The waiter was very patient with us, and always filled our waters. Of course I had to choose the dish with most variety - the farmer's plate and a latte to wake me up. Brought my daughter here for breakfast as I've had my eyes on this place and wanted to try them out for some time. Parking can be a bit tricky if you have patience you will get something. Inside there are not many tables maybe 5 total it's a small place but they are kicking out some good stuff. Service was slow and needs adjusting my review is mainly on the food, although I wasn't thrilled about the service I would return. For drinks I got the wild berry lemonade which has muddled fruit, lemon slices and is refreshing. My daughter got the Decadent hot chocolate which needed sugar and it was much better. I couldn't help but to order the Avocado Toast which is not your typical avocado toast at all. This one has layers of beet puree, scrambled egg, sliced avocado the salmon and fig balsamic drizzle. You do have an option of choosing salmon or prosciutto for topping & I chose the salmon. It was really good and unique my daughter and I really enjoyed it. Next I ordered the Blue belly pancakes for myself which I couldn't resist. They were soft, sweet and topped with a blueberry compote it's a really good choice. The syrup was also good did not taste like regular syrup. For my daughter I got the Nutella Stack which was topped with strawberries, bananas and mascarpone cream with a Nutella drizzle. The mascarpone cream was light, really good. My daughter enjoyed this dish. I couldn't help but to also get the home fries they were cut into squares and fried well. I can't rave enough about Belly Cake. It has been my go-to brunch place for a quick bite and I actually appreciate its small and quaint space since I usually come here by myself whenever I do a workout nearby. I wouldn't say that the service is warm and friendly but it is exactly what I expect for a no-frills place where everyone is usually quicky going in and out. Not the type of place for a group setting (and please don't be those kinds of people since seating is limited). Prices are fair, but some menu items do tend to cost a little more if you opt for something a step above a regular item. So far, I've had the banana brulee pancakes and the pumpkin spice pancakes. Both really good--not overwhelmingly puffy stacks like many places emphasize, but definitely filling enough. Haven't had the chance to try the matcha brulee pancakes yet but that will be on my next visit. This place gets crowded very quickly, so make sure you don't come with a large group of people or during peak hours, otherwise, you risk waiting ~30 minutes or get unpleasantly placed in the back--right next to the bathroom. Made a reservation for 11:30, but we showed up about 15 minutes early, and our table was ready, so we were seated immediately. Love that we didn't have to wait. It was busy, and everyone was running around helping all the tables. Joe seated us, and he was really nice. One of the staff took our order, and she was so busy answering peoples questions while she was taking care of us at the same time. We waited as everything was made to order and worth the wait. We all tried all the different stacks, and we got 4 different ones. Everyone was delicious. I loved the tiramisu the best. My daughter loved the banana burlee, which were so yummy, my son got the Nutella stack, and they were very good too. Mom got the special of the day, mango stack those were excellent. I discovered this place only in December, not expecting it at all to be what it is. We walked into a small cozy place decorated with Christmas decor. The menu was clear and even more exciting with a holiday special menu on the table. The staff welcomed us as we sat down. The choices were impeccable - several pancake options that sounded delectable, sandwiches, and all types of caffeinated drinks, juices, and smoothies. We ordered a banana brulee pancake, 2 egg sandwiches (which I can't remember the name of but it's the first one on the list!), a hojicha latte and a mean green juice. Oh my goodness - the banana pancakes were to die for!! I technically ordered it for my daughter, but being the wonderful person I am, she couldn't finish it so I helped her! It was incredibly fluffy and light in sweetness. Despite there being a layer of custard topped with toasted coconut, it did not feel heavy nor sweet. I could eat all of it alone whereas I could never do so at an American pancake place! You can dip it in their homemade syrup but I felt the pancakes were so delicious that I didn't need to. The sandwiches were hot, delicious and generously full of ingredients. The hojicha latte was strong in hojicha and left a good bitter taste at the end but it showed that they were using good stuff and giving a generous amount. The mean green smoothie was truly mean - I loved the ginger kick that it gave. We felt so healthy after drinking it! Belly Cake is a cute mom and pop cafe on Bell blvd. It's fairly small inside but still has a good amount of seats. I came on a Saturday morning and there were lots of