First off I was drawn to the decor. Due to my love for design. Second I was starving from all the running around at the fitness convention. Wasn't the healthiest choice with all the carbs, but sometimes you wanna be bad. I choose a chicken sandwich & fries. It was a delicious meal & great service. Small portions, big prices. Ordered a $13 glass of wine and when it was delivered I wondered where the rest of it was. The waiter said that due to new numbers guy in management they have to do 5 ounce pours. I asked her if the new manager drank! I feel the size of the pour should be disclosed on the menu. Hot tea was 5.50 and I didn't get a refill. If you order a bowl of soup it's more like a cup portion in a bowl size. Very disappointing overall. Fantastic food. Honestly, hotel or not, they cook great meals here at a reasonable price considering the location etc. I particularly recommend the Frenched Pork Chop. If you eat lo-carb, this thing is great! HUGE bone-in pork chop with sweet potatoes and Brussels and a cranberry chutney. I seriously look forward to it every time I am here. I have had it at least 10 times. The flat breads used to be great, but they recently changed the bread and have gone down a notch. The wings are done very well, always like them. There are at least 12 beers on tap, with at least 5-6 being local (Two Brothers, Revolution, Lagunitas). Karen in the bar is a wonderful person. All the staff here are generally pleasant. read more

The Benchmark is located inside the Westin O'hare hotel. I got to try this restaurant a few times while on a conference trip. The service has been good each time. I recommend the breakfast buffet instead of ordering single items since you can have just about anything and includes a drink for $20. Dinner options are also good. The atmosphere is nice and casual. Miguel is the man and will take very good care of you. This place was an exquisite surprise! Very spacious, beautiful lighting and atmosphere, trendy/jazz music. The food is okay but way overpriced. Got the turkey blt. The French fries weren't very good. They were hard and overlooked. The BLT was more like a sandwich I would make at home, not like the double decker sandwiches most places serve. Definitely not worth the money at all. I wish I went to McDonalds instead and saved $20. At least they have better fries. read more

Unexpected gem. The reviews here were rough, but our experience differed greatly. From the host to the waiter to the busboy, we were treated right, We had a bacon burger, steak sandwich and a lamb special. All were tasty and a step above most hotel restaurants. The moment we walked into the resturaunt, Ray the professional football player greeted us. We were brought to a very pretty table in an exotic corner of the restaurant. When we received our food, I was amazed at the quality and tenderness of the pulled pork(bacon) and sausage roll(toast). The dessert was brilliant as well. My rich Guinness brownie topped with vanilla ice cream was beyond comprehension of amazing desserts. Expertly crafted and served. I was stuck having to eat by myself the other night and decided to give the Westin's hotel restaurant a try. I usually don't expect much from hotel restaurants, but I was very surprised by the menu offerings. I kept things simple with a salad and an appetizer, but it was perfect. I would've given them 4 stars for the food but their service deserves 2 stars. Stopped by here to grab a quick bite at that bewitching time 11 am when they're transitioning between breakfast and lunch. There were 4 or 5 staff members around, none of whom were tending to other customers, yet no one acknowledged me. I sat down in their very comfortable lounge area and waited. Waited so long, I finally got up and asked a waiter if they're serving lunch. Took another few minutes to get a menu from the hostess, and longer to order. Even the manager walked by and he seemed uninterested in taking my order. I had the watermelon burrata which came out in a timely manner and was delicious. It was the only reason I left a decent tip. With no more than four other patrons in the dining area at any given time, the service should've been on point. read more

At breakfast, get the buffet. Food will take forever. When you get your food, something will be missing, and they will argue with you saying that either it didn't come with it or you didn't order it. And apparently it takes 30 minutes to "make fresh" a juice. read more

This restaurant is actually so awesome. I would come out to the airport just to eat here!! Awesome decor and incredible food. Everything we had were the best dishes I've had in a while!!! Lobster rolls, salmon entree, tofu entree, scallops, Cesar salad.. all AMAZING!!!!! And had a very accommodating waiter, Sakai, that was super understanding about dietary restrictions. We started with the Pork Belly, which was cooked perfectly and had fantastic flavor. We then shared the Caesar salad and the beet & poached pear salad. Both were excellent and had great dressings... especially the beet & pear salad. It was so bright and flavorful. We then split the Duck confit and the short ribs. The duck was very flavorful and had an outstanding sauce on it. The short ribs were so tender and sat perfectly in a bed of fluffy grits and brussel sprouts. We finished our epic feast with dessert (why not go for broke?!) We had the Root beer float and the cheesecake. The RB float came with a molten brownie which was very decadent. The Cheesecake was made with Greek Yogurt and was so light that I almost forgot I had already consumed 1,000,000 calories. Truly worth every bite... and calorie! read more

