I had my color done for $35.00 with 50% off for August promotion so it was $17.50 for color( my hair is really long). Also, she trim my hair for $ 13.00. Total of $30.50 for my hair color and hair cut. It wasn't bad at all. I gave $15.00 tip for her. The front desk told me an addition $15.00 for glossing my hair? Hmm...anyway the total was $ 40.50. I am not going to take them up on their offer for a complimentary service (that's not why I write reviews, and they are far away from me now that my vacation is over), but I appreciate the prompt response and care. I came across this young gentleman hair stylist Justin Santos, it felt like an ordinary hair cut at that moment, but it wasn't !!!! It was Way beyond my expectations! I had a great experience receiving services here. The massage was wonderful. My student MT concentrated the majority of my massage on my neck and upper back like I asked and did an awesome stretch of my neck. It was still a full body massage, but I'm glad she concentrated on the points that needed the most attention. She checked in with the pressure level and provided a fantastic massage. My hair was next and I was getting a cut and highlights. The process took quite awhile because my hair was being stubborn and the color wasn't lifting, but the results were incredible. It's actually interesting to hear the students being instructed. My stylist did a good gauge of the hair color on her own and it ended up blending in really well with my natural color. I only had a little bit trimmed off to clean up my hair and the results were fantastic. As a result of my experience and the inexpensive prices, I tipped based on what a typical service would cost in a salon without the student teaching. Looking forward to trying other services. Tips: -Plan your day early if you are receiving multiple services. The services begin on time, but factor in extra time during the learning process. -Be specific with what services you want when making the appointment. I had different experiences with the people I spoke with. One was friendly, but didn't seem to understand what services I wanted. I have been here for facials and color service (Noweli and Ryan). My hair requires more frequent visits compared to most. I have had a great outcome with all the services and the price is right. I noted a special brochure for the month and referred a female friend who then booked a highlight service at the El Cajon location. I like the feeling of contributing to the the student's education . The room where they do the facials & massages is a large room with numerous beds separated by curtains. It is private & quiet but you can hear other clients whispering. Then she forgot about me and after 30 minutes they finally found her. She pretty much washed my face didn't tell me what she was applying nor did she use the ultraviolet light to look at my skin. My 3-year-old daughter has curly hair and needed a haircut (her first) to help with some of the tangles forming at the ends. She refused to go to to any haircut business, crying whenever we discussed it. I contacted Cynthia Gonzalez, who is a student at Bellus, to cut her hair given the circumstances and she thankfully agreed. Cynthia did such a wonderful job cutting her hair! It looks healthy and adorable, and my daughter is so happy with it that she mentions it everytime someone says hello! I was referred to a specific student here by a friend. It being a school, I was expecting an outdated decor with ancient equipment. But it was actually a very stylish, updated, clean high end style salon. The student that did my hair, Kaila, did an amazing job. She consulted with a teacher both before and after my cut. I had requested some tricky layering, so I was actually comforted when she would have the teacher coach her during the cut as well. I normally pay around $175 for a cut and color at a salon, so I expect gorgeous hair when I get it done. I walked out of here as happy as I would at a high end salon, but for a fraction of the price. Since their still developing their technique it does take longer than a regular salon. But I'd rather have it right than fast. You just have to be patient. I watched a movie on my phone. As others have said in other reviews, booking is tricky. Since I was requesting a specific student, I had to have her assist me in scheduling. For that reason it wasn't a 5 star. But I'll be going back to see Kaila again for a color and my daughter's hair cut. Update: On Monday I scheduled an appointment for a wrap at 1:30 on Wednesday. I was standing at the front desk when I scheduled the appointment, they even had a girl explain the wrap process to me, so I know it was booked. On Wednesday I drove from San Marcos to Poway for my appointment. When I get there I'm told they don't have me scheduled and they already have another wrap scheduled for that day. They offered to reschedule or do a back facial. 1) I don't have back acne, I don't need a facial. That's not what I booked for. 2) It's a long drive for me to go back and forth on the chance they may actually keep my appointment. So I've downgraded my initial review from 4 stars to 2. 4 stars for the quality of the cut and color. 1 star for the front desk and scheduling. I realize this isn't a professional salon. And if my issue was with the quality of the work I would have no right to complain. But the issue is with the clerical side of the operation. That's so basic there is no excuse for it. While the price is great, the aggravation of trying to receive services isn't worth it. Save yourself some time and hassle and pay the extra for a real salon. read more

