In my complete lack of knowledge, I called the local Long and McQuade to ask for help in knowing what to do. They were so willing and gracious and were excited to help me on my ongoing quest to fix up all these instruments. Not only that, but one of there repair guys, (his name is Les, ask for him, he knows what he's doing) actually did some of the smaller repairs on some electrics I had, simply out of his own passion for his job (Thanks again man). I have continued to shop there because their is a real sense of community and comradery among them and they are always willing to help me out. Because of their help, I have fixed up these guitars and I am going in with a fresh batch soon to ask for more tips and tricks as well as buy any resources I may need. Dude actually destroys guitars by refretting. The edges of new frets on average stick out by…read more~0.3mm, which means you feel every fret on the side of neck. A luthier in Tom Lee recommended me this shop as they do not work stainless steel frets. I sent my 10-year main guitar to him, ended up with a refretted guitar with unfinished edges and some bonus scars (hard stabbed by his tools, basically means he actually cannot work with stainless steels unlike what he said) on the neck.... He filled the 2 major dents, which made it look worse. I would rather leave those dents alone. lol. Come on, if you are too old to keep your skills, you better retire.

Be careful when you bring them something in for repair. I once bought a rare new Rickenbacker…read moreDakota solidbody guitar from them and one pickup stopped working so I brought it in for repair. When I inquired about it they said they sent it back, never to be seen again. Rickenbacker replacement pickups can be ordered. Another time I bought a new Firebird and it had fret sprout and they said they would fix that. It seemed to take forever and when I finally got it there was a ding in the back that wasn't there before. I brought in a keyboard for repair and they lost the case for the soundboard that was installed in the keyboard. When you bring something in for repair, bring it in bare bones, no strap, strings accessories in the case or they might lose them.
