Jacobson Heating & Cooling

They typically have deals before winter starts for furnace checks/tuneups. Recently we noticed that our central air conditioning unit was making a bit of a weird noise and didn't seem like it was blowing at full capacity, so we gave them a call. I was expecting a long wait for an appointment, since the temperatures were supposed to be in the 90s that week. To my surprise, they said they could send someone out that morning within a few hours! The technician showed up well within the timeframe and did a quick assessment inside to figure out it wasn't the thermostat, then went outside and told us the issue - apparently earwigs can get into the AC unit and prevent the voltage to pass through to fully power the unit (or something... basically, earwigs ruin everything). He cleaned it off and made sure everything else was in working order, and that was it. I was expecting it to cost $200+ but it was only $80, phew! We will definitely continue to enlist the help of Jacobson's in the future (we're already talking about getting the furnace checked well before winter).

They were able to provide a great value for the service I needed. The follow up after went well, that technician was informative and good. The downside to service professor is they get in your door for a cheap price and try to find something wrong so they can quote you an enormous amount of money for a service a local professional can do. I know because the cheapest quote they offered was $4,000, to fix my problem but I found a local plumber who was licensed and insured who did it for a fraction of the cost. I would have used service professor if they were priced more fairly.

After he left, a leak sprung in our basement, which we figured out only happens when that same sink is used. We had to shop vac and clean the basement and I called the next morning. They said they would send someone out. I was super calm about it, totally trusting they would make it right. They sent the SAME tech out. So of course he starts saying its not his fault and there is nothing he can do. I call the business and they say they can have their manager call me in ONE TO TWO BUSINESS DAYS. I tell them that is unacceptable, I need a supervisor out here tomorrow. They say they can send someone out but it'll be an entirely new charge. Stay away from the business. They are cheats and only want to create new problems so they can upcharge you.

Grapids Home Services - This was the condenser unit after the free inspection. It failed the next day. There is no free inspection/lunch!

Plastic was to be layed in the basement where they were working and ended up tracking oil all over the floor. Some kind of grease or oil was spilled in the driveway. I contacted them two days after the work. It took a while for them to get back with me. The dispatch team was too busy or they would set up an appt, not show, and sometimes reschedule. I had to keep calling and making a longer story short they finally came out two months later. They cleaned the spots with cleaner that didn't work so I bought something to try myself. I worked at it and got about half the stain off but still bad. The stain was baked in by the sun by this time. It was on them to clean. I'm 73 female and this is ridiculous. Their customer service has a lot of room for improvement!

Well, apparently that isn't the case - they just cancelled an afternoon appointment on me first thing this morning. Keep in mind that I had this appointment scheduled 2 weeks in advance - nothing crazy, just a water heater inspection + flush, but an opportunity to build a relationship and offer recommendations which leads to additional services. They at least offered to reschedule for a later day in the week -BUT- with little regard for the fact that I took time away from my busy schedule to have a set appointment. Needless to say that I won't be using their services (nor recommending them). Don't get stuck like me, take a day off of work to accommodate, and have them cancel last minute!