I have been coming to Bellus for years, so when my daughter wanted to attend Bellus, I thought we were making the best choice. I was completely wrong! Poway Bellus Academy is a huge waste of money. Do not get fooled by all the positive things they say before they get your money they are worse than used car salesmen. From the day my daughter started it was problem after problem. They had excuse after excuse, and when excuses ran out, the director Anna stopped taking my calls. Anna is a real good talker who gets you to believe she is going to do something to fix situations but fails to follow through. This woman has no clue how to run a school and needs to learn a lot about business. I am guessing tuition money is being wasted on a healthy salary for her, Bellus is wasting their money. My daughter has been without a steady instructor the entire time she's been there. I paid for my daughter to be taught a trade for her future, and they took my money agreeing to provide instructors to teach her. Even though I had paid for the kit in her tuition that was needed for the classes there, she did not receive it until 2 weeks after the start date, and when she received it, she was missing items. The school makes an iPad part of their kit and charges you double the price you can get one from Amazon for. They are extremely unorganized. My daughter told the director 2 times about her missing items and was blown off. I should have asked for a refund on the tuition right then, but my daughter really wanted to do this. My daughter made several friends there, and each friend or friends parent have had the same awful experience there, and they too feel they wasted their money. 2 of her friends didn't pass the State Board test and have taken other jobs not related to this trade at all. Bellus Academy Poway is a waste of money and a complete disappointment. They need to get someone in there that knows how to run a school. It has been run into the ground. My daughter did not get experience on actual people nearly enough. When she did get a client 2 things happened , her confidence was broken because she did not know how to do the service or she had to be embarrassed when she had to turn the client away because the school was out of the supplies to do the service. So I ask where does our money go? I was in there quite often, so my daughter had something to do some way to practice. While there, I would verify for myself the horrible things my daughter would tell me about her day.There are never instructors around to help, one evening I waited in my daughter's chair for over 30 minutes while she went looking for an instructor. Alex or Alec, the instructor she finally found, was completely rude and did not want to be bothered. He was equally rude to clients. This place is a huge waste of money. If you are thinking of attending there or have a child wanting to attend there, don't look into any other option! You would normally see hundreds and hundreds of reviews like mine, but they have them taken down. What an honest place, right? I hope my review reaches at least one person before it gets taken down so I can save them from throwing away their money! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect with my first Bellus appointment - however I left very impressed with the service, the student stylist, the instructor who was constantly checking, the price, etc. In fact, I now have a "standing appointment" with the academy. It is imperative that customers consider that students are learning and in essence, we are their live models. We won't get the same stylists all the time and for various reasons. Also remember the times you received a less than favorable cut or coloring from an expensive salon - perhaps even with your favorite professional stylist. Appointments may take a bit longer, but I allow for that and thoroughly enjoy "My Time"! read more

But, many thanks to my friend Brittany who's not only given some awesome treatments to me, but actually explained what to do and how to take care of my skin! I've been following her advice the past couple weeks, and my skin has never felt and looked so smooth before! People used to guess my age in the 30s, now they guess the mid 20s! I'm 28, so it's not only a compliment to me, but to the amazing work that Brittany has been doing for me. I came to Bellus Academy for a couple anti-acne facials and a pumpkin facial by Juliann Nerida, and let me say that it made a significant difference to my face and she was phenomenal! My face has been clearing up! Red spots have been fading and I have less blackheads than before. Juliann was super sweet and went over what products or tools she would be using on my face and what she would be doing. While the masks were on my face she gave a small complimentary massage that was fantastic too! Everything was super relaxing! She extracted my face as well which really helped clear up my face. Overall the treatments are for sure working and at an affordable cost.
