#12 breakfast: French toast, 2 eggs, sausage, bacon.

The Bemus Inn is one of our family's favorite restaurants around Chautauqua Lake, and today was my first time visiting this year. It was a calm Friday morning when we arrived around 10am, and we immediately seated ourselves at the empty bar. I ordered a hot chocolate, which now comes on a bigger mug, and a #12 breakfast that includes French toast, two eggs, sausage, and bacon. My sister got Irish eggs Benedict, and my brother got toast and eggs. Everything was great and our waitress was attentive without being annoying, some places don't know the balance but I've never had a problem here. The restaurant was getting busy as we left so it was just the right time to eat breakfast. We also enjoyed seeing the restaurants exterior and interior improvements made over the past year.

Our first stop in town. Had great sandwiches and beef on weck and great local beer. Waiter was friendly and the food came out fast! Great menu with some local specialties. Enjoyed it very much!

We ate at this restaurant twice on our vacation for lunch .Great happy friendly service. When it's real busy they give you a beeper to wait for a table outside.Prices & portions are great. We took home a piece of pie and a mini cinnamon roll the first time we dined for lunch. They have the staff to serve and cook and customers seem very happy. We had the lunch combos both times consisting of a full sandwich, potato chips, a pickle ,and soup or salad. The kitchen seems able to handle the amount of business. Busy both times we were there. Wish they were open more hours and days ,but totally understand staff need a break. This restaurant is a great Asset to the Bemus point area.

This is a casual homey place. It was very busy on a Wednesday at 11:30am. There seemed to be a lot of regulars -always a good sign. The waitress was friendly. We had the veggie omelette and a ham and cheese sandwich with a side salad. Prices, portions and taste- All were very good. The town is cute in a beautiful setting by Lake Chautauqua.

The gals there are BFF with my parents. Right off the bat I can tell u from memory the bemus burger is fantastic. I get bacon cheddar, that might be automatic. It's a good burger in a world where lousy buns ruin the burgers. Any CHQ weekend we go there for breakfast. All the breads & bakery are made in house! Eggs bacon home fries standard fare & good. Bagel sandwich. Omelettes. I've had all these over the years. Yesterday special was chipped beef on toast, see pic. I can't pass on good old S.O.S. The official meal of Ft. Leonard Wood basic training for my pop. Fun place. Good coffee. Crowded with regulars. Great gals family business! Everybody goes there so u should too! A bemus Point institution. 4 stars I have no idea how much it costs bc my dad always pays ha. Thanks bro!!

We were the only people in the restaurant on a weekday in the late afternoon, which was odd, but in this case it led to incredibly personalized and attentive service. The food was delicious -- nothing that blew us away with originality, but well executed tapas that are easy to recommend. The wine choices were pretty solid as well. Given the chance, I'd like to return for dinner when there's a live music with the piano that seems to be the focal point of the room! There doesn't appear to be a multitude of higher-end restaurants in the local area, but this definitely falls into that "nicer" category.

I've tried a few of the dishes over the past two years - and the sushi that they added to the menu this year definitely takes this menu up a notch. Previously, I would have given Splash a 3/4. The ambiance is beautiful in every way imaginable - the outdoor seating with lake views, the indoor seating - refined - yet comfortable. We sat at the bar on a Saturday night (without reservations) and ordered all the sushi offerings. The sushi arrived with edible flowers - in which I had to put one in my hair. The food was delicious, and sushi is hard to find around Chautauqua Lake. All of the staff were pleasant. This is now one of my favorite spots on Chautauqua.

Additionally, the beautiful, historic Atheneum porch provides lakeside ambience that is nothing short of perfect on a warm summer day. The food was ok. We had a charcuterie tray, bisque, and a salad, and while nothing was bad, it did seem to be somewhat bland. Wine choices were also adequate. The service left a lot to be desired in terms of speed and quality. Our server was polite, but they were slow to greet and offer drinks, and even slower to return to check-up on our needs. I got the distinct impression that the servers were college students there to earn money for the summer -- professionalism seemed lacking. Think of the Kellerman's Hotel waitstaff in the movie Dirty Dancing, and you'll understand. Still worth it for the view and the history!

On our most recent visit, my son enjoyed the panko-breaded fish fry, which is easily one of the best in Chautauqua County -- crispy, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The menu listed it as..."Tortilla Chips smothered with a five cheese sauce, shredded steak, green peppers, and onions." What we received was a small pile of tortilla chips, some globs of pale orange sauce, what appeared to be a small flat grilled burger broken into pieces, smothered in "raw" dice green peppers and onions. I should have taken a photo. It is Bemus Point so we don't mind paying a little extra but this was Hilarious! We were asked what we thought because this was a new menu item this year. I politely explained our disappointment to our wonderful waitress. We were asked again by the manager what we thought about this item. I explained again, anyone who has had Philly Nachos anywhere else would expect the peppers onions to be cooked/grilled and blended with the shredded steak and cheese. Google it. Clearly the chef had done little research. The manager tried to explain the shredded steak looked like a broken up burger because they cook didn't thaw it out enough before grilling. They took it off our bill, even though I insisted they shouldn't. I told them we planned to suffer through it because we were hungry, and were not going to order another surprise. On the plus side, the ambience was great out on the deck by the lake. The beers were refreshingly cold. Too bad our food was weird. We tipped our waitress very, very well. I hope they fix or 86 the Philly Nachos for everyone else's sake. We won't be eating here again. Drinks only.
