I live 15 mins from a Benihanas but drove 30 mins to go to the Arcadia location thinking I was going to get great service like last time. As we did a walk in I asked the host if chef Chris was working and he said he had just left. We waited 20 mins for our table and we can see chef Chris working. Our waitress was nice but she was slow took forever to get us refills , only came once to check if we needed anything. The chef was nice but because it was only 2 of us at the table he didn't really put on a show just cooked quick and left. I don't think I will be returning to this location for a while . read more

I ordered the Land and Sea because i was in the mood for scallops, and my fiancé ordered another seafood dish with lobster and he added a steak. We also ordered shrimp fried rice, and everything Eric made was full of flavor! He even gave us extra portions and seasoning! We came here with the team to celebrate the end of year. We ordered from the lunch menu. The pricing is very reasonable and they also have a holiday menu. The server was very attentive. We came during Monday lunch and I noticed we are the only table. Our chef came quickly and our yummy order. Eric was wonderful and funny. He made sure we had our food done right. When our server sent us the bill, I asked about the chef's name again and she said he's Eric and he's the head of chef! What a wonderful experience to be served by the head of chef! Decided to come to Benihana to celebrate my friend's birthday because he has never been before. It's a fun dinner experience (yes, a little corny and kitschy) but overall, still a good time. They have tons of drinks and food options so there's something for everybody. They also ask if anyone has any allergies to anything before they start cooking. Essentially Benihana is teppanyaki where they cook your food in front of you and there's a "show" including the onion volcano, shrimp in a pocket and other fun puns as the chef is cooking. They cook your protein however you like and you get to watch while you eat. You will have to share a table with others because I believe it is 8 people per table. I ordered the Salmon and my friend ordered the Surf and Turf (steak and shrimp). You can also add items if your selected entree doesn't come with a specific protein you want (like scallops, lobster tails, etc.). In addition to your protein, the meal also comes with soup, salad, veggies (onions, mushrooms and zucchini), 3 pieces of shrimp, steamed rice and hot tea. You can upgrade your rice to fried rice with your choice of protein. If you get one of their specialty entrees, it also comes with ice cream. I loved the Salmon entree I ordered. It was so good and the Salmon was cooked perfectly! I got mine with a beef fried rice so it felt like I had my own surf and turf meal. I suggest signing up for their membership club (it's free) because you get a $30 coupon to spend on your birthday month! (Fine print is that you have to spend minimum $30 and then the coupon applies to the charges after). It's not a problem to hit the minimum spend though since most entrees are $30+. I suggest making reservations as they do get busy and arrive early to look for parking because Santa Anita mall is packed even on a Tuesday night! read more

Came here on a 6:30 PM Monday. The restaurant must have been busy because we were seated an hour later even though we had a reservation. I had to keep coming back to check in with the front but it seems like folks were new. Besides this minor hiccup, the service was hospitable. I went today and sat at the bar section. I ordered hibachi steak from the lunch menu. The steak was so gross and the vegetables were cold. The steak looked old and the taste was so bad. I cannot believe they served low quality meat now. I hope I would not get sick. They also cut down the portion a lot without any shrimp. The price is $27 but the quality has downgraded. The salad ingredients were lesser. I was so disappointed. I used to love Benihana. After today my rating on them has dropped to 1. I will not go back again ever. Haven't been here in a while. This location is in the mall. There's plenty of parking. We came in the afternoon and it wasn't crowded but there was a wait. I believe that there was a wait because there wasn't enough table chefs. We ended up just making a reservations and then we were seated. Our chef fausta was really good. He was friendly, he danced, he had a good spirit and he cooked well. We arrived at 5:00 p.m. and did not get service on the actual food until 5:50 p.m. too long await considering there were only three tables. Vivian was a nice waitress and very attentive. However, she did get our order incorrect. The food didn't have a lot of flavor, needed more seasoning. Fausta cooked the vegetables separately and served them separately when they should have been mixed up and had more seasoning. I had a great time visiting 'Benihana,' Santa Anita Mall, Arcadia., CA., for the first time yesterday. I was craving their Hibachi fried rice with chicken but ended up getting that with steak too. I placed a phone order for take out though they ask for your credit card info. Just ask them to confirm security on using credit card and request a receipt upon receiving order. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was the same as the other branch I used to go, 'City of Industry,' CA. I'm switching to Arcadia now because all my friends are here in the mall. I'll be back again soon probably like tomorrow for another take out order. This was efficient, but I should order away from rush hours because I still had to wait a tad for my phone take out order. I had a really disappointing curbside pickup experience here recently. My order (which included a pint of garlic butter) was supposed to be ready at 7:22 PM, and I submitted my car's plate number and parking location, expecting the food to be brought out as curbside usually works. But no one came. After waiting, my partner had to go inside, only to be bounced back and forth between the front desk and the host - each saying the other was supposed to handle it. No one seemed to take responsibility, and we didn't leave with the food until almost 7:40 PM. To make things worse, a staff member made a sarcastic comment asking, "What do you need all this garlic butter for?" - which felt uncalled for. We ordered a pint because we like it, and it's not their place to make jokes about a customer's order. Between the delay and the confusion it was just unprofessional. This place is terrible. They take reservations they have no room for. We arrived exactly on time for our 8pm reservation on June 27, 2025, and there were dozens of people waiting to be seated- standing up, spilling into the street. There were two different parties at the desk yelling that their reservations were for almost an hour before and they still hadn't been seated. The staff, who looked frazzled, overworked and injured (giant bandage on host's hand) said it wasn't their fault because "corporate" took bookings- not them. I asked how long our table would take and they said at least 30 minutes if not 45 minutes or an hour. And that they really didn't know because so many were waiting. We left. It's my first time going to any Benihana's. I booked this place for my bf's birthday lunch on a weekend. Firstly it took a while to get seated and get our drinks and apps. The chef took a LONG time to arrive. The table next to us got started a little bit after we sat down. We heard all of the chefs jokes and laughed w them. Do not come to this location. The managers are greedy and they don't know how to properly manage a restaurant. TLDR: We wait 1 hr 30 mins until we get a chef at our grill. No communication or warnings given by the managers. My party of two walk in at 7:00 on a Friday with a reservation for 7:15 and get seated early even though it was busy. I specifically asked for the lounge because it was packed and we get placed at the grill instead. We have our appetizers of soup and salad, then an 40 minutes go by since our appetizers with no chef. I ask the manager and he tells me that they are backed up of chefs and don't even have one available and are waiting on one to finish at another table! Why would they even seat us if they are backed up of chefs at the grill! No communication with my party and the rest of the table and we are left to wait. They do not care to communicate with us and don't even give a warning that it'll take longer so we can decide if we still want to wait. They string us along and I even ask to change to the lounge after an hour goes by since appetizers. They told me that it was best if I stayed because it would take longer. The managers have NO care for their customers and try to pack as many as possible even if they are not organized or properly staffed. A FULL HOUR AND A HALF is passed when our chef finally comes. Ridiculous. I ask the front desk to do something about the bill because the wait was excessive. The table gets a measly 20% off. Do not come to this location.
