Think I spent just over 16 quid for maybe 5 or 6 pints. Further, they have a pool table in the side room where the locals teach you about 'free play'. Nifty idea sticking those beer coasters into the pockets so you dont need to pay for each game. Its funny because I think the place would have been dead if one had to pay for each game of pool. She is very self-conscious and has difficulty cutting food with one partly-functioning hand, and hates fuss. She was at ease in a quiet corner and had the confidence to ask if there was any possibility of having an omelette. The chef agreed, offered a range of toppings and instead of feeling like an inconvenience, my aunt felt like a queen. Today was the first time she's had a meal, having been unable to eat more than toast recently. She had a little giggle with other diners and was amazed at the care staff gave to our old dog. We took her home, tired, happy and well-fed, to have a sleep. I cannot express how grateful I am for all the trouble and care Dana? (apologies for spelling ) Chef and your f.o.h staff took to bring her happiness. The food was terrific, and so was the beer.

At first, we were told only the tiramisu was unavailable. After ordering the Biscoff cheesecake and vanilla gelato, our server came back to let us know there was no cheesecake. It's a small thing, but letting diners know the dessert availability before ordering would've been appreciated. Also... the dry martini didn't taste much like a martini. Not sure what went into it, but it had a strong violet scent and reminded me of nail polish remover - sorry! Overall though, it was a pleasant lunch spot and we enjoyed the meal.

Don't you hate it when you overeat and feel gross the rest of the day? I had their homemade roasted root vegetable soup, which was served with freshly baked mini loafs of bread and two different herbed butter. Ummm-- freaking yummy amazingness. The soup was delicious. I literally wanted to lick the bowl. I also had their micro green market salad which was served in a delightful little blue ceramic Kilner-like jar. My husband had the lamb shoulder shepherds pie with lovely peaks of mash and huge chunks of lamb-- a wonderfully delicious change from the mince you usually find in shepherds pie. Finished off with a perfectly frothed cappuccino, attentive staff, affordable prices and cozy atmosphere (the real fireplaces are a particular plus). Newly refurbished, I love the fact that this venue is so compact, making it an intimate evening with friends, especially when live acts are playing here (Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends I believe but check their website to be sure). The bar is tiny too, but the staff are always working hard with a smile. Draught beers include Peroni, Cruzcampo and Becks Vier and they have a great wine and spirit list. I'm always angling for the plush red sofa, but you have to get here early doors if you want a look in!
