First time getting my eyebrows done at benefit and I can say I'm absolutely amazed and in love. The lovely lady that did my eyebrows was Tessa, she did an amazing job, she also did some of my makeup because I was interested in buying some makeup. She did my brows and face and I loved it so much, I'm going back to get my makeup done by her for my 21st birthday! Also Tessa was great because she explained everything she was going to and asked for my feedback! The wax was also super gentle and nice. Getting your brows done also comes with getting concealer done and for them to also fill in your brows if you'd like. I have been seen by many eyebrow ladies, but none compares to my experience at Benefit beauty bar with Marlin! I came in upset because my eyebrows have just been threw the worst! I ended up getting Marlin and I explained to her that my eyebrows need some TLC, she took time out to listen to my complaint, she reassured my that I was in good hands. She first showed me in the mirror the growth pattern of my eyebrows, and then explained to me how she was going to cut and wax it. At the end of me getting my eyebrows waxed I looked in the mirror and was so amazed my eyebrows haven't looked this good in a long time thank you MarLin! I noticed when I got home she cut me multiple times with the tweezers. I called the very next day and left a message for the manager. No call back that day or the next. Called two days later told the lady I was waiting for a call back from a manager and she told me she would call me back after she got off her lunch. Waited and still nothing. I came to this particular brow bar because in the past ( 10 years ago) I loved the girls that once worked at the location. I was in desperate need of a brow appt. and of course I thought I would go online and check yelp to see how many stars / compliments that others had left on their page. I can see why lots of reviewers complaining about the customer service... that is completely true. Customer service is pretty horrifying especially the girl that was working NYE. Geeze! Yes, I was mad that the free brow promotion was deceiving . Spending $50 is a bit much to get a free brow done!! I've gotten my brow free done in LA at a prestigious spa(starts with and "A" and its location is right in the heart of LA) Hustling customers are only going to drive them away. The integrity of this brand has changed. That's not the benefit I remember. My review is truly based on customer service. On to a positive review regarding my eye brow service, I have to give Alex huge credit with my brows. With all the craziness at this location She did a phenomenal job. I'm all about my brows and the girls at Benefit have never disappointed me. I wasn't thrilled when their prices went up a couple bucks but that didn't stop me from coming in to see them for my brow service. It's $22 for a brow service and it's well worth it. I know that may be double what most other places charge but in all fairness you do walk away with two perfect eyebrows. I have many friends who go elsewhere and pay $10-$12 dollars but are never truly satisfied, that hasn't ever been the case with Benefit. Sometimes you gotta pay for quality results. The girls are also so sweet and professional. It's incredibly clean and they are great at touching you up before sending you on your way, I love walking away feeling like a million bucks. Two stars only, because they do a really fantastic job with the eyebrows. But that's pretty much it. I can't stand terrible customer service and that's what I got the two times I went. They weren't the least bit friendly at all. No smiles, no welcomes. And the staff stood around gossiping. A majority of the time. I felt really self conscious, and not quite comfortable at all. Supposedly had an appointment with Tiffany at 3:40, never had my brows done by her before. Checked in with the chick with red hair at 3:30 and was told Tiffany would be with me in a few minutes. Waited around till 3:55 only to be told that she had a walk in she was just finishing up with. When Adi and Marlin were brow groomers here, it was great! But the last time I visited, I got Tara. Several months later, my brows are still trying to recover! I didn't notice that she had overtrimmed my left brow with scissors until I got home, because she disguised it with combing and product before I left the chair! It is very choppy looking in the middle now! She also seemed irritated when I mentioned I had previously been a customer of Marlin. I will not be returning, ever. read more

There's no better place to get your eyebrows done. I literally drive 2 hours sometimes just to have Alex do them for me! I don't even live in Modesto anymore but make sure that when my eyebrows need to be done I make an appointment with Alex. If Alex is unavailable then it's Tessa. Okay, so I usually get Rebecca and she does a really good job. She's so friendly and makes you feel comfortable! She takes her time and tells you what she's doing. She also shows you the first brow before moving on to the next which I like. Today I went and she wasn't there so I had someone else. I'm not sure what her name was but she had black hair and tattoos. She wasn't mean, but she didn't make conversation at all. She was not professional. She didn't have me sign until I asked her about it. She didn't tell me what she was going to do, and she did it all SO quickly!! She had no interest in taking her time and doing a good job! Went in today and Tara did my brows. I was a little bit upset by the fact that she was too busy talking to her coworker and my best friend while trying to do my brows. She didn't once ask me how I wanted them shaped or anything about them. She didn't show me what she was going for when the first one was finished, which every other person has done when I've gone before. If she would have given me a chance I would have told her that all I wanted was for them to be cleaned up but kept the same shape I already had. This review is for walk ins. The girls do a fabulous job but their scheduling for walk ins is not what they say. So I called asked for wait time was told "oh not too long." I came in gave them my number, this is my fault for assuming ok you have my number you will call me then otherwise why take my number, and waited for 30 min. When asked again, I was again told "not too long." So I'm thinking fine I'll go to pick up an item in the store. 15 minutes later I come back and when I tell them to take my name off the wait list, the girl said I had been called. I told her I waited and then no one called me for the 15 minutes I was gone. She then said we dont always call you on the phone, so again why did you take my nbr down? This is just venting but time is valuable for some. And if I'm writing this long rant it means I'm more upset about the whole wasted time than being told they had no time for me upfront, that I would have appreciated. If you can't take a person then be honest don't have them waste their time so you can blow them off at the end and say the did their best. Give am estimate time give or take 10 minutes and if you take a person's number down then call them otherwise don't ask for it. read more

It's been a while since I had my brows waxed and decided to take a chance after I saw how pretty my daughter-in-law's brows looked after Alex worked her magic. I couldn't be more pleased with mine! Alex expertly shaped my thinning brows and then gave me great tips on how to use the 'gimme brow', 'instant brow pencil' and 'high brow' to make them look fuller. The reason I'm giving two stars isn't because Benefit Cosmetics is the least bit amazing, it's because the staff at this location are. I went in today to grab a bronzer one of my friends had suggested, when I gave the person helping me the name of the bronzer she grabbed it, did not double check if it was the one I was thinking of, and began to ask me for payment. I stopped her and checked out the bronzer, to find it was not the one I was hoping to buy, she then preceded to suggest another bronzer when I explained what I wanted. The encounter was fine, but she wasn't very friendly, which is off putting and why I rarely ever go to this location. As I was checking out, I overheard the conversation the other worker was having with her client about coming in in a few weeks to get a waxing done, where she told her to not wait too long because she'll "look like another one of those bearded dogs around town." The client didn't seem very amused by the comment, and neither was I. I really do love Benefit Cosmetics, I just think the staff at this location really needs work and isn't representing the company very well. read more

Worst service ever! There employees are consistently changing. You call for appointments snd they tell you drop ins only. Then you ask when the last drop in Is and they reply there all booked.
