Benazuza is a 20+ course foodie experience that will approach everyday ingredients in a fun way. Benazuza is located in The Pyramid at the Grand Oasis, specifically inside of their casino area. If you are not staying at the hotel, be sure you tell the gate keeper that you are going to this restaurant when approaching the hotel. The workers will point you towards the restaurant. The hotel itself is beautiful, it feels like you are walking through an indoor plant nursery. The meal started off at the bar outside of the dining area, where reimagined cocktails are served before your meal. My party and I were served by Luis here who was the sweetest and thoughtful. Luis's cocktails set the expectations very high. Then you are moved to the dining area where you are offered a wine menu and the appetizers and entrees begin coming out. Each dish was explained and plated perfectly. They are small plates, not full plate coursed meals. I wish the cocktails were served at the end of the meal as the heavy sweetness factor did fill us up by the middle of the dinner, we were stuffed. If you are in cancun I believe that this is a necessary stop in your itinerary. For around 125USD per person you will have a classy dining experience. Email the restaurant beforehand to make a reservation, they're not the best with their communication but once you get a reservation, you have no worries. We had a cocktail bar with 2 bartenders serving us prior to our main course - it was fun trying the different types of cocktails (one even in a jelly-form!). We moved onto the dining room where we reserved the private room for our group. We had 6 servers in total!! Everyone was very attentive. The menu for the night was as follows: COCKTAIL BAR 1. Old fashioned cocktail 2. Pina colada - infused pineapple with rum 3. Shot: mascala (tequila) smoked mango strawberry - tastes like smoked bacon! APPETIZERS 4. My dream is one day Yelp will take over all international reviews so I never have to look at the tripadvisor interface again :) If you are in Cancun, you HAVE to come here. Less than $100 for 22 courses? What a STEAL. I will say the highlight of the meal was in the first few courses, where they had you sit at a bar and taste deconstructed cocktails. One of them was their take on a mimosa and had a pear taking a bubble bath with pop rocks- I think my taste buds reached a whole new level of bougie. Hello Benazuza, sorry to tell you that I am getting quite a nightmare to get w hold of your restaurant. It's been 3 days now and the phone operator been very unprofessional to let customer knows about making reservation which I was there and the environment was totally very friendly. First, they told me that they will transfer the call to the restaurant, second was to call between 3pm to 5pm & third is customer need to make reservation when checking in which I am now still in Beverly Hills and going there early February so I just want to make sure that we can get a reservation before I am leaving Los Angeles. This is a very unique experience when it comes to dining! Definitely upscale, so get fancy and be ready for a full belly and fun experience. Make it a nice romantic one too. After we were greeted, we waited very shortly and were guided to the bar where our courses started. The beginning courses to a 20-course experience. I'm not kidding! Amazing! We started with a Cranberry foam with vodka which was like a vodka dessert! Then onto the whiskey sour, the foam tequila with a worm on the side, and something that was made with dry ice and it was amazing! So the worm was crunchy and on the side of the tequila. Very cool! This was all served one course at a time at the bar as they got our table ready. As we sat at our table, they started us with Moët Champagne. Then the courses kept coming. They come in very small portions that are bite size. I'm so glad they did. I was so full at the end! Having a gluten allergy, there was still a lot that I could eat! This 5-star review is really for a 5-star restaurant. Benazuza has been voted the 5th best restaurant in the world, and deservedly so. It has also been voted the best restaurant in Cancun, and I agree. The Executive Chef, Rafael Zafra, worked with Ferran Adrià (from El Bulli) and is a star in his own right: he had 2 Michelin stars. The cuisine is best described as molecular gastronomy with Mexican flavors. Dinner consisted of a 20-course tasting menu with an optional wine pairing. Each course, from the incredibly creative drinks to the desserts was amazing. The description from the menu does not give you a hint at what you will receive on your plate. Photos of the food alone do not give you an idea of what each bite-sized morsel will taste like. This dinner is truly an experience. We dined here last year and could not wait to come back to Cancun as an excuse to have this experience again. The service and décor are impeccable as well. Benazuza is located on the Grand Oasis Cancun property and can be found inside the Reds Casino. I was staying at the Pyramid of Grand Oasis and found most of the food at the resort to be mediocre up until I had the opportunity to dine at Benazuza. The staff is very kind and very professional. Almost all responses to inquiries included some form of "my pleasure", all utensils and plates were changed immediately after each course, and every plate was provided with a good but brief description. During our dinner my friends and I learned that the Michelin rating system had not made its way to Mexico yet (projected to arrive in 2018), but that Benazuza was one of the restaurants which would be considered for the prestigious stars. The head chef started our experience