Called Service Professor today so they can snake my sewer drain. What I really need done is a descaling of the sewer pipe. I have that service scheduled with a provider who I have researched to be the best in the area. I had Service Professor scheduled to come and look at this same issue too. Now with full certainty of what the problem is decided to use another provider. These guys quoted me $20 to come snake my drain. I'm like, wtf are you talking about this is so cheap. I politely asked them to cancel my appointment for tomorrow and scheduled an immediate sewer unplug for $20. Landyn shows up. Nice enough guy. I explain to him that I intend to use someone else to do the descaling of my sewer drain and that I would pay more for the service he is providing today. Went to his truck and called someone. Came back to my house and said that he decided to decline the service. Dawg. I would have paid you $300 to do it. LOL why are you out here charging dirt prices for something? I was completely up front with my intentions. Told you the whole time what I wanted. I have someone coming to do the job for $300. Which is CHEAP. Idk what kind of business model you all have. Something like the show "Tires" on Netflix. Where the oil change is $5 and the only way you make money is by upselling. Meant what I said, the Landyn dude was a nice enough guy. Overall we had a pretty good experience, except for the duct cleaning. We had them install an AC and a new furnace. The crew was all nice and seemed like they knew what they were doing. It was hard to watch them sit on their phones while the electricians did their work, they could have been cleaning or something. DO NOT have them do a duct cleaning. Call Modernistic for that. We've used Modernistic twice and had MUCH better results. SP bent every single cold air return in our house and basically blew the dust into our house and left it for me to clean. They also left metal shavings all over our basement from cutting into the duct work. read more

This company has been my "go to" company for years. Every employee has been very nice, including the last one. I recently had them out to get a quote on my bathroom light/fan. to make a long story short the visit resulted in a $6000 quote because my electric was so bad they were going to have to replace my box, and pretty much everything. And I had 3 days to make my decison or the price would go up. Luckily I have a son-in-law who was a master electrican before he retired a few years ago. He came out and took a look at everything and said the fan did indeed need to be changed, but EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FINE! And everything else will be fine for another 20-30 years! I have since been told that Service Professor was bought out a few years ago and the big thing is now to make sure that the repair people find more things that need to be fixed. I have had 4 technicians to my new "old" home from service professor. I have plumbing, Hvac and electrical jobs all needing to be done in a hurry. These guys have all been awesome! Well spoken, easy to understand and prompt. They are careful to wear shoe covers in my home and polite. I joined the MVP service so I will have yearly service visits and tune-ups on all the work. New plumbing, new water heater, ac and heating... I'm financing part of the work and very happy with the pricing. Hired these guys to install a new hot water heater. While unpacking the new unit, one of the installers tried to toss aside packing material and threw it onto the hood of our car, leaving an impressively sized dent. The crew immediately took responsibility, called the office, and we were informed that someone named Dave would be in touch soon to set up repairs. After six weeks and multiple unreturned phone calls, I began posting our experience on various review sites, and finally got a return call. "Dave" apologized, offered a settlement figure, and I accepted it. Incredibly, they immediately pulled another disappearing act. We have not heard from them since, and no settlement has been received. How these people manage to remain in business with a complete absence of honesty or integrity is incomprehensible to me. We will be taking them to court, and here's a tip for the clowns running this company - you are not only going to pay for the damage you caused, but in light of the pitiful way you conduct business, you are going to pay much more. read more

Called on a Tuesday and made an appointment for SP to come out and fix a plumbing issue we had with our kitchen. They confirmed an appointment between 12-4pm. We stayed home from work to meet them as the issue needed tending to. At 315pm they called and cancelled. Then said we can come Thursday or Friday. When I asked for a time window, I was told you just need to be within 30 mins of the house all day. Bad scheduling. No service. When they say they'll fix it in a snap, what they mean is two or three days later. Pass. read more

They will do a very minimum job on a sewer cleaning just barely poking through a blockage. Then doing a fake camera and telling me that it needs a sewer pipe replacement! Had them come out to unclog the main drain that went to the septic, don't think the kid ever seen a septic tank before and said it was too full to access the drain through the septic and said after he flushed a bunch of toilet paper down the toilet probably to help clog it more he said he had to take the toilet off which was going to cost me more which I declined bc I knew it was a root on the main line and now I have a pile of dirt covering my septic lid bc the guy just throw it all on top so know I'll have to get some seed to grow some more grass, I would never recommend this company to anyone I know! read more

