Piccolo Italian Restaurant & Bar - Comfy seating area at the front

Great to have an alternative to the 4 Indian restaurants in Gatley!…read more Piccolo has an interesting split level layout, with a mezzanine floor and cosy screened areas with sofas, where you can enjoy a more relaxed meal or drinks. They have entertainment some nights and whilst that would normally put me off, they got the volume and style right and it worked for them. The food is reasonably priced and well put together. We had calimari and ribs to start, followed by prawn risotto and Vesuvio pizza. The service is attentive, although for me just a little lacking in finesse sometimes, just seems like some of the staff are a little inexperienced. I've been here 3 times, and overall Piccolo for me is a high 3 out of 5 stars and it's been improving each time I visit.

The restaurant has a live jazz singer on Friday and Saturday nights too. We came on a Saturday night and it was very busy - lucky we had booked. The menu was exciting and contained items we don't usually see in the chain Italian restaurant. For examples, I got the bruschetta with avocado, tomatoes and crab meat drizzled with pesto - every tasted good except I'm not a fan of plate decoration with balsamic glaze when it doesn't go with the dish. For my main, I ordered the tagliatelle with prawns and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce, which was gorgeous! Unfortunately, we had no room for pudding but we had a sneak peek and they also looked good! Next time! The atmosphere was great and the restaurant is a fantastic space with seating at various levels inside the building which used to be a church, I think. The jazz singer was good but it could be awkward at times when you're eating and she's singing at you, so if this isn't your kind of thing, come on another night!

I'm not sure how to score this place…read more The restaurant was nicely styled, everything new, clean etc., though it had no Turkish/ Istanbul character, nothing to suggest this was a Turkish restaurant - no character. It was busy ( for a Thursday night ) so that speaks volumes. I was in a group of about 15, on a work's night out, and we'd arranged prior that we'd just have a selection of food brought out to the table and everyone tuck in - so no one was choosing a la carte. Starters were lovely, though not much of it, with great spicy sausage & falafel, but very very tight on the hummous, tzadziki and pitta. However, the main course was just 4 big plates of meat. Well cooked, good quality but just meat. We all had a plate with some rice and a small salad, but the meat was overwhelming. It was too dry. None of it marinated. No accompanying sauces, dips or sides. A very boring meal. I will go again, just to order off an a la carte menu, but I didn't enjoy this meal.

I have been here often enough now to be certain that apart from friendly service, a great space to…read moredine as a couple, a large group or even alone, the food is consistentlly excellent across a very extensive menu. It beats all of the Turkish restaurants I have tried in the UK and even in the Turkish foodie hub of Kalkan. Prices are very reaonanle and the Angora red wine fits the cuisine like a glove. The lemon sorbet (try it with a shot of vodka) is the perfect palate cleanser among a variety of desserts.

It can I suppose be described as intimate. None the less I am here to report the food was very nice indeed. The staff despite being only a handful of them were very accomodating and we even had a visit from the chef to ask us how we enjoyed the food which was a nice touch. There were 6 of us and we all had a starter and a mains each with plentiful supply of poppadoms and drinks and the bill came to £14 each which I thought was very reasonable. I tried the seekh as a starter and Lamb tikka as the main. The seekh was cooked very nicely and the meat was tender however I felt it hadn't been seasoned properly and it was lacking a bit of kick. THe lamb tikka was very delicious indeed. Although this is a popular for locals I recommend it highly indeed if you are on you way back to Manchester from the south and come off at the motorway and are traveling along the A34 towards Didsbury. It's late at night and you're wondering where can I get a bite to eat there must be somewhere. Well look no further folks, whip out your phone click on your trustworthy Yelp app, click nearby and hey presto there it is Gatley cuisine. If you are reading this as you're doing this stop you naughty pull over and get directions on you phone or satnav. You really can't miss it, it is on Northenden road past the Gatley train station, it has the take away adjacent to it so it's a double whammy. Park right outside walk in take a seat and enjoy your meal.

This is a nice Pizza Express location, on High Street in Cheadle town centre. Parking is available…read morenearby, near The Upper Room Cafe and Tesco Express, however, parking is not complimentary as it is a private car park. PRO TIP: If you're dining in, be sure to use the Pizza Express app, depending on your tier in their loyalty scheme, you can get a bunch of free items with your meal. As a gold member, I can receive rewards such as Bottled Water, a soft drink, a hot drink and dolcetti, dough balls and a Romana pizza upgrade, at no additional charge. It can be a little pricey here, but when combined with these offers, or other offers, such as Tesco Clubcard, it becomes much more affordable, especially as you can combine it with a Pizza Express gift card, which is often sold at 20% off at retailers such as Amazon and Tesco. I was able to get a table fairly easily, despite visiting on a fairly early Saturday, I was able to reserve a table via the Pizza Express mobile app, and was able to get a table for my party of three, with as little as half an hour's notice. The interior is fairly pleasant and comfortable, although not as nice as some of their newly refurbished locations, it still was comfortable, with a small number of booths, and the open kitchen you'd find in any Pizza Express. The staff seemed very friendly and the service was at a good pace, I ordered my usual Pizza Express order, a gluten-free Pollo Pancetta pizza, with gluten-free dough balls, and the food was up to the usual standards set by the chain. The food was served piping hot and had steam coming from it, as I cut into it, which I've never gotten before, so that was great. I also appreciated the generous amount of garlic butter with the dough balls, as sometimes they can be stingy with it. My guests also commented on the flavours of the food, they shared a Romana base Funghi di Bosco Pizza on a Romana base and commented that they enjoyed the flavours, and also complimented the temperature, while also mentioning how the pizza was larger than normal too. 4* - A very good Pizza Express location, which I will surely return to in the future and a great brand to have in the town of Cheadle.

This has meant of course some great opportunities to go out and with this PE just down the road and my wife getting 40% off with her NUS card it seemed to make sense as opposed to sitting in our bedroom with a sandwich... First off you know what you're going to get - fresh ingredients, fairly decent pizzas and friendly staff - even if it is all more on the side of family friendly and chainy than the real taste of authentic Italy. Olives and cheese doughballs to start were nice with my giant pep, spinach and broccoli pizza coming soon after - epic taste and I was pleased they'd let me go off menu as broc doesn't usually come on pizzas and is just served as a side. My wife wasn't massively impressed with her salad for main as it was all just a bit leafy without much excitement involved - maybe give that a bit of a sprucing up soon menu decider guys at head office! But overall it was a nice trip out with our 2 year old who was given coloured pencils and an activity sheet to keep her occupied on arrival. All this with one wine and one beer came to £32 but it should have been about £55 before the student discount.

Like nearby Mackie Mayor and Altrincham Market, it's an old building which has been beautifully restored. If you've visited either of those sites then you know what to expect - a variety of food and drink vendors around the sides and seating in the middle. Grab a table, note the number and then go order your food. You pay when you order and then someone will bring the food to your table when it's ready. There's a great variety of foods here - pizza, pasta, Indian and Thai when we went - and we had an absolutely amazing Indian themed fried chicken burger topped with an onion bhaji. Absolutely delicious. There's beer and wine available too, plus a tea and coffee stand. I have it on good authority though that some of the beers here are pricier than you'd find in other nearby bars. But that's a minor grumble. For the setting, the food and the atmosphere, the Produce Hall is definitely worth a visit.
