We had calimari and ribs to start, followed by prawn risotto and Vesuvio pizza. The service is attentive, although for me just a little lacking in finesse sometimes, just seems like some of the staff are a little inexperienced. I've been here 3 times, and overall Piccolo for me is a high 3 out of 5 stars and it's been improving each time I visit.

For my main, I ordered the tagliatelle with prawns and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce, which was gorgeous! Unfortunately, we had no room for pudding but we had a sneak peek and they also looked good! Next time! The atmosphere was great and the restaurant is a fantastic space with seating at various levels inside the building which used to be a church, I think. Like nearby Mackie Mayor and Altrincham Market, it's an old building which has been beautifully restored. If you've visited either of those sites then you know what to expect - a variety of food and drink vendors around the sides and seating in the middle. Grab a table, note the number and then go order your food. You pay when you order and then someone will bring the food to your table when it's ready. There's a great variety of foods here - pizza, pasta, Indian and Thai when we went - and we had an absolutely amazing Indian themed fried chicken burger topped with an onion bhaji. Absolutely delicious. There's beer and wine available too, plus a tea and coffee stand. I have it on good authority though that some of the beers here are pricier than you'd find in other nearby bars. But that's a minor grumble. For the setting, the food and the atmosphere, the Produce Hall is definitely worth a visit.
