Benihana was actually my group's 3rd choice, because we were looking for something more low key, but they didn't meet our needs, so we knew we could rely on an old favorite, Benihana. Well, we were disappointed. It took about 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us after we were seated. She explained that no one was covering that section, so we let her off the hook. But then the availability of menu items became an issue. I wanted a mojito, but they didn't have mint. The soups and salads arrived relatively fast, but we had to wait for our table to be filled out before being assigned a chef. Once the chef arrived, he got right down to business. But we didn't get a show. He just made the food, which was good. But no onion "choo-choo", bouncing egg, or anything special. Then the checking out part was somewhat nerve racking. My friend was told he had to print out his birthday coupon for it to apply. Eventually the manager was able to print it for him. I am pretty sure we mentioned a few times it was my friend's birthday. And right as we were thinking there were no birthday songs, the table behind us got serenaded by the staff. We told the server and manager and I guess nothing could be done at that point. Well could not help to say but had to do a review at the Benihana in Memphis,TN. It was 4th of July weekend and had the day after off as well as an upcoming birthday beforehand. Anyways the food was delicious as compared to the Benihana I have when I dined and attended the one in Hoffman Estates and Lombard,IL. We just came from the Civil Rights museum and I have to say this Benihana gave larger portions of food on the menu then the one near the Chicagoland or suburban Areas. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that The staff did not or prepare the tables in which there where missing forks for people who don't know how to use chopsticks or care to use chopsticks. The Benihana locations in or near Chicago and Suburbs would set the table without asking for a fork. I had the Samurai dinner which was excellent however my other guess ordered something similar in the menu and they forgot to give them their ice cream. I had to ask which should not be. Otherwise I had a great time. Those are just the differences I notice from this Benihana in Memphis then the ones up in the Chicagoland locations read more