We called Service Professor for an urgent need with a dishwasher that flooded from kitchen into our finished lower level. They came out promptly, were friendly, and identified the problem. However, the technician turned the local water on to troubleshoot and never turned it back off, resulting in a new flood hitting other parts in our finished lower level. We called multiple times and cant get anyone to call us back. This happened five days ago! Our initial goal was a show of professional concern over their error and to remedy the situation and damage! Perhaps the reviews will start to make sense for you as an owner/operator. Instead of blaming the customer, take a look at how you do business. I was told by your management "I guess we can't make everyone like you happy." From this point when I was spoken to like this, I cancelled the MVP plan, and refused to call your company again, despite spending over $12,000 in total on projects. Had the guy out to fix a simple broken pipe in basement. What I got was a very long sales pitch on water heaters and water softeners and an insane price quote at the very end of his options to fix the pipe. Called a certified plumber recommended to me who fixed the issue in 15 minutes for a 1/3 of the price quoted! Feel free to refund the $79 service fee I paid for you 1 hour sales pitch. read more

The 'technician' who visited my home, after spending 30 minutes waiting on Bradford White tech support, wanted 25 to 30 minutes to compose an estimate with options. His estimate was so outrageous, I declined immediately. Wanted over $500 to replace a single electrode, over $1,100 to replace both (parts are less than $50 at Walmart). The water heater was only 3 years old and had an original cost of under $600! Quite simply seemed to want only the 'service fee', not the work. read more

I called on Friday to make an appointment for Tuesday to have a drain cleared. Come Tuesday I call and was told they're not gonna be able to come out. I got no notice. I was not told they were gonna have to reschedule and was basically told there's nothing we can do. Understand that it is Christmas Eve, but in talking to someone the day before I was told I was second on the list of runs. 'Service professor' was called to fix my 80 year old mothers AC. first thing service tech said was 'you need a new furnace and AC. it will be 13-14K' without even LOOKING into the ac. it was a $70 capacitor. Brother complained to Service Professor. They blamed my brother saying "service professor didnt break it"...... save your self a headache. run away from these snake oil salesmen. UPDATE. Service professor wants to talk to me about them trying to swindle an 80 year old woman. Like anything they tell me now can reverse them trying to charge 164 times what was needed and replacing a brand new furnace for no reason. Replacement equipment provided was poor quality and was not consistent with requested performance (replacement attic fan is undersized and much louder than original). This despite assurances (x3) that fan capacity was equal to or greater than fan being replaced. New fan would scarcely open old louvers. Would have paid more to get what I wanted. Overall service professor is an okay company. They responded to me in a timely manner and everyone I talked to from the person who scheduled a technician to the technician that came out were great. They were able to provide a great value for the service I needed. The follow up after went well, that technician was informative and good. The downside to service professor is they get in your door for a cheap price and try to find something wrong so they can quote you an enormous amount of money for a service a local professional can do. I know because the cheapest quote they offered was $4,000, to fix my problem but I found a local plumber who was licensed and insured who did it for a fraction of the cost. I would have used service professor if they were priced more fairly. read more

We spent over $12k on a new furnace and central air unit last winter. While the central air was being installed, there was a pop in the main breaker. Ever since then, we've had electrical issues; specifically, when we turn on our outdoor garage lighting, the garage breaker trips. We've called Service Professors several times to complain about this problem. They sent out an electrician twice, both times claiming that they weren't responsible for the problem.. and it would cost us over $2k for them to fix it. They were totally responsible, as this problem didn't exist prior to the furnace/central air install. read more

