Classic diner and food, very typical New Jersey diner! Can't go wrong with any breakfast item here. Sit at the bar for the full experience!

They say that NJ has the most diners in the country, so how do we know what's what??? I've driven past the Bendix Diner NUMEROUS times and it oddly draws you in. It's it just a truck stop joint, is it a regular Diner??? We gave it a shot. Inside is VERY dated...... Just my style. Nothing fancy, just come in and sit where you want. Service is an interesting event. The owner, I assume, is also the host, server and bus boy. But what.... He's completely blind and works more efficient than most people I've seen work. He has your order memorized, does the math in his head immediately and is prompt and helpful. The food was off the chart. I got the the meat Supreme omelet and it didn't disappoint. ABSOLUTELY packed and MASSIVE. It came with home fries. I also got a side of corned beef hash but the omelet itself would've been more than enough. We began our Diner tour strong coming out of the gate with Bendix. Stop in, say hi to a John and have a tasty and filling meal!

PROS: The staff here is nice while the prices and food selection was plentiful. Everything tasted good and the food came out fast CONS: The place is in dire need of renovation and the parking is scarce. they also just have a one person bathroom and its in a busy intersection so its tough to leave the lot OVERALL: Not crazy about coming back. There are other diners that are bigger and cleaner. I understand this is a historic diner, but im here for the experience, not the age

This gargantuan and gorgeous Veggie and Cheddar omelette with the best home fries ever! Chef Julio is amazing!

There are no accidents. Everything happens for a reason. Picture a diner just a minute from Teterboro airport and 8 miles from Manhattan. Huge delicious portions with the amazing, super sweet and creative chef Julio asking you what you would like as a side dish and how you want your sandwich or burger or omelette. He then suggests this absolutely stellar side of fried rice with mushrooms and broccoli in this special sauce. OMG( photo). Side more like an entree. It gets better. Your host/server/owner is John, who is blind. God blesses us with us gifts and experiences in many, many ways. John is one extraordinary blessing. He is the one of the sharpest, funniest, quickest, kindest, warmest and aware human beings and multitaskers I have met. He greets the customers, picks up menus, jokes with everyone ( wicked sense of humor btw), takes orders mentally, relays them verbatim to Julio, serves them, runs the cc machine, operates the cash register, takes a FedEx delivery from the awesome driver Fred; refills my strong and good mug of coffee, gets me a can of Pepsi and then requests his youngest son Michael to please get the dressing from the kitchen. By the way, this single parent John has raised three amazing boys. The eldest just graduated from Harvard and the youngest Michael starts college in a few weeks. When there is so much love and care, the entrees and the dishes that are prepared by Julio and Mom( John's lovely Greek mother) naturally taste amazing. The portions are huge. Bring your appetite. Meet the regulars who are a blast. Please peruse the latest menu via the two photos uploaded just now. Check out the lovely veggie omelette, the heavenly home fries, the tasty tuna sandwich, the impossible burger, the super fried rice, the Greek omelettes and the French toast n bacon. Pancakes, oh yeah! Hungry? Meet me at the diner at 5:45 am before my weekly flight. My treat. I am not joking. Message me via Yelp. To my dear Yelp friends from NJ and all their friends- Jennifer D, Bill M, Florence, Denise and Christian - love to meet all of you here. Let's do this per our schedules. You really have to experience this atmosphere of love, kindness and fun. What a beautiful reminder in our crazy world. The diner opens at 5:30 am and closes at 8:30 pm on weekdays, a bit earlier on the weekend.

So one would go to a diner thinking the roast beef would have mashed potatoes. Nah, we dont have them tonight is what I was told. Being from the south, I dont expect everyone to have the southern hospitality, but at least have some hospitality. When someone ask for ice, more than a few pieces is nice. I can say the hasbrowns were the only thing decent. Then I ask for my check, he just gives me a total of $19 for a gyro (ordered because no mashed potatoes), hasbrowns and a can Dr. Pepper, but you can look at the menu and see it's $11.95. So you are telling me tax and a Dr. Pepper is $7.05? I dont think so! I didn't argue with him. I gave him $20 cash and walked out because I knew that I would never be back and I hope that nobody else is either, if you're gonna rip somebody off like that. While the place is cute on the outside, I would NOT recommend it at all. The Gyro barely had any meat on it. In fact, it had more tomatoes than meat. Also, it had sour cream instead of the Taziki (however you spell it) sauce.

Very Nostalgic! Good omelette in an original diner. Good service. 70s ambiance. Greek Omelette.

The Bendix Diner being a NJ Diner.

Classic NJ Diner. Great food, reasonably priced. The grungy surroundings make it classics"eats".

This diner is as classic as they come! What a place. Some would see it as old but I think it has a great charm to it. The staff here are so nice and made the experience even better. My go to at diners is the breakfast and this one is no different. The french toast and omelettes are on point. Loved the greek omelette. Everything is fresh and cooked right in front of you. The sausage links were a nice addition to the meal too. They even have different flavored maple syrups if you are interested. Perfect with the french toast. 5 stars all the way!

