Do not give Bellhop your money unless you're a gambler, because there is a very low chance they will show up at all. We were scheduled to move at 11am, nobody showed, so we called every hour and got directed to an AI "Assistant" who couldn't tell up from down. It is impossible to get on the line with a human. So we got started finally at 3pm by ourselves, All just to hear an hour later that our movers would not be showing up due to "unexpected difficulties". You know what else is an unexpected difficulty? Paying $400 to move an entire apartment up 3 flights of stairs with my 60yr old parents and the movers can't even show because this brain dead company can't get anything straight. And no I don't want a half-a** AI "Sorry for your trouble" response, I want a full refund and a new spine for my dad. Hope the day off was worth it Bellhop, see yall again never. I have used bellhop 's at least two times before 2023. Are use them to move me on May 10, 2023. That particular move was awful. The movers arrived on time but that is the only positive about the move. Towards the end of loading the truck, the leader told me they would not be able to get everything on the truck. I asked if they were going to make a second load? He said no, I would have to call and schedule another day. I told him that today was my day to move and there was not another day. After they unloaded what they could get on the truck, they left. My son and I worked from 4 pm until 10:30 pm that night moving the rest of my furniture. The movers scratched hardwood floors, and the home I was moving from and the home in which I moved to. the movers damaged several pieces of expensive furniture. During the move, I questioned why they were not wrapping plastic wrap around the furniture to protect it and the crew foreman said he had plastic wrap, but he had already stacked furniture and the truck and could not get to it legs were broken on furniture after the move I filed a claim with Bellhop 's, and to make matters worse they offered me I'll be a fraction of the estimated loss. We had a horrible experience with this company. Floors redone and needed movers to help move furniture to main level. The piece in picture was dropped down front steps. It has about 25 scratches on one side. The drivers left furniture and got in car. You can see it on the sidewalk. We called and told us they would not come back to move it. It is too heavy. Told to hire someone after I had hired them. I asked about the damage...someone will contact is in 2-3 days. They walked away from job and did not complete it. After speaking to someone the price was adjusted. It was still higher than what we had originally agreed on and it was more than what we paid (moving the same amount of furniture) across states using Bellhop a year prior. Their customer service representative was very polite and tried to help. They don't seem to have a policy to avoid these situations from happening. I would not call our experience terrible, but they did make our move more stressful than it needed to be. We booked 4 guys and truck for 3 hours a month before our move. We only needed them to move our large items (tables, beds, and couches). We were scheduled for the Sunday before Thanksgiving at 8AM. That Sunday morning they called us at 7:30AM requesting to reschedule for Tuesday at 11AM because two of the guys had called out. My husband told them that was absolutely unacceptable. We both work full time and cannot get off at the drop of a dime. Also they had two guys call our, which meant they still had two guys and they needed to send them. They made it seem like they were not sure if that would work. Why would this not work? Here we are less than 30 minutes before they are supposed to be at our house, everything is disassembled, and they are acting like they may not come. About 10 minutes after the first call we received a call from the team lead confirming the address and that three guys would be coming, but one would be late. That was fine. We were back on track ready to roll. Another 5 minutes pass and we received a third phone call telling us only 2 guys were coming. At this point I am annoyed because they are obviously having internal communication problems. I told them I don't care if it is 2 or 3 guys, but someone needed to be at my house at 8AM and everything large needed to be moved. It was not our fault their people called out. Our move should not be inconvenienced for their mismanagement. During the move we only had 2 guys to load the truck, which took about 3 hours. A third guy showed up to help with the unload, which only took about 30 minutes. Our bill came and we were charged for 2 guys for 3 1/2 hour, which was accurate, but then I noticed the third guy was charging us for 2 hours. I complained to Bellhops and they corrected it to 30 minutes, but they worded their response like it was a favor they were doing. I understand the 2 hour minimum, but I paid 2 hours for the other 2 guys. It should NOT be 2 hour minimum PER GUY. That should be made more clear. As I said, they did give me a discount so we were only charged 30 minutes, but the fiasco in the morning added with having to say anything about my bill at all is ridiculous. The team did arrive on time and did a decent job loading and unloading the items we needed. Our dining room table was