This little gem in Young, AZ is complete with unique & cozy accommodations with amazing views and, of course, Robin and Karla. My boyfriend and I were invited by a good friend & there were 7 of us total. No particular agenda or specific plans were made for this little trip, but we were plenty occupied and engaged the entire time. We stayed in the Saloon/Guesthouse (which Robin built, by the way!) and it was plenty of space for everyone. Upon arriving Saturday morning, we met Robin & Karla and proceeded to unload our vehicles. After that, we spend some time observing their horses and soaking in the beautiful weather. Robin & Karla were filling us in on some of the history of the area. I could listen to them talk for DAYS. They're such great storytellers and their passion for digging into the past in an effort to preserve it is really admirable. After about a hour or so, Robin took us out into the woods.. Not sure exactly where we went, but he hopped on his quad and we followed behind (caravan of SUVs & pickup trucks). The road was windy and bumpy and we got some weird looks from the cattle as we blazed passed. We spent a few hours hiking down to some water while Robin filled us in on more history. Some of us panned for gold, others explored the area (found an abandoned mine) or fired some rounds nearby. It was a nice, relaxing morning. We went back to the Inn around 130p and Robin started showing us how to rope. A couple of us gave it a shot.. I didn't. I just stood back & took photos :) Then around 330p, we went up the road to a winery for a tasting (Bruzzi Vineyard.. I'll review separately). We returned a couple hours later with several bottles of wine and started cooking/grilling dinner. Robin & Karla joined us for dinner and conversation in the saloon. We played pool & had a very relaxing evening. Sunday morning didn't really have much on the agenda. After breakfast, Robin & Karla took us up the road to the Hogland General Store and gave us a tour of the structures on the land. Again, more information about the history and the people that lived in Young years ago. It was all very interesting. We will definitely be back & hope to have time for a longer stay.

It is a quaint old school Arizona bed and breakfast with the comforts of home. Our hostess, Joy was just a treat giving us good suggestions for dinner in Apache Junction, made us feel as comfortable as could be in one of her cabins, (the tack room from the ranch). Our breakfast was in the refrigerator in our room and was banana bread, orange juice, coffee, fresh fruit, trail mix for the hike, yogurt, pretzels, really very nice. You can enjoy the front porch to watch the sunset in the west or sit on the patio behind the cabin and view the mountains to the east. There is a trail that leaves right from her property that connects to the Flat Iron trail and Siphon Draw trail. We woke in the morning to the Flat Iron right out of our window, mule deer grazing 15 feet from our cabin. By quaint I mean 6,500 square feet with enough pull-out couches to fit a small circus. The good: -Never ran out of hot water! -Almost every room had a flat screen TV. -I think the North Pole threw up in this house. Christmas trees EVERYWHERE. It was glorious. -Complete kitchen with everything a group on clowns could possibly need (pitchforks for s'mores, got'em) -Amenities galore, check the website. The bad: -I was expecting there to be snow and it was 60 degrