Coffee bun and lemon tarts will always be my favorite thing to buy at this shop…read more The ladies are really nice and the price of the food is reasonable, unfortunately there are only few sits located outside, so if you wanna get something at this shop you definitely have to take it home. The pie has a buttery flaky crust and complements the meaty filling.

Well..... you can always spot a proper bakers shop. Usually by the NAMB sticker in the window, but…read moreif not by the selection of quality produce on show. This wonderful shop is set in a shopping precinct on a main road, but it has a car park! You can't miss it since its logo is bright pink and black. As soon as me and my papa walked in we were super lovely greeted by big smiles from the staff. The selection of cakes is fab, but they specialise in celebration cakes including big extravaganzabonanza wedding cakes (visit the shop in Wilmslow for the best display). The cakes we so tempting I just asked the lady to put me a box together of her favourites and I couldn't wait to get home and open it to see what I had been given. Turns out it was a florentine (my all time fav, and my oh my it was good!), a custard filled lemon bun (wow), a caramel shortcake and a chocolate muffin with chocolate frosting and marshmallows! All were super tasty and I feel really pleased with the lady's choice. We didn't buy any bread from here today but the owner kindly let us sample the hot cross buns which the bakery boasts are the best in the area. I don't think she's got a challenge on her hands (unless she crosses the ringroad) they were really really good and soft and fresh and amazing. A great real bakery, where FRESH goodies are available at great prices with great service!

So I spent the day in Wilmslow (15mins on train from Manchester Piccadilly) thinking I'd have a…read morechange of scene while I worked on a new project and would try and pop a load of new biz's on the Yelp map at the same time. Whether I'm missing a few side streets I'm not too sure but most of the town centre seems to be filled with identikit chains and all the usual brands you'd get on any high street. Venturing a little further off the main drag, I spotted Rise with their board saying "best coffee in Wilmslow" so thought why not pop in and see if they're on the money with this! A nice little coffee shop with 2 friendly guys working, they seem to do a number of food options with me seeing everything from soups, sandwiches and beans on toast on other patrons plates around me. I ordered my customary Flat White and having picked up on the 'Aussie' voice of the barista I thought I was on to a winner. What arrived for £2.50 was a bowl of coffee - pretty much a latte which although wasn't too bad was about 4 times too big to be a flat white. They may serve the best coffee in Wilmslow...but all I could taste was the milk. When leaving urban centres there always does seem to be a drop in levels of knowledge or a bastardisation of a recipe to suit local needs and unfortunately the flat white seems to suffer from this... I should have gone for an espresso or macchiato instead... A nice little place, pop in if you're after a chilled out place for lunch.

Since James took over Rise a couple of years ago it's just gone from strength to strength…read more It's my favourite place to go in Wilmslow for a coffee and a quick bite of lunch! They're easy going and there's good wifi, so it's a great place to perch up for the afternoon and check your emails. At the weekends he has local live musicians playing which is a little bit different to the other things on offer in Wilmslow at the weekend. They also have monthly art exhibitions at the back of the venue! And it's a great pit-stop at the busy artisan markets every month. Again, dog friendly. So it's a winner in my book! James loves dogs too, always gives them a fuss and he has treats on the counter ready in exchange of a belly rub (of the dog of course...)

My visits: visited dozens of times 2011-2013 Summary: Cafe…read moreserving a wide range of great food (incl. Indian food) Food: wide range to eat-in or take-out: sandwiches, baked potatoes, salads but the Indian style food is also fantastic (e.g. Indian style spicy lamb burger). Staff: very pleasant (humans not robots) Location: couple of minutes walk from Cheadle Hulme railway station. Tips: listen to what the regulars order, e.g. the Chicken Heaven (marinated chicken) which is definitely recommended. Cakes great as well. Can get busy around 1pm (but very variable), quiet other times. Other notes: function room available, other events such as Indian cooking courses.

This place looks quite dressed up for a coffee shop, and why not! The chic and contemporary decor…read moreincludes a cream, red and black colour scheme with comfy suede sofas, there is plenty of seating in here and the lighting is soft and relaxing... just what you need when stopping for a liquid pick-me-up like the many choices of tea of coffee, for food they serve home made bread and cakes, breakfasts, suitable for both meat lovers & veggies! The lunch menu is what sets this cafe apart from others though... you will be tempted by soups, sandwiches, salads, beef and lamb burgers and their signature Chicken Heaven, oven-roasted marinated Indian chicken served with tomatoes, a yoghurt mint sauce and mayonnaise. Knowing it is hard to get children to eat (as I do) they have also come up with the fantastic idea of letting little ones help make their own pizza! even better still, they have a licence, so you can (if you want) have a nice glass of wine with your sandwich! This has to be my favorite cafe in Cheadle by far!