We have thought long and hard about leaving this review, but felt that we must after a recent solicitation call from Service Professor. Our sister had a new AC/Heater installed by Service Professor at her house in August 2023. It stopped working in just a couple of months (maybe even just weeks) and she had Service Professor out at least two times to fix it. One of the times that Service Professor responded, they added coolant to the NEW unit. Our sister was ill and it became too much of a burden for her to deal with a new non-working AC so she had neighbors bring over fans to help her cope. The heater did work (it runs on gas), but the AC did not. Our sister passed 3 months after Service Professor installed the unit. Service Professor did not have anything to do with her passing. I want to make that clear. We inherited the house and the AC did not work on any level: the thermostat was malfunctioning and the unit only blew ambient air. So in June (maybe early July) we called Service Professor again for repair to a new AC. Service Professor replaced the thermostat and the unit still did not work so we had Service Professor out again. This time Service Professor actually found the problem: A lazy weld during installation was causing the coolant to leak and it was hidden by insulation. During the last visit one of the technicians asked who the house belonged to. We answered that it was still in our sister's name. He replied something to the effect of "that's good because the warranty is non-transferrable". When we pointed out to him that is was obviously an installer error and the unit had never worked, he said "oh yeah yeah we will take care of this". We also asked at that point what the parameters of the warranty were and were told we would receive a copy, but we never have even after repeated requests via phone. Fast forward to October 24th and we get a voicemail from Service Professor telling us to claim our complimentary furnace tune-up and by the way Service Professor can also do plumbing "evaluations". But when we called back we were told nope, your MVP warranty is out of warranty and it will costs $49. Is $49 complimentary? You folks out there in Internet-Land can decide if this is the experience you would like. read more

After having a furnace installed last year it won't run. I scheduled an appointment for a Wednesday. at 4:30pm on Wednesday they call me to tell me that they won't be able to make it until Monday. on Thursday I called to tell them it was 49 degrees in my house and I have young children. they rescheduled for Friday, which I had plans on, without any kind of ETA. I don't understand how this company has been in business this long if this is how they practice. I will be canceling my MVP subscription following this appointment. read more

Had them fix the drain valve in the basement. Promised they would replace value and have someone repair the cement they would have to tear out. Replacement was done quickly and the work was good. Had been told by the estimator it would all be done in one day. After drain valve replaced the installer said it needed to be inspected before the rest of the work could be completed. Asked me to sign that he had completed the job. I was then charged the rest of the full charge. Also I had to keep calling the Service Professor to get the inspection scheduled. Finally got the inspection and then had to keep calling to get the rest of the work completed. The employee in charge finally called me and sounded put out that he had to schedule someone to finish the cement job. Sent a kid you did a decent job but not great. Didn't smooth out the cement and there are cracks between it and the rest of the floor. I just said fuck it and tried to smooth out but I'm no handyman, main reason I hired them. I actually Hedlund Plumbing as they came highly recommended by my neighbors. Turns out SP bought them out and the best business in Lansing is no more. read more

I called to request a plumber who knew rinnai tankless water heaters. Mine, I explained, has had error codes intermittently over the past year and I wanted to be shown how to clear the errors correctly. They arrived in a few days from my call, two journeyman and asked for my manual and found the number for support and told me to call them when I had errors. Paid the fee for the trip charge which was ridiculous because I did not receive any info that I requested. Thought about calling to let them know and thought if they didn't listen to me the first time on the phone what would another call matter? read more

sure they can get to you within a few hours, but they will also charge you more than twice of the other guys, and they will not give you a price until they are inside your home. my water heater died, so i took the day off work, they come out and looked at the water heater, and gave me a price. i was in sticker shock, as a single dad every dollar matered, but not to them. i bite the bullet and have the work done. it took a few hours start to finish, the guys had to leave and get a water heater and come back. they show me the work they did, it was acceptable, but nothing special that would have costed twice as much as everyone else. it couldn't have been an hour later and the water heater was leaking all over my basement. i call them up and they say they can come back the next day, so on top of paying twice as much, i have to take a second day off of work. it took them a couple more hours, but at least they didnt charge me more money to fix their mistake, but they also never said sorry, or mentioned any type of refund or anything. they must work on commision, i will never use them again and like a vegan, i'm telling everyone about my experience installing a water heater, avoid these guys read more

I requested a service visit because one of the two furnaces in our small commercial building was not reliably coming on in response to low temperature over a two day period. We had to manually turn it off and then on to get it to fire up. Unfortunately in the day prior to the technician's visit and the day of, it did not misbehave, and thus the problem was impossible to diagnose. However, Rich had a theory about the cause (temporary obstruction) in drain or air intake//output pipe, and he showed me how to find and interpret error messages prior to doing an off/on reset. read more

Timely response, wonderful personnel; however, they tried to sell me something I didn't need right away - using my panic mode from a blocked sewer. Just be careful! GET A SECOND OPINION! I spent $625 with another company to solve my problem instead of the $11,000 they quoted. My problem was not 'permanently' fixed but with monitoring I should be good for awhile. The other company said Service Professor is not highly thought of in the industry and that they were so highly commission-based and often tried to sell things that were not needed. read more