with some appetizer cocktails which included a mojito in a shape of a rose, a frozen cream gin, and a black forest margarita on top of a lime. We were then given a variety of appetizers and tapas which included: popcorn, benazuza chips, coxitos, caramelized pork skin, zucchini pillow, sea pepper taquito, kastakan gordita. Our main course was a short rib, then followed by a pre dessert, a dessert, and a morphing at the end. The entire experience was amazing, though I didn't feel that my appetite was completely satisfied. Most of the plates were in a tapas style so more bite sized and meant for presentation than quantity. The restaurant does require you to be dressed up: Button up shirt, slacks, and shoes for men. Women can wear anything that is either semi professional or semi formal. I was about 3 days into my stay before I learned of Benazuza... I wish I had known earlier so that I could have attempted to dine there everyday. If you're going to stay at the Grand Oasis resort in Cancun, I highly recommend that you give Benazuza a try. read more

We stayed in a Sian Ka'an suite at Grand Oasis Sens for our fifth anniversary. A meal at Benazuza was included with our stay. My husband and I eat out...a lot. Maybe even too much. We both agreed that this was the best meal we have ever eaten. The service was impeccable. The dishes were innovative, beautiful, and above all delicious. Every bite deserved a picture and a discussion. It was also a romantic setting. However you need to eat dinner before or eat something after. My husband and I had sandwiches after because we were not filled up at all. You think 20 courses wow, no you will be hungry. The experience is something unique and different. Compared to other restaurants like Alinea, Next, or Grace in Chicago, you will pay $250 US -$350 per person for the same concept. The service was excellent and the food was good. We were served 13 courses and by the time we were done to the last plate which was dessert , I was so full that I only took a few bites here and there. Presentation of food was superb. Their pre- dessert was lemon & mint nitro foam which was interesting course. The only thing I don't like about this resto, is the restroom is outside by the lobby. And don't ask just any other hotel crew because this person I asked was leading me outside by the pool and I was like no way I was going out there by myself so I went back quickly into the hotel lobby and asked a different hotel worker which led me to the restroom close by. Wow... just wow.... What an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! You first attend the bar that serves you 5 creative cocktails, one including liquid nitrogen (that's always a good time). Then you are brought to your table that is nicely lit in the center, highlighting all the 20 courses you are about to devour. You are served more creative appetizers including a martini and popcorn that LOOK like a martini and popcorn but aren't..(!!!!), a tostada that has grasshopper in it (but don't worry you don't see/taste it), truffle empanadas and moooreee !! Then you get a couple tapas (which were aight) but to the main courses..... o..m...g..... suhhh goooddd..!! We had Sea Bass that was served under a smokey dome, where the waiter would then remove the dome and reveal the delicious fish. My boyfriend doesn't even like cooked fish, but this was his favorite course! Then we got Pork Belly that was slow cooked for 36 hours... the flavors were nicely combined and delicious. And theeennn my favorite.. the Pink Mole Duck. One of the BEST duck I've ever had... cooked so perfectly and the flavor... MAGNIFICO! Then ended with 3 sets of desserts that satisfies your sweet tooth. One included a passion fruit with pate, that was served in a duck shape in a glass bathtub. Just so cute!! And with the bill, they give a rose to the lady, which is such a sweet touch! :') Without drinks, everything costs about $100 USD/per. And it's SOOOO WORTH IT!! This kind of experience in America is easily ~$300-$500. The service was divine. Almost like they're waiting for us to call them lol They come towards you as soon as you look at them lol (I'm exaggerating in a non- annoying way lol) but they really cater to you and it feels like you're a king/Queen. The restaurant is downstairs of Grand Oasis Sens hotel (don't get confused with Grand Oasis Pyramids) and it is quiet and pristine. I can't say enough good things about Benazuza. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Cancun. I've been going to this restaurant for 2 years now and I love it. The chef never fails to impress me with special new dishes and amazing quality and flavor. The food comes in beautifully presented small portions yet you will end up full after the meal guaranteed! The staff is amazing and very attentive. The price is around 1300 pesos which I don't think is insanely expensive for what you get. Ok first of all, I do not know why there are only 21 reviews here. Where are my fellow Yelpers????? Please do review! Anyway, this is approximately a 20 course dinner. It started with cocktail drinks. The only thing I wasn't able to take a picture of was the Rose, which was the very first cocktail drink served. Ah, I would've loved to show it to you but I just dove right in (as usual). So sorry. Anyway, the appetizers, entrees and desserts are all shown on the photos. Remember, each and every portion is a traditional fine dining portion, which of course is like as big or smaller than your fist....but boy! At the end of the meal I felt like I was 3 months pregnant! I don't know if it was the food or the combination or the wine pairing (which by the way is not included). But