Unfortunately, the experience didn't fully live up to the setting. I ordered the Caesar salad as my entrée and selected the "regular" size. What arrived felt closer to a side salad. When I asked if it was the correct portion, our waitress responded, "This isn't Cheesecake Factory or Grand Lux Café." The comment felt unnecessary and dismissive. We weren't expecting oversized portions -- just something appropriate for a main course. My boyfriend enjoyed his pappardelle, but overall the food felt average. Combined with the tone of service throughout the night, it made what should have been a special occasion feel underwhelming. On a positive note, Amelia at the bar was fantastic -- warm, welcoming, and clearly a standout. We'd consider returning to sit at the bar because of her. Beautiful space, but hoping for a stronger overall experience next time. Ambiance: 10 Food & Service: 6

Coincidentally we met the new owner of the IVY Inn on our way out the door and he was very nice and lovely, so I would love to see him get this right. The atmosphere & ambiance is absolutely amazingly stunning in this place. It feels like you're in a 200-year-old Boston or German or European countryside restaurant. It has so much historical value. And, it's very romantic & cozy inside with 2 fireplaces & a wooden bar with a little sofa "nook" on the side. The service was so warm and kind, and they were on top of everything, I loved the servers, as well. So really the only thing that needs an upgrade is the food itself and the dishes that they're putting out there (and also the desserts). All of the food that we had (and we had 10 people at our table, so we tried probably 15 different things) kind of all seemed like it was made by a cook working in a bar. Like the quality felt pretty average all around. My daughter's filet mignon was cooked medium well & gray brown in the middle when she had asked for it to be medium RARE, but she did not send it back. I totally would have. There's nothing worse than an overcooked tough piece of steak in any form. And, overcooking a filet is sacrilegious. If I were the chef in this restaurant, I would not make it anymore done, then "medium" no matter how the customer asked for it to be prepared .....Lol. I won't go into detail about a lot of of the dishes, except to highlight the SPEDINI cheesy bread appetizer which was 1 of the best items we ordered - that was amazing, the fried calamari has an interesting homemade twist about it and it's not typical - so that was good, but let's talk about their desserts. We tried 3 different desserts and they were all pretty bad in different ways. The Zeppoli's on their menu which came with a lovely raspberry sauce and chocolate sauce, tasted like really dense, tough, wheat flour donuts. I don't know what they were thinking with saying that those were Zeppoli's. Everyone at the table couldn't stop talking about how bad they were.... The crème brûlée was nothing like crème brûlée. It actually tasted like flan. There was no crackle on the top or even that glossy hard shell that you're supposed to crack with a spoon. Go taste crème brûlée in any European country and you'll know this is not a crème brûlée. And there was no dessert on the menu that was just like a simple chocolate lava cake with a good vanilla ice cream. Why not include a crowd pleaser like chocolate SOMETHING?? Which is not hard to do. I could make a more delicious dessert at home. So if this place just hires a fairly good pastry chef right now, and a really good chef that makes some interesting updated artisanal dishes with fresh seasonal ingredients, this could be the fine dining, five star restaurant that I think it was always aiming to be. I'll be back either way and I would love to just have a cocktail at the bar with that appetizer !

When I told my mom where we were going her reaction- "omg that place is still around?!? It use to be excellent back in the day!" Well I am happy to report this place is just as good today as it was during my mother's heyday. I decided to get a few oysters and clams to start off with and everything was just so fresh. As an entree the Seafood in a spicy red sauce was easily one of the best I have had in a very long time. There was a generous amount of seafood within the dish, the sauce I swear I could just drink it out of a cup and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My husband got the bbq ribs which I didn't try but you could see how they just slid right off the bone and he couldn't stop talking about how good they were. We ended our meal with some strong espresso. I enjoyed how it is a very casual atmosphere with a nice bar area that had a few TVs to watch some sports games. No need to dress to impress. The service was a little bit on the slower side but the waitress was very nice. The man who brought out my oysters, I asked him which were the east coast and which where in the west coast oysters, along with asking him where in the west coast my oysters were from and he couldn't tell me. I just think a place should just know these things is they are selling them. Nonetheless we still really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to return.

The Jersey Shore restaurants will always have an advantage when it comes to seafood because of location. North Jersey offers a diverse, high-quality seafood scene, ranging from upscale Mediterranean-style fish markets to casual, beloved neighborhood spots. Situated less than 2.5 miles from MetLife Stadium, Biggie's has been a neighborhood institution located off of Route 17 South in Carlstadt and is best known for its clams-on-the-half-shell and wide selection of beers on tap. My partner, our friends, and I have been to this family-owned establishment numerous times and decided to have dinner last night. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this casual vibe, we were greeted by the host. There is a lively sports bar side full of TVs and a dining room side, where we got a booth immediately by the window. Their menu has a wide array of options, rivaled only by the countless photographs and mementos that fill nearly every inch of wall space. There are many sandwiches, a half-dozen salads, thin-crust pizzas, and a substantial range of pastas. For starters, we decided on two dozen East Coast oysters on a half shell and Steamed Mussels with white wine butter broth. A side of Italian bread was brought for dipping. As a main meal, we opted for the Turkey Chili, Baby Back Ribs, Fried Calamari, Caesar salad, and Fries. The food was excellent and delicious, using the freshest ingredients. The portions were healthy. The staff went out of their way to make one feel welcome, creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Our server was Hadiyah. The price was reasonable. The Garden State's seafood scene is a testament to the state's rich maritime heritage, offering something for every palate, whether one's a regular or a first-timer. This is why people keep coming back week after week.

Bavarian Pretzel: amazing. Very tasty. Came out nice and hot. That rarebit cheese sauce? Oh honey that can come home with me anytime. Absolutely delicious. And this is coming from someone who hates that fake cheese, cheese whiz type taste. Margherita Pizza: didn't come out hot which is probably why I wasn't a fan of it.
