After an unexpected change of plans... I hopped on a train to Manchester from York around 6:30pm... And do you want to know the sole thing that was on my mind?
"Where am I going to eat dinner when I get to Manchester?"
Yelper/Foodie problems, right? Ha!
Anywho... I managed to book a room at the Hilton Hotel right next to Manchester Airport and I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to see it had a restaurant with loads of delicious GiGi-diet approved menu items! Grilled mixed seafood kabob?! Yes, please!
I basically already knew what I wanted before even sitting down at the table we were led to, but so as to not look COMPLETELY CRAZY, I pretended to be deep in deliberation about what I wanted to eat... Let's be real though: fiancé knows I'm CRAZY!
I ordered:
- Grilled Mackerel salad, however, I exchanged the beans for just a mixed green salad.
- Mixed Seafood Kebob with a side salad and a side of steamed vegetables.
Fiancé ordered:
- Cheeseburger & Fries... And I gave him some broccoli from the side of steamed veggies I ordered (he NEEDS SO SOME OF FIBER in his life!)
I was super excited when the food arrived as it looked magically... And magic did it do to my tastebuds!
The mackerel salad... Holy hot damn the portion of mackerel was HUGE! Any normal person would have been STUFFED after eating that salad alone, but the addition of the seafood Kebob sealed the deal on fullness for me! All around, SO GOOD! And the best part is that when I initially came to the UK, I heard that mackerel is a specialty and done really well and from then on I wanted some! Cross that off the list!
Fiancé's burger was on point. No complaints on his end at all, minus the fact that the meal was pretty pricy. But I give ZERO Fs about that, as long as the portions are large and the food is good, which this restaurant did perfectly!
*If you're staying at the hotel, you can charge your meal to your room, and for a split second, pretend you're eating a free dinner!
*The restaurants ambiance is neat and tidy! I definitely recommend it to anyone who's traveling in/out of Manchester! read more