slightly cracked and I am still waiting on receiving the claim information on it. This was a very disappointing experience overall. We recently signed a lease with a new apartment complex who gave us free 2 hour unloading session with bellhops. In an attempt to streamline the process, we called to schedule movers to load our moving truck. They did not have anything on the day we wanted but could do it the day before at 5pm. On the day of the move, we get a call at 4:30 that the mover had a car accident and he suggested that we reschedule. We called Bellhops who told us that the other movers were still going and the lead mover who crashed would get to us as soon as possible. Well almost 2 hours passed and no movers showed up. When we called again they said that the movers had already checked in and clocked out of our move. When we explained the situation they told me they would call me back in a few minutes after speaking to their operations department. After 20 minutes and no phone call, I called back and they told me that I never called (which wasn't true) and then proceeded to say that they couldn't reschedule movers for the following day. While they said that they could possibly call other movers to see if they were available, they never once apologized for the series of events. Instead they blamed me first then realized they were wrong and then said that they couldn't do anything. I found their lack of responsibility and responsiveness appalling. TL;DR - The company is highly disorganized and their internal software system needs to be reworked. I do not recommend. We booked the company to load the truck for our move to our new house. The booking was easy and the price was decent. They charged about $20 as a "reservation hold fee," and then another $400 charge as an estimate of the total costs. Unfortunately, our house closing date was delayed. We immediately rescheduled the service (several days in advance) and received a confirmation email for the rescheduled date and time. Everything seemed fine. Then, on the original moving date, we received a text message from one of the movers. He had not been informed that we had rescheduled. Soon after, we received another message from a different person on the moving team--he also was not informed about the reschedule. At this point, we called customer service to resolve the issue. The customer service rep, who claimed to be a supervisor, asserted there was no record of the reschedule in their system--despite our email confirmation. He did admit (after about 20 minutes) that their records indicated they received a call from us on the day we rescheduled and that he could review the call recording. This was annoying, but it would've been fine if they had fixed their mistake; that didn't happen. He apologized for the "miscommunication" and informed us that we could no longer book their services on the date we needed...the date on our email confirmation. Did I mention we had a confirmation? Throughout the process, the rep was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We ultimately requested a refund. They refunded our $400, but kept the $20 reservation hold fee. The company is highly disorganized and their software system needs to be reworked. I would not recommend. read more

I had a scheduled long distance move with Bellhop. The truck showed up on time, but only one mover showed up to pack the truck. Bellhop evidently tried to get other movers to come, but I had to help the one mover pack the truck myself. I then let Bellhop know that we would be late arriving in Knoxville so that the movers to unload the truck in Knoxville would know, and they still did not inform the movers in Knoxville know we would be late. They showed up 2 hours before the truck got there. Fortunately they stayed to help unload the truck into new home. Poor communication and movers in Birmingham unreliable. AJ Zamora, Luis Hernandez and Lothar Mejia were an absolutely awesome team. I would hire them again for my next move. They were fast and efficient, while also personable at the same time. I appreciated their attention to detail in placing all of our items in the correct room and setting things up like the couch -- they are real pros. Our driver, Ken, was a friendly and professional driver. He was there for the entire loading and unloading and was helping the team load the truck with care so our belongings were safe. This was our first time using bellhops for a long distance move, but we have previously used them for local moves. We have never been unhappy, which is why we continue to use Bellhop for every move. Michael and James were right on time and worked their butts off the entire 6-1/2 hours it took them to move my office. They were very professional and nothing was damaged. My only issue, and was why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5, was that the phone estimate was for 2 hours. Should've read the reviews first. The only thing that went well is they showed up on time. After introductions that weren't particularly friendly and seemed to be more of a bother to the "captain of the crew" they began unloading my home into the truck. Near the end, the captain informed me that not all of my items would fit into the truck bellhop assigned and that I needed to call the corporate office. He stated they would not make