One of if not the most inept and crooked landscaping companies in existence. They do not do even basic competent work. The plants they plant are non native and horrendously ugly, and kurapia turf largely does not grow and in the very very tiny areas where it grows it attracts bees. They eagerly cut down any tree they can do charge the HOA a steep price filling their pockets. When several home owners have voiced concern they have been shut down and not listened to. The landscaping of our HOA community has continued to deteriorate over the last 3.5 years with Bemus. Lots of dirt. Lack of maintaining groundcover on our sloped areas. A $2500 project that took them over a year to get right, and is still stuggling. Plenty of irrigation issues that were unaddressed, or taken care of by Board members. Despite installing a Smart Irrigation controller, our water usage tripled. Bemus failed to apply for our rebate. Now, Bemus is proposing we trust them with a major project of "turf replacement", because we can get a rebate to offset most of the cost of the project. The best they can provide is some painted pics of what one section of eight might look like. Seriously? We can't trust them with one very small area (we've tried many), we can't trust them with applying for a rebate, we can't trust them with maintaining anything on the property, other than some sloppy mowing and trimming. Bemus also just charged our HOA $1,400 to detach our grass/turf areas, stating "this is a good time to do it", while also presenting a bid to remove the grass. Sketchy. HOAs - Don't fall for their proposals to improve anything. At best, they can do minimal landscape maintenance. read more

Slackers that left the slopes in our HOA untended despite repeated interactions. The "workers" were using the time they were supposed to be working to have lunch and lounge around in the shade. Oscar at Bemus called me today. The company who manages the common areas for the Lido HOA instructed Bemus to remove the landscape and not to clear the clogged drain line that runs through the common areas and to the street. The line needs to be cleared but Bemus said this work needs to be done by a plumber. Bemus is willing to replace the line which will solve the problem but the association, Professional Community Management, an Associa Company, needs to direct them to do so or let me know if I can hire someone to do the work. My review of Bemus is unfair and the fault of this matter lies with the community management company. I commend Bemus for reaching out to me and letting me know why they haven't cleared the drain line. read more

Bemus has stepped it up in the Allasio and Santalana communities of Talega in San Clemente. They listened to feedback on the maintenance, brought in an army and seriously improved the landscaping throughout. The team lead by Adam and Miles took what was undesirable and set it on a path for continual improvement. They communicate well, make great suggestions for improvements that are cost and environmental friendly and understand what homeowners are seeking to beautify the neighborhood while also increasing values. read more

Our HOA used Bemys for 16 years and it was not a good experience. The overall service was substandard. Bemus did terrible job trimming our trees over the years. We canceled the contracr last year and are very pleased with our new landscaping company. read more

Our neighborhood as never looked worse in the 25 years I have lived here. When bushes are trimmed the clippings are left behind. Plants dying, just like who cares, we get paid but don't want to do our job which we are paid to do. Not a cheap company, but the work is certainly substandard. Bemus landscaping must really brass balls to ask for an increase in fees when a four person crew cannot even take notice of tree bushes that have collapsed and broken sprinkler heads that seem to water the asphalt and sidewalks better than the actual old , ugly plants we have here? I've contacted Bemus numerous times now regarding their work. Not sure what it takes to get grass cut correctly? They do a very poor job, and often leave a mess. They don't trim hedges with any care and just do the basics. They don't use a grass chatcher, and it leaves all the clippings to rot. The lawn in front of my home is half dead with rust fungus. They don't pay attention to detail, and my neighborhood looks terrible. The board has put them on notice, but nothing changes. I'll push now to find a different company. read more

Bemus is not fit to be a landscaper. Our community grounds look horrible. My lawn is 1/2 dead and plants are overgrown in some areas or dying in others. They also clip the bushes and leave the branches or when they clip the lawn - the just blow it around - so it is blown in to my garage, to the front door, left in the driveway or blown in to the drains. I don't believe the own rakes. Also no one checks the sprinklers - there are always broken sprinklers. I have complained to HOA over and over about a patch of dead grass. They come out a replace and it dies again....no one deals with the problem. They send out crews who could care less. For the amount of $$ we pay for landscaping - we deserve a quality company. read more

