below: -Pricing changed during the install due to plumber not checking to make sure the line he cut was connected to anything else besides the backyard hydrants. He cut the line for the backyard which was also connected to the cold water in the house. So they came back saying it would be 5000 something more dollars to fix but were able to get it down to 2100. -Cut one of the hydrants out of the yard but left 2 inches sticking out of the ground instead of making it flush. Did not bother cutting out the 2nd hydrant out like said they would. -He left without checking to make sure the water was running. My Dad was there and checked and had to call dispatch to call him and tell him the cold water was not working and that is how we ended up with the price increase noted above. You think a plumber would check these things before leaving a job that is "complete". -There was dirt left on my walkway at my front door and on the house. Also, on the wall tile in the bathroom looked to be blood but might have been dirt. All this was left for me to clean up. -Ran the plumbing outside the house instead of under in the crawl space and in the garage it was ran on the outside wall instead of inside. (pics attached) When he was selling the service, he said they would drill through the foundation to run the pipe under ground. When we asked why he ran it through the crawl space vent holes he said they do not drill through foundations. -Left the old pipes exposed in the garage instead of removing them or cutting them out. My dad removed them and even mentioned something about the copper pipe that was still in the wall and the plumber still just left it there. -In the garage instead of running the plumbing through the studs he just went over the top of them. We were planning on putting sheet rock up in my garage and now the plumbing causes a problem. -The grounding of my house was cut when replacing one of the old galvanized pipes and it failed inspection and they told me I would have to have an electrician come out to do it at my expense that this was not something they did. After speaking to them and letting them know that we were not happy about this they did have an electrician come out and ground the house me with no charge for me like they originally said. I would not recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing to anyone and even steer them clear of going with them if they were going to. read more

I had contracted Ben Franklin Plumbing to move my gas line in my kitchen remodel. I was in communication with them for several months on the progress of the work. I scheduled and put a down payment on the job totaling around $3690 and confirmed a date and time. I received 10 reminders of the appointment time and date and on the day of nobody showed up. This is even after I had a text notification that the plumber was on the way at 8 am. After 4 hours of waiting I called the office. They then rescheduled the work for the following day. I had to call another company to dig the trench Ben Franklin had said they would do and never showed up. The other contractors worked until 9 pm digging my trench with the intention of Ben Franklin finishing the plumbing. The next day Ben Franklin came out and told me that they cannot do the work for the price agreed upon in the original quote and left me high and dry with a shrug of their shoulders and a "sorry." Still waiting on my down payment to be reimbursed but this will take 3-5 business days. I would never recommend this company to anyone asking and cannot believe their lack of integrity. After I woke up from a dead faint, I realized I was out an $80 service call even if I elected to pass and try someone else. Plus, no guarantee on what the next estimate would be. Unhappily, I told Jose to proceed. He did a fine, professional job. Still, I was shocked to discover that the valve wasn't made of solid gold after all. New home owner, not much experience with regards to plumbing. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing from my experience does not have ethical integrity, employing plumbers or allowing plumbers to use their brand. My plumber came to assess my issue, paid for a service fee looked around the house, checked the water meter, and water pressure things that anyone can do and provided me with information I already knew. Then charged me for a "diagnostic fee" on top without even fixing or letting me know plumbing issue in which the call was made for. And they wanted to come back and dig up the yard in order to rule out possible issues. New home owners Steer clear of this company and find a more ethical and family oriented plumbing provider. Benjamin Franklin (depending on the plumber) will scam you for your money. Oh and called another plumber which is more trustworthy gave me advice over the phone for FREE and said if it did not help they will come out and see free of charge. I got scammed it is a learning experience for me however I would like to help save other individuals money. Update: spoke with the management team. Kitchen faucet was not dispensing hot water. Plumber came in, gave it a cursory look, then said it would be better to replace the unit. He then pulled out his catalog, with faucet prices starting at $1,000, a 500% mark-up from Home Depot. The installation would be another $495, but he said he would waive the $50 service fee. What a nice guy. As a retiree on a fixed income, I think that it's predatory to attempt to upsell as your first reaction. We have used them in the past quite a bit, but I am done, now that I have seen how they operate. He did show up on time though. read more