two trips. I did right at that moment. I stayed on hold for around 15 minutes and got dispatched to the correct person. This was at 3pm on Friday. I was told I would be called before end of business day as I still had patio furniture that needed to be moved and the house was to be sold on Monday. He assured me that I would be prioritized and I would hear back shortly. Unfortunately that did not happen. I received a call back around 11am the following day informing me that they could come back for the rest of my items on Monday, but for a fee of around $450 (the original move was $750). Granted he had no clue what inventory remained at my home and blindly quoted a ridiculous extra cost for their mistake. They blame the client and do little to remediate their own errors. Not to mention- be wary if you want your stuff protected. Expect broken items, damaged floors, and scuffed up walls. Lastly the icing on the cake was that one of the movers had to use the restroom. Not a problem. Little did we know he was going to stop up the toilet. Our first purchase for our new home was a plunger. Got to love it! Please steer clear of this company. My fiancé and I ended up renting a Uhaul truck and loading the remaining items. Much less costly then $400+. read more

I scheduled Bellhop for our move June 3rd for a June 25th move. They called me at 3:30 June 24th to cancel because they "didn't have enough staff" to fulfill the reservation. They'd be happy to reschedule the 30th, the day AFTER I close and relinquish possession of my house! I needed moving services from Birmingham to Atlanta. I contacted bellhopper and scheduled the loading and offloading efforts. The dispatcher organized both events and sent email confirmation. The day of loading in Birmingham, the two young men were very punctual and professional. Very well mannered. The same for the afternoon in Atlanta. The two young men were on time and worked extremely well. Very mannerable and spoke well. I saved over $600 renting a Penske truck and having bellhoper to load and unload. We scheduled 3 movers for 10/3 and they confirmed with us multiple times the morning we were supposed to move that they would be there that day on 10/3. Then 30 minutes before they were supposed to arrive they called letting us know they would need to reschedule because they did not have anyone to come move us. That was not an option seeing as we had to take off work to move in the first place and had to be out that day. We found someone else to help get our big furniture, and then one guy ended up showing up from bellhops to help. We told them we would not pay seeing as it was not our fault they did not have the staff. Not only did we get charged $320 on 10/5, but they charged us another $360 on 10/25 and will not refund us. Apparently there are zero notes in the system about what happened. This is pathetic and unprofessional and if we don't get refunded for the full amount asap we will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. read more

If this was disclosed up front I would not have an issue, but it was only made clear after I received a quote and was going to book based on the quote I received. Ryan and Thomas showed up early and were ready to start working. They were very communicative and helpful during the move. When booking your move, I would suggest erring on the side of having too much help than not enough. You will get reimbursed if you end up not needing the help or finish before the expected time. I was very optimistic about our move and we ended up having a lot more 'stuff' than originally thought. The bellhops were extremely professional and never complained once. Bellhop is hand down the WORST moving company I have ever had to deal with. My wife and I booked them for a move 3 weeks before our move date, and Bellhop canceled our reservation 1 hour before they were supposed to arrive. We had both taken off of work and rented a truck for our reservation date as we had to be completely out of our old house the following day. When we reached out to Bellhop directly after the cancellation and explained our situation, they were only able to offer a rescheduled date for 2 weeks later. I had to reach out to a local mover, pay an extra rush fee due to the short notice, and was only able to book 1 out of the 3 movers that we needed. We were almost completely finished with the move from the first house (with a different mover) when a Bellhop contractor showed up to "take inventory of our belongings" so they could see when they could reschedule our move. He then proceeded to stay and help move for a little over an hour as we finished. I asked him specifically if we were going to be charged for this and he said that we would not since Bellhop had messed our reservation up on their end. I contacted customer service the following day and spoke to a rep about the situation and they were adamant that we would not be charged at all. Since then, they have charged and refunded my account 3 separate times and I am now out $640 for a single mover that showed up and worked for an hour. I have attached receipts and account statements showing the charges to my account. I have reached out several times about this and it is still not resolved. Long story short, if you want a reliable straight forward move, avoid Bellhop at all costs. read more