We had a horrible day with two small children- delayed and missed flights due to ridiculous issues on AA. They put us up at the Westin so we ended up eating dinner here. Our food was delicious overall - not perfect because our waiter forgot a few things but the best part was when I had to drag my two kids under 5 up to bed. The chef Joseph gave us a bag he put together for our travels the following day.....milk- cookies and trail mix to get us through another journey. Stood at the desk for about 10 minutes before I figured out they weren't checking it for people. Came in and asked to be seated. Ordered the 2 eggs your way (comes with 2 eggs, potatoes and choice of meat) and told her I was a vegetarian and would like to substitute. She let me get fruit from the continental bfast and when my food arrived, it was literally just 2 scrambled eggs- no potatoes. I had to ask for the rest of the entree... she really thought I was going to pay $17 for 2 scrambled eggs and some fruit? Though she was apologetic when I came in from standing at the counter for 10 min, she never checked the desk to see that people were waiting for someone to seat them..! The service was not genuine. The food wasn't even worth the money. Potatoes were like soggy slices of wannabe potato chips. I was here last year and had my breakfast to go and it was a million times better. Ok, the bar is low for an airport hotel gastropub, but, well.......maybe I ordered the wrong thing. It didn't start off well--there was a hair in my drink (short, dark, curly and definitely not mine!). Probably the best move would have been to move on, there's a McDonalds nearby. Well, that's not really an option, is it? So, I get a new drink and press on. There's a long wait for the food. The peas are overcooked, and the tuna is flavorless. There's plenty of time to contemplate the quality of the food, because the service is really, really slow. Maybe they're understaffed?? I try to salvage the experience with something that really can't be screwed up--ice cream. Well, I hate to tell you this, but it actually is possible to mess up ice cream. The ice cream had a little bit of what was supposed to be caramel sauce, but it was instead something sweeter than anything previously known to humankind. Seriously, the ice cream was not edible. I met two colleagues for a working lunch at Benchmark today and while the food was very good, this one star rating is specifically for a very rude staff by the name of Maria. Two of us arrived earlier and therefore as is customary we waited to order until the rest of our party arrived. Once he arrived we moved to a larger table so that we would have more space and not feel so cramped. I noticed the table was wet and asked Maria if the table could be wiped down since we wanted to sit there. Well she immediately gives me attitude and walks away. After we all sat down, I spotted Maria just standing around, thinking she was going to go get a towel to wipe down the table I again asked her if the table could be cleaned. She walks away again and this time actually brings a towel to wipe off the wet table. As she is doing this she starts telling me with an incredibly rude attitude that we need to order something because they don't allow people just to sit at the restaurant to talk and she walks away. Well at this point I didn't want to make a big deal of it since I was with my colleagues but I found her rude attitude unacceptable for someone who works in the service industry. Did she not see that we were waiting for a 3rd person to arrive before we could order lunch. Therefore I really did not appreciate her just going off and making assumptions when she really had no idea that we were not there to order lunch. It's the reason we decided to meet there in the first place so we can get something to eat while we talk. I found her extremely obnoxious and it's very obvious that someone like Maria doesn't possess the right skill set to deal with the public in a professional capacity. Perhaps she would be better off working in the kitchen instead of out front interacting with the public since she seems to be annoyed by customers. Now the food on the other hand was excellent. We each had a different salad, I highly recommend the Salmon, Strawberries, Mango and Kale salad with a strawberry vinaigrette which was recommended by our lovely waiter. A very nice gentleman with a mustache, I wish I would have gotten his name. Now he was extremely helpful and told us to take our time ordering since he saw we were deep in conversation which I really appreciated. My friends and I had a "guy trip" and made a stop at this Gastro Pub on a Sunday evening. We had just sat down at a table when the server stopped by and asked for our drink orders . The pub features a large selection of bottles and draft brews and we needed more time to select. Because we were not ready, the server acted very offended and deliberately avoided our table.
