Almond croissant and a cinnamon pecan Cinnabon or bear claw or something like that

So it's a nice little place. I think fairly new. I didn't have high hopes but absolutely everything we tried was good. I'd stay with the lemon curd filled crumpet or danish... it's a Boston creme style filling with a lemon flavor. The croissant is amazing and the ham and cheese croissant is ridonculous! The cinnamon and sugar balls at the register are a nice grab and go, crispy and sweet style dough ball kinda thing. Very good. We tried a sour dough sample that was also very good. It's not everyday you find this quality bakery with this level of standard. Very impressive. They are perfectionist and it shows. The prices are on the high side but worth it. We are gonna make this place a regular stop even though it's an hour drive one way.

Newly Opened! The pastries and offerings at this little French-style pâtisserie are exquisite--worthy of a following in places like NYC, the Hamptons, or Boston. Hallowell $? The owner is cordon bleu taught, incredibly talented (see bio), friendly + accommodating, with a small staff handling everything from mixing dough, to pastry design and at the counter. Hallowell parking limits people passing by to stop -- I took several turnarounds til I could stop as recommended by another baker. I'd truly like to see this shop be successful. I value the small businesses like this. These are rare in Maine and when I travel I gravitate to these little European type cafes!! My favorite places. I enjoyed my pastries. i will return ... !!! Before 2:00 Coffee shop close Best of luck. !

Cruffin (maple bacon and strawberry rhubarb), morning buns, ham and cheese croissant, and pain au chocolate.

Grabbed a few things to try at home. It was fantastic! The service was quick and the baked goods were delicious. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely phenomenal products. And while I understand good quality costs money, the prices are really, really high.

Wild Oats was the perfect surprise stop on our road trip from Portland to Bar Harbor. We pulled off…read morein Brunswick for a quick break and ended up having one of the best coffee experiences of the entire trip. I walked in thinking I'd order something simple, but Jocelyn somehow anticipated exactly what I wanted before I even said it -- an oatmeal latte with honey infused right into the espresso. It was warm, silky, lightly sweet, and honestly one of the most thoughtful, dialed‑in drinks I've had anywhere. You can tell when someone really knows their craft, and she absolutely does. We also grabbed the curried chicken sandwich, which was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect balance of creamy and bright. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you pause mid‑bite and go, "Wait... this is really good." The whole place has that cozy‑local‑favorite energy -- friendly staff, great food, and the kind of coffee that makes you want to reroute your trip just to come back again. If you're driving through Freeport, Camden, or anywhere along the coast, Wild Oats is 100% worth the detour.

Upon entry, you'll see the current offerings in a display to the right, and a view into the kitchen through a window in the left. The friendly staff could not be nicer; zero attitude whatsoever even after winning a prestigious James Beard award. Zero seating, too, unfortunately, other than a few benches outside. -- Chocolate Croissant: A sturdy brown contraption with a crusty exterior and a bready interior. Mine was still warm, with a good crackly bite and hints of wood flavor from the oven. Underneath were strong accents of chocolate. Very good and very different. -- Almond Croissant: A swirl shape along the lines of pain au raisins, but with almonds and almond filling. That filling was nicely understated and natural, complementing while deferring to the still-warm dough. Another example of very good and very different. This place strikes me more as a bread bakery that also bakes pastries than a pastry shop that also bakes bread-- not that there's anything wrong with that. And it's a place that's willing to sacrifice breadth of offerings (at least at any one time) for quality of offerings, and there's nothing wrong with that either. Looking forward to many more visits to get that breadth-- and bread-- over time.
