Went in today (Saturday) and it was busy! Not my first time here but it had been a while since I've had a delicious shaved ice from them. First of, I love this place. As busy as it was, the young girl in the cash register has an amazing attitude and treats every single customer with great enthusiasm and makes you feel very welcomed. I had the cherry cola #6 I believe and it was fantastic. Reminded me of the cherry cola you can get from "The Hat" or any old school burger joint. The shaved ice was shaved so fine every bite was undoubtedly flavorful. Meaning you don't end up with just ice. My 3 year daughter had the rainbow Ice with a cotton candy topper with sprinkles. We only went for the shaved ice this time (remember: this was the Friday-Saturday of July that was 110+...) and the sweetness and the chill matched our need for getting cooled off. Discovered this place by accident while picking up takeout tacos next door. Place was very clean and following covid restrictions with distance between customers and masks. Shaved ice was delicious and had many options, also being able to add condense milk or ice cream was a new one for me. Problem was when I called they told me there only taking to-go orders until 8:00 and when I arrived I saw multiple families sitting down and even more walking in and sitting down. Let's say this place has the best customer service ever, and they have no problem going through the menu for all of us first timers who are so overwhelmed by the many options you have. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that they are in Upland and not closer to my house! I love the shaved ice but the best part is the combo of shaved ice with Thrifty ice cream, so good! The portion sizes are huge and the price is very reasonable. They have any flavor syrup you can think of, including some like jalapeño that I'm not sure I'm bold enough to try! The only quirky thing is that they are closed any time it rains; It doesn't make me personally not want to get shaved ice just because it's raining! :-) I also wish they were open later so that it could be an after dinner treat, but it's a mom and pop shop in an area that's not prone to foot traffic so I get closing early. read more

The flavor choices of ice cream are pretty cool and unique, as I've never seen another place with Animal Cookie flavored ice cream. But I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have lychee flavored shaved ice syrup. The workers are super friendly and the shop is decorated really cute, with beachy decorations and a "space-y" feel - hence, the "Below Zero" name. This place has been such a gem ever since I found it! My daughter and I go at least once a week usually on the weekends cuz we crave it constantly! Their shaved ice with vanilla ice cream combination is genius. I tried it one time in Arizona and had been looking for a place here in Cali and luckily found this one and it did not disappoint. Also the staff is super nice and professional! I see a woman there every time I go, & if I had to guess I would say she's either a manager or the owner and she is such a sweetheart along with all the other employees. I would've posted a pic but i wasn't able to go today because they closed early for Labor Day but i was pushed to make this review because of the polite and friendly demeanor the woman had who answered the phone (sounded like the lady I said earlier who I think is the owner) and was willing to stay open if I was close by but I live a little far. 10/10 recommends you all to try this place, highly doubt you'll be disappointed. Even the shaved ice is more fluffy and not rough like most raspado/shaved ice places are. I'll also add that the first time I went there, there was a weird taste like if I they used sink water to make the shaved ice, so I made the suggestion that maybe their water filter needed to be changed or something needed to be cleaned and I assume they took it into consideration and I gave them another chance and it's tasted great ever since! read more

There was another lady manning the shaved ice. I think it would've serve them better to have another employee on hand. I usually order the Large Combo, which comes with three shaved iced flavors, if you so desire, and any flavor of ice cream. They have thrifty ice cream here, which includes the classic colorful cotton candy flavor! I recommend a large combo with half tiger's blood, half cotton candy ice, with vanilla ice cream. The creaminess of the ice cream and vibrant flavor of the shaved ice blend together very nicely.