The staff has been caught discarding their personal trash in the bushes along our property and continues to do so. Have reported the issues many times to both the property management company and Bemus direct. I live in Canyon View Estates and Bemus Landscape does an amazing job on all of our landscaping throughout our community. Their workers are clean cut and very respectful not to mention helpful. Spencer Bemus and Bemus Lanscape should never be called out for and landscape questions, problems, assessments, resolutions to tree damage from neighboring yards, or any other tree or root damage related issues. Spencer Bemus Vice President was hired to assess my property in Temecula By the request of our HOA Management group in September. First problem right out of the gate Spencer doesn't listen to the customers opinion, past pictures of serious damage to your yard/property or acknowledge any future problems that concern you. His un-enthusiasm and pure disregard for your situation is clear after talking with him for only a few minutes. He had no interest in seeing dozens of past pictures showing the destruction of my yard from 40 ft tall illegal Pacific Red Willows butted right up along the iron fence in the neighboring yard. An HOA board member assisted me in measuring a root from one tree that extended 45 feet from the tree trunk, under the fence, cutting through my sod yard and landscape sprinkler system, to my homes foundation. This was one of dozens I'd spent the first year and a half removing. The HOA per my request was to hire a neutral tree expert to asses this matter. Quote from his findings in the 4 sentence letterhead drafted. The trees are no problem and only hunt broken water lines for water. I see nothing that looks uncommon on this case. Whatever you do don't hire this wreck less company for any of your landscape needs you'll be more than disappointed and ripped off thoroughly! Again Bemus is violating The city of Irvine's leaf blower Noise Ordinance 6-8-205. " leafs lowers are NOT to be operated within 10 horizontal feet from any door, window, or mechanical intake or duct. The are running the lease blowers right up against the doors, and windows. 90 mph force against my doors and windows THAT are OPEN! Dust all over my kitchen, because they blew debris right in it! This is unacceptable, I have to leave the windows open for my dog, and I get a dust covered kitchen. This is why the city ordinance is in place! And no one will call you back over any issues, never received one call from them. This has been going on for 2 years. I'd fire them but the association hired them, and dealing with he association over this matter is useless. I'd give them zero stars if I could, but Yelp doesn't allow that. I find Bemus really unprofessional in their work and customer service. read more

I live in Finisterra on the Lake in Mission Viejo. Bemis was recently (April 2019) hired to do our community's landscaping. Every time they clip the bushes, they blow leaves and clippings on to our patio. The first time, I cleaned it up. The second time I caught them as they were doing and, and they cleaned it up. The third time I saw it after they had done it, and asked FOUR different gardeners (some may not have spoken English...making me question their immigration status), and ALL said they would clean it off. I checked later, and no one had blown the trash off the patio, and every one was gone. Now I have to clean it off AGAIN for our events this weekend. LOUSY CUSTMER SERVICE! read more

Bemus services the complex where I live, and I am writing this because they have repeatedly run afoul of city regulations regarding when they're allowed to use their leaf blowers. While I am specifically writing because of the improper usage of the leaf blowers, I'm also going to unload all that other stuff that I was previously willing to overlook because I am fed up by their seeming lack of cooperation and respect for basic rules and common decency. As someone who works a later shift, Irvine's time of 8am is still too early for my schedule, but it's the best I have (short of becoming dictator and changing city laws as I see fit) and I figure this was some compromise between the residents and businesses when it was first established. I have previously complained about them using leaf blowers before the city regulated, authorized time, yet they continue to disregard regulations and regularly operate their loud machinery well before the city's regulated time. Furthermore, they have done a poor job of maintaining many of the properties' landscaping. It is ridiculous to have to complain to have them do the job for which they have been paid. Some people have nice plants and shrubbery, but many others, including myself, are left with a dull patch of dirt with malnourished plants that do not grow well. On multiple occasions, I have seen them point their leaf blower directly at my vehicle. There are days when I find thick layers of dust on top that can't be explained by natural winds. Other days, I awaken to a leaf blower pointed directly at the bottom of my front door (imagine having a small motorcycle by your bedside as your alarm clock). This tells me several things from my point of view: Managers do not properly incorporate, if at all, quality control inspections to improve properties with poor vegetation in an effort to make improvements. The workers who see this lack of quality on a daily basis either do nothing to fix nor report these quality issues. If they are reported, this again falls on management. However, the general lack of respect towards residents and their property leads me to believe that they are probably underpaid and just doing a job, and while that's not an excuse, I get it. And I do understand that Bemus is trying to run a business here, but hey, this is the point where I ask, "What profit is there to collect if you drive away your customers?" I am fed up with losing sleep and prematurely waking up to the sounds of motocross racing on otherwise peaceful mornings. They have driven me to the point where depending on how things proceed going forward, I will either remove this review once they resolve these issues, or I will be escalating and recording when they run their blowers, measuring their sound level with a decibel meter, and recording any instance they run their blowers on residents' vehicles or front doors. In addition, I will be actively spreading the word around my complex and seek to have Bemus replaced as our landscapers. As of now, this is a horrible company and I would highly advise anyone reading this to look for landscaping services elsewhere. read more

Bemus has been taking care of the large multi family housing community I manage for about a year. The prior company that was maintaining our landscape was not doing a great job so when we brought Bemus in they had a their work cut out for them. They came in with a bang and cleaned up the mess that was left behind. Originally Jose was my account manager and he was wonderful, he moved to another region and Veronica took over as account manager, to say she is on top of it would be an understatement. Veronica is super responsive and is always walking the property to make sure it is in tip top shape and that the crew is not missing anything. One of my huge things is having a partnership with a company that is proactive rather than reactive and I am so happy that I have that partnership with Bemus!