it was just filling! The chef probably put something in our food. LoL.....Just kidding. I have to be honest though, I didn't fancy some of the food, like the rib eye. To me, it lacked flavor and the meat was kind of tough. It's not like the melt in your mouth kind. The entire staff, including the manager, were all professional, friendly, informative, polite, welcoming, courteous and considerate. This was the best meal of my life. Oh my god. Mind explosions every 10 minutes. My time here was equal parts recognizably delicious and bewilderingly innovative. About $75 USD per person, and that's expensive, but I think worth it for the heights I reached during the meal. It's an experience in and of itself. Come dressed a lil nicer. We had 20+ courses tasting menu included in our package when stay at Pyramid session. The whole experience was out of this world world class luxury. 5 starts all the way. Thus is one of the top 10 restaurants in the world you must try before you die. At the end of the meal every woman gets a rose. What I learned from this restaurant is: customer experience can be enhanced by so many levels, the kindness, the detail oriented, the way that make clients feel so special, the pleasure, hardworking people.. in New York, LA, Miami, Toronto, Chicago you have to pay at least $250-300 USD wine paring and 10 courses tasting per person to have this kind of experience. I'd say we are so fortunate to be here, now and hopefully in the near future. I don't want to spoil your future experience by revealing too much details about the menu and cocktails they provided. You have to come try it, to believe it. One thing I do tell is: I was surprised by one of the cocktail in a rose. We paid for a bottle of red wine from Argentina as extra to our meal, it's called Villa Paola, it's so smooth and I love it. Price it's so reasonable like $14-16USD. You'll feel appreciated and value throughout the meal. Because all you hear from your server are "My pleasures ". This was a fun and unique experience, but not life-changing as the 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor would suggest - at least not for me! Different strokes for different folks, but I personally felt the focus was a little heavy on the show/theatrics. Yes, there were some extremely delicious individual bites, but only a handful. Let's start from the beginning. We asked our hotel (the Casamagna Marriott) to make a reservation weeks in advance. We read on TripAdvisor that the restaurant has had issues with losing reservations, so we brought our confirmation email just in case. Lucky we did, because when we arrived we were told that we did not have a reservation. I pulled up my email and showed the hostess, and she went to find her manager who eventually accommodated us. Fortunately they handled this very politely (unlike some other reviews suggested) and we moved on. No harm, no foul. The experience starts out at the bar, where the bartender makes about 5 or 6 different "cocktails" for us to try. These were creative and fun - for example, we were first presented with a rose and asked to eat the petals and guess what they were. I won't spoil the secret, but that's a sneak peak into the kind of drinks/dishes you can expect at Benzazuza. Very whimsical. There were very few tables in the restaurant itself, most likely because the level of service was so above and beyond that their wait staff would not be able to greet/converse with/serve any more tables. Huge shoutout for the professionalism and friendliness of all the waiters. Really top-notch, but to be honest it was a little much for me. I felt like I spent an equal amount of time with the waiters as I did with my dining partner! Not necessarily bad at all, just something to note. Now onto the food itself. I was full by the end, but not stuffed. I'm writing this review about two months late, but my boyfriend still reminisces about the lamb - the best he's every had! I'd say all in all there were probably about 20 individual dishes, give or take. A fun, engaging, interactive experience and something that would easily cost double, triple, or quadruple the amount in the U.S. If you're looking to try a molecular gastronomy dining experience, this is a good option for you. read more

I was actually happy with this 20 course experience. I ate food I normally wouldn't eat such as quail and duck. All the food, appetizers and drinks were well thought out and it tasted so fresh compared to the other restaurants at the hotel. There was a party in my mouth in each course. It was an amazing experience. Loved every moment of the dinner. If you dont drink alcohol or eat certain kind of meat just make an exception for the night (unless you do it for religious reasons). We weren't staying in the hotel but given the great reviews thought we would make the journey. I wouldn't really say it was worth it. It was Mexican themed the menu and in my opinion didn't really give that WOW factor. Only one proper fish and meat course the rest were a bit bland. Corn / cheese etc. I wouldn't go back again and it was our most expensive meal whilst in Cancun. If you are anywhere in Cancun you MUST try this. We went on our honeymoon and everything about it was over the top amazing. The service is impeccable. There are 20 courses, starting at the bar. I don't like seafood at all and they made all my courses exactly like his but catered to my requests using other foods. They change the menu every six months. Be advised, you have to make a reservation through email at least two days in advance and there is a light dress code, they even got us a complimentary cocktail at the bar upstairs while we waites.
