I appreciated them pointing that out and explaining it instead of just ignoring it. Their pricing was fair too, especially after getting quotes from a couple other places. Over the last four and a half years I've brought in four different cars including family members cars and all have been handled with premium care. Jeff and Jim have always been overly communicative, never do any work that they don't talk to you and get your approval first, and their team does great work. The pricing is very fair. They will even give a new car a full inspection and give you honest feedback. We had a family member buy a car from Carvana that had some issues that were covered under warranty. CD Jr dealt with the third party completely and updated us every step of the way. If you want your car worked on by honest mechanics who won't talk down to you (a complaint my wife certainly and justifiably has) and treat you with respect, go to Jeff and the gang.

I would give Eric ten stars if I could…read more My family and I found ourselves in a nightmare situation: our wheel bearing failed in Chicago traffic, halfway through a cross country road trip with two kids and a dog. A frantic Google led me to Eric. I called him and, unlike every other mechanic we reached out to, he took our emergency seriously, and assured us he'd look at our car right away when we got to him. True to his word, he had our car up on the lift within 15 minutes of our arrival, and brought us over to show us the (sadly very catastrophic and obvious) failure of our wheel bearing, and the other systems it had taken out with it. He gave us an itemized clear estimate, which identified a part he wasn't sure we'd need, and clearly laid out our best and worst case scenarios. His costs and timing were exactly as advertised. Thankfully we did not require the extra part, and he was honest about that. Eric was kind and friendly, got us the information we needed when we needed it (making extra phone calls to give us a clear timeline), and let all of us (including our dog!) hang out in his very nice clean waiting room. He had sodas, and a TV, so the kiddos were happy, and we were back on the road within 4 hours of our arrival which felt like a small miracle. Our car is running great. His costs were fair and reasonable. While he isn't immediately off the highway it was very easy to find him, and under 5 minutes' drive from 90. Highly, highly recommended! Bonus: he had some really cool cars he was working on, which we got to check out, and a display of vintage car parts that were fun to see.

I am vey disappointed with my second experience with Eric's Auto Lab. The first experience was good…read moreoverall, that's why I decided to return for a second visit when my car gear knob failed. To my disbelief, this visit was the complete opposite experience of the first. This visit there was a lack of communication between the shop and I. I had to contact them the majority of the time just to try to get an update once a day to see how things were progressing. I did not think this was much to ask from a normal stand point. And if at anytime they would have told me they could not work on my car in a timely manner, I would have had it removed to another auto service center, but they did not mention that. There was a lot of request to replace parts, but no clear progress truly made in the 4 day ordeal. In the end I was told I caused the damage by spilling coffee in my car, lied and told my car was not drivable at any point during it's stay there, but it was ( I have a LoJack system)and was first denied proof of warranty for the parts they did replace that I paid for( which is against the law) but had to be replaced again at the auto dealership due to their negligence. All of this is my reason behind my decision to leave a negative review. I trusted this auto shop to provide great service as they have state across many other sites, but they have failed me. Even the car dealership, where I had my car towed after Eric's was surprised at the poor workmanship. They have provide me written proof to how the car was received and what two parts they had to replace again that Eric's claimed to have fixed. I will never trust this auto shop again with any vehicle of mine. I have tried to contact them through the BBB to come to some compromise on settling this dispute, but no response at all. They charged me 1750.00 for absolutely doing nothing but causing more harm to my car. I will proceed with further legal action to get this settled.

He asked me a couple of questions and told me what he thought was the problem and an approximate cost to repair. I said I would be there Monday morning. I arrived Monday morning and they drove my car around a tiny bit to see what was happening. I received a call a few minutes later and they told me what needed to be done (front brake pads and rotors) and the cost (which was what I was told on Saturday). It's so nice to find a trustworthy automotive repair shop. Mark and his team did everything they said needed to be done at the price quoted.