I hired Service Professor for one of their drain cleaning promotions ($99 special at that time). As soon as he arrived, the tech complained and whined about the stairway in which he had to bring the auger tool (as if I could install new stairs for him). He began his work roto-tooling the drain and as soon as the smallest amount of water began to flow he started his high pressure sales pitch on their monthly subscription service. When I declined, he threatened to stop the drain clearing service because he had "legally" fulfilled his obligation to "restore flow" to the drain. This was literally 5 minutes into the work. He did stick around for another 15 minutes working on the drain. When he wrapped up his work, he suggested the best way to solve this from happening would be to spend $11,000 on a drain liner service that they offered. I now understood why they were discounting the cleaning service He also places six 8.5" x 11" bright yellow stickers all over my basement with Service Professor's phone number and list of services on it. These are nearly impossible to remove. When you start to peel them off, the glossy side of the sticker seperates from the backing and leaves a white, paperlike residue on every surface he stuck them on. I don't recommend anyone use them for electrical, plumbing or HVAC work. They installed a bathroom fan in my house, and didn't do anything to code. They used an uninsulated duct to exhaust the fan through my attic and also left exposed wires in an open junction box in the attic. They are not qualified for the services they offer. The quality is very poor. read more

There service Technician came out to diagnose my malfunctioning furnace and said he would have to red tag my furnace because the heat exchanger was cracked, I could no longer use it. after the furnace was removed so they could install the new one I took it apart to check for cracks I found none. however, in the process I found a dead bird in the combustion air pipe that was causing the malfunction a simple fix remove bird, and it would have been fine. instead, it cost me $6500 for a furnace I really did not need. I Contacted the service manager who gave me nothing but grief. I will not do any new business with them. Do not Trust a technician get a second opinion before buying a new furnace. read more

We had a furnace and A/C installed. They won't stop bothering me until I give them a better review. I wouldn't recommend using their service. At this point it's just not worth all the hassle. I had to go through so many hoops to get my issue resolved I am regretting choosing them for the job, and it sucks because the technicians are good. We thought we would try Service Professor to replace a mixer valve on the shower. We had the valve, yet thought best to have a plumber install it. To remove the valve and install the new is a 30 minute job. We did not ask for a quote first, two technicians arrived, spent time going around the home to show my wife shut off valves, we knew about, and upselling more service. Once the tech worked on the replacement, with our supplied part, it was at most 40 minutes. For me to remove the old valve took 10 minutes so I could order the part. I am sorry I was not home, my wife just paid the invoice. Nice young men, at this price the they should be. Total charge $477.00 No trip charge included. So, lesson learned. read more

service professor is the Worst experience i have ever had with a company ! had a new furnace and a/c installed, install was horrible they were gonna leave me with out heat the day of install cause they couldn't get the furnace started that was finally resolved when they were told I wasn't gonna pay them. then they put a hole in my new slider screen they were supposed to take care of that it has now been 2 months and that's still not fixed. then they schedule a check up for the new install a service guy comes out that morning a/c working fine,that evening after I work all day come home house is 85 degrees.so i call service professor they tell me its gonna be 2 days before they can send anyone out then they cancelled that appointment because I used cuss words on the phone but not calling them names just cussing out of frustration but then finally get a service guy out here they find that 2 wires are broke on the new furnace so they fix that then they tell me my thermostat has gone bad because of the wires being broke in the furnace but they wont replace thermostat for free because they didn't install that even though there install is what broke our thermostat so we are out more money now. I've never written a review before but i felt I need to because I hope this will help so no one else gets ripped off. read more

I We had a drain pipe that was installed incorrectly when we moved into our home 6 years ago. The water was backed up in the kitchen and the shower stall. And the smell was not pleasant. Service Pro sent Natalie to address the problem. She seemed knowledgeable about what needs to be done to make it work properly. In the mean time, she snaked the drain. Thus company a plumbing tech there made a bad call on a diagnosis of my disposal when he visited my place Jan 28. He referred my to a electrician at the company cause he said my disposal would not go on cause of bad outlet under sink which the disposal was plugged into later I had my nephew electrician look at it he said outlet was good the disposal did not work cause the motor was burnt out or fried we both could smell the burnt odor. Why did this plumber tech figure thus out. Instead I pay 78 dollar fee for his visit and wrong prognosis makes me mad I va,ye there wrong advice sucks read more