Need a plumber? Do not call Benjamine Franklin under any circumstances. I had a wall hydrant damaged due to the freeze. I have used thyem in the past for a dimilar situation with good results. Not this time. A wall hydrant had freeze damage and i called them to repair like I did last tim in 2019. Technicial shows up, diagnosed he issue and insists he remove brick from my house to diagnose the problem. told him the guy from Franklin who fixed it befor jsut removed the damaged part and replaced it. He kept insisting he remove bricks to diagnose the problem and would not juts remove and replace the damaged part like the technician did in 2019. I fond the part at Home Depot for 50 bucks and replaced it my self Franklin wanted to charge over 500 bucks ro remove and replace a 50 dollar part. What a rip off! read more

We had a relatively simple plumbing problem that left us with no water. We were somewhat wary of the less than stellar reviews, but they were the first ones we could get out to the house and we went for it. I'm sure the plumber that came out could have done acceptable work, but due to their corporate policy they will not do any work on older galvanized steel pipe. This would have been nice to have been brought up a head of time considering the vast majority of houses in our area have this type of plumbing, and especially considering the undiscussed service fee. A fee that they collected to come into my bathroom, look at the pipe coming out of the wall, and say we won't do anything. The whole visit took less than five minutes. My mom had problems with her bathroom plumbing. He told her it would cost $48,000 to re-do her bathroom pipes. He would have to dig up pipes from garage to bathroom because all the pipes was damaged. My mom is a elderly person and don't have that kind of money. We immediately knew my mom could not stay in house. Move my mom to my house until we could figure out what we could do. He figured out there was a shirt in the line and didn't need all the work your company said it did. How did we go from $48,000 to $1,200. Your tech should be a shame of his self. He gave me several options to consider and called to get everything delivered that he needed to complete the work I requested. We had a good conversation about a lot of topics as he worked. Around August 2016, I paid $5250 for a tankless water heater. The plumber that installed it did not do it correctly and it DID NOT PASS THE INSPECTION THE FIRST TIME with the City of Fort Worth. Another tech that came to my house was named Wes. Wes was rude to me several times until I told him to leave my house and out of revenge, he spit wet gum on my porch that I had to clean up. I wrote a review the next day online. The office manager, Courtney called me up very confrontational and very unprofessional. She told me she didn't believe Wes spit gum on my porch and she was very rude. She told me to never call them up for maintenance in the future. She screamed at me on the phone to listen to her and I hung up on her. Then they mailed me a $25 coupon for a future service in the mail. I put it in my recycle bin. After that, I had to call them up several times for issues with filter system in 2017 and 2018. Each time they came out, I always opened the door and greeted Bo the service tech manager but he was always unfriendly to me. At the end of the service session, I always said "thank you" to him multiple times and all he said was "uh-huh" and didn't even look at me. I had a drain clog upstairs and they charged $423 to unclog the drain. I think that is excessive, but paying them $69 for nothing is not a good optbecause I can't miss work and wait for another plumbing company to come out, I paid this fee and will consider it the cost of learning a lesson about that company. I suggest you ask for an approximate price before letting them dispatch to your property. The office manager called me to get a better understanding of my concerns. He explained that there were additional costs based on the difficulty of the access. After further discussion with management, I am satisfied with the service and resolution. I've used Benjamin Franklin before and the work they do is fine, but their business practices are why I would recommend avoiding them. Technicians seem to provide as little information as possible and offer the highest possible estimates. I recently received a postcard offering a "FREE SERVICE CALL"- the postcard goes out of its way to explain that the service call fee is waived...but it's only fine print in parentheses at the very bottom of the card that makes clear that this fee is only waived if you have the technician perform work that day...and "Service fee will be waived if work is done at time of call" definitely doesn't make clear that diagnostic work doesn't count. I just had a technician out to take a look at the hardware in one of my toilets that is acting up, and he was here less than ten minutes. He didn't even really look at the problem, just listened to me and then said he would completely rebuild the inside of the toilet tank and quoted a price of $285. Because I'm not having them do that work today, I paid a $69 service fee for work that they might as well have just done over the phone. In short, there are plumbers who will do free estimates, but Benjamin Franklin will not only trick customers into paying service fees, but will then highball estimates for repairs without actually diagnosing or explaining problem. I had a leaking valve on my washing machine feedline. I desperately needed a plumber so I called Ben Franklin despite the bad reviews. No one else was available. For $89, a very nice technician came out and told me I had a leaking valve (which I already knew) and they would return in the next few days to fix it for $789. Fortunately,I was able to locate a different plumber who came out on Sunday morning and did an excellent job performing the repair for under $200. The job took less than 30 minutes. Alie-----The BEST. Upbeat and friendly. Wore carpet protectors on his shoes both visits. Showed me the busted pipe behind the wall to the garden tub. Told me what it would cost to fix. I had already had a competitor come out, and he had cut the dry wall to expose the pipe, so that had already been done. Since I got a better quote from Ale, I chose them. Alie came back out after the weekend, fixed the pipe--again-showed me what he had done to repair the pipe. He cut the edges from around the old pipe and put in a new pipe piece, and secured it. I will never use anyone else but Ben Franklin. Plumbers are a crap shoot, because it is deregulated now. Go with licensed plumbers that are not working off a commision. read more