families enjoying breakfast here as well. It's definitely a wholesome place with a simple menu of breakfast foods, most noticeably the pancakes but there are also several savory items as well. I got the choco coco belly stacks, which were chocolate pancakes. It was a stack of 3 fluffy pancakes that had a good chocolate flavor, but not too rich or overwhelming. The menu says it's filled with chocolate chips but there were only a few chocolate chips on top. It was also supposed to be "dipped in chocolate ganache sauce" but there was just a thicker layer of chocolate sauce on the top layer and the other 2 were plain chocolate pancakes. It did come with chocolate syrup on the side but that was also pretty light. I think these chocolate pancakes would be good for someone who likes chocolate but doesn't want something very heavy in the morning. I personally love chocolate foods, so for me, it could have a stronger chocolate flavor. There's also a lot of other unique pancake flavors like tiramisu, matcha brulee, banana brulee and more for all your different taste buds. Their pancakes definitely lived up to it's hype! We got the original stacks and it was fluffy, airy, and not overly sweet. This was the star of the meal. My Farmer's plate came with eggs, potatoes, sausage (originally smoked ham), toast and a side salad. The salad was overly drenched but everything else was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Seated right away with a pleasant smile. There was 3 of us and we ordered strawberry short stack, truffle egg toast, side of salmon, Philly cheesesteak hero with fries, tropical smoothie, berry lemonade and an iced earl grey tea, came out to be about $80 (not including tip). The food was ordered and came out pretty quickly. Not a crumb left over. Everything was fantastically delicious... the pancakes are so fluffy and not cloyingly sweet, just the right amount of tartness balanced well with the light and airy whipped cream. The bread was crispy with the right amount of chewiness and the fries were delicately fried seemingly without oil as they do not leave that greasy after taste. Totally impressed with Belly Cake. It is a very small cafe on Bell Blvd that can easily be missed. I had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs, topped with lox. It was delicious. The only downside is that everything is served in disposable (including knives and forks) and it was quite hard cutting my sourdough toast with a plastic knife. My kids and I met my best friend here to have a late lunch around 2:30pm on a Thursday. It was rainy and not a lot of people were out so it wasn't a surprise that the place was empty. There seemed to be only one worker at the front, he was very nice and brought high chair for my little one and once we got settled he took our drink order, we decided to only have water. He gave us a few minutes before he came for our main order. We ordered the s'mores, tiramisu, choco coco(not pictured & the original stack(not pictured). The s'mores & choco coco are, as you could guess, super sweet, so of course my kids loved them. The chocolate flavor is rich and delicious. The tiramisu was absolutely amazing. Tiramisu is my all time favorite Italian dessert and these pancakes did not disappoint. I tasted a bite of the original stack from my bestie and they were delicious as well. If you are a purist when it comes to pancakes, the original stack is for you. All in all, very yummy and definitely hits the spot when you're craving pancakes. Decided to come back to try out other items on the menu. The food again is delicious and spectacular. During a busy time the waitress still tended to us while juggling to make the drinks. This time I ordered the BEC brioche, the egg is so soft, smooth and silky. It is not dry and overcooked like all other places that rushed to make eggs. When the plate came to the table, the sandwich is still steaming hot which is what I like about this place. Cooked to order and they put their time to making it good and delicious. The caramelized onions topped the sandwich off with the additional kick of flavor! Also ordered the banana brulee. The pancakes never fail - its still fluffy and soft. One thing I suggest for the establishment is to have better ventilation. The smoke from cooking fumes up to the seating area. The constant smell of oil is not always pleasing. My husband and I had a great breakfast date at Belly Cake this morning! We were in the area doing some thrift shopping and drove in. Parking wasn't much of an issue at 9AM on a Friday, there were spots right out front as well as ample meter parking down the side streets. We were seated right away and our order was taken very quickly. Our drinks came quickly - a super delicious PBJ smoothie and vanilla iced coffee. A great start to our meal! So yeah Yelp shows me these pancakes and like two days later I'm up at the crack of dawn taking my teen to swim and boom I end up here. My wife and I've been coming here very recently - I've ordered a different dish each and every time and all of their dishes are just on point - absolutely delicious.
