I came to eat here last week with my boyfriend and his family. I was especially looking forward to…read morecoming here as it had won Restaurant of the Year 2011 by Eat Sheffield! The drive to the restaurant was lovely and scenic, going down dark and winding country roads until suddenly we drive around a corner and The Devonshire Arms appeared! We'd got there a little early and we sat down by the bar for some drinks. The menu was displayed on a chalkboard by the seating area and it all looked yummy! The dining area was quite small but very nice and cosy. The kitchen was open and you could see the chefs chopping and cooking away which I quite liked. I chose the rabbit and pheasant terrine with grape chutney as my starter; it came with onion bread and the slice of terrine was huge! I really wanted to finish it, but I couldn't as there was no way I'd be have enough room for my main! For the main, I had venison steak served with new potatoes (usually served with mash which I couldn't have as it had milk/cream in it) and braised red cabbage. The steak was pink and cooked to perfection and the red cabbage was sweet but with a little tart edge to it. I didn't have a dessert but the rest of the party did - my boyfriend had a deconstructed banana cheesecake and his sister had a brownie (I overheard her saying it was the best brownie she'd ever tasted!). All of the staff were really nice, especially the lady who served us that night, she was really lovely and very attentive. The Devonshire Arms fully deserves it's awards and hope it gets more in the future. If you're ever around the Sheffield area and want to venture out of the city centre for some food make sure you come here. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect meal.

After a heavy night I took my friend here for brunch. On the outside it looks closed. Walking up the stairs exposes a open kitchen and large seating area with cacti everywhere and a cool kat clock over looking the place. The service was enjoyable from start to finish..90 percent of staff including the chef looked genuinely happy to be working there dancing to the music smiling as they cooked and served. It gave it a buzz! The menu consists of well..a American diner..from the special board I chose the maple pecan nut shake and the Benny crab cakes.. my friend had the spinach and poached eggs dish with fresh mint tea. The Shake was huge and yummy and while I waited for my food I kept seeing indulgent stacks of pancakes being whisked away. My poached eggs were oozy and perfect and the crab cakes.. well very crabby! And rich..to break it up there was water melon on the side which refreshed the palette. My friend really enjoyed hers too. I really want to come back here :( please extend your opening times!!

I really adored this restaurant. It's ran by the type of people who REALLY give a darn about what…read morepeople think of them, their food and especially their service. The staff will joke with you as if you were their friend, they'll make a fuss of you, compliment you and recommend EVERYTHING on the menu. No seriously, don't ask for a recommendation because they say everything - and you can see why when it arrives! You have to go for the full shebang here - Starter, Mains and Dessert. Don't you dare not order one of them! You'll miss out! I opted for Duck for the mains - I love Duck, it's my favourite meat to have for a dish - and it was exquisite. The sauce was definitely homemade, with a tangy orange finish presented with shavings of orange peel. I loved the attention to detail with the dishes even with the restaurant HEAVING. They don't lapse and they don't forget. Main dishes (meat) come with sides of roast potatoes, green beans, carrots and broccoli (chef's choice of seasoned vegetables). The roast spuds had soft centres and crispy coatings - delish! Roasting done right. For dessert (see pictures) I ordered a lemon sorbet accompanied by the sweetest toffee sauce drizzle in the shape of a flower! Again, presentation is clearly a key aspect here. Loved it. Being a Tuesday night and celebrating my Dad's birthday, you wouldn't really expect a lot of people at a restaurant for starters on a Tuesday night (wrong!) and you wouldn't expect every other table in there to be there for someones birthday right? WRONG! EVERY single table was there for a birthday. No joke! They crank up the birthday music every time! I'd meant to make a cake for this occasion but I hadn't had time. I asked the waitress if it was possible to wish him a happy birthday and add something special to his dessert. If you look at the picture I uploaded, they wrote Happy Birthday in sauce and added extra strawberries to his cake. As we were leaving, the staff practically dressed up - wrapping us up in our scarves and holding our coats as we put them on. They joked with us about bringing more people and which football club we supported and made everyone feel very wanted and valued. I do love good customer service and this place has it, under pressure, and doesn't cease to surprise.

The owner was very welcoming and gave us free garlic bread as starters which was needed as the green lipped mussels for starters took ages to arrive which they were well aware of and in the end they served us our antipasti without the mussels. Once the muscles arrived, they were big and worth waiting for. We all ordered different mains and they all came out together. The seafood dishes looked great with lobster on top but the steak looked a bit drab drowning in the sauce and one of the pasta dishes didn't look appealing but tasted great. The service was great all night and we had numerous wait staff looking after us and they were happy to take photos of us etc. When we ordered our dessert one of the wait staff was extremely proud to have made two of the dishes - the panna cotta and the creme caramel. I ordered the panna cotta, although the consistency was thicker to what I am used to it tasted delicious. Despite how busy the place was for a Sunday night we didn't see any celebs. I can understand why people keep coming back as the owner makes everyone feel welcome and you feel as if you know him as he wishes and hugs everyone as they leave. Ample parking over the road but you have to navigate through broken glass to get into the restaurant.

A-MA-ZING! This is the best Take Away I've ever been to (and the only one going foward!)…read more We drove past late on Saturday evening on the off chance Nasi Lemak was open and it was (YAY!!). While making our choice the gentleman serving gave us a taster of a few different curries, but on this occasion selected a few light Street Food starters. The Thai Glass Noodle Salad is gorgeous, fresh, full of flavour and spicy. The Chicken Skewers with Satay Sauce was a taste sensation with a tangy peanut sauce (not heavy or oily) and the Salt Pepper Cod Fish Goujons were suculent and just flaked apart. Considering NL were just about to close the food was excellent and not what I was expecting at the end of a Saturday night. This is high quality restaurant food but take away... I LOVE IT....can you tell?!! Oh, and next time I'll be having Beef Rendang on Nasi Lemak...thanks for letting us try it, the beef just fell apart!!