I have no way of knowing if they are good plumbers. I booked online with a 2hr window on the day before Thanksgiving, I received a conformation email that they would be there Friday the day after Thanksgiving. I then received a phone call telling me I would have to put on stand by since they were booked solid. I then received an email stating I would have a plumber out by 5pm with no wording of stand by. At 3pm I received a call that they couldn't make it and my family would have to be without hot water until the next Monday. Now they are promising an appointment at 3 to 5pm Monday. They had better be the best and the cheapest company out there for me to change this review. An update: The tech that came out, Don was outstanding. He was fast, understanding and was very knowledgeable. The techs won me over but the office staff need to take some courses on customer service. I have had a broken garbage disposal for almost 2 months, and then I had a tremendous leak in my water system occur just this last week. Due to some outlying issues finances were tough, and Richie from Benjamin Franklin plumbing worked tirelessly to find a way to accomplish both tasks and make it affordable. He was incredibly professional and the work done inside the house was done spotlessly, and I received a five year warranty on the garbage disposal. He tested retested and then tested it a third time just to make sure there were no leaks no improper fittings and that I was going to be completely satisfied. The next thing he worked on was the leak outside the house. He went above and beyond to work with in my budget and accomplish the work that needed to be done. The professionalism and quality of work was beyond reproach. He took extensive time to review the entire house and provide additional recommendations for the future completely understanding that there was going to be nothing possible at this time due to my financials. I also appreciate the fact that the work being done on two separate appointment times both times were met, both times I received calls prior to the arrival, and they even waited as I was a little bit late getting off of work today. I don't know everybody at Benjamin Franklin plumbing, but I can recommend Richie, the supervisor he worked with, and the dispatcher on both appointments. read more

Absolutely terrible and dishonest service. We called them to help stop 2 toilets from running. They guy told us we needed to buy to entire toilets to fix the issue. I'm not stupid! We also asked if they would diagnose an issue with the water heater. The guy said "We won't touch it because it's out of warranty. He then continued to tell us that we need to maintenance every year. Now, how are we supposed to get them to maintenance after the 2 year warranty runs out? Makes no sense. Next he said "Just run it until it dies without fixing it". What the?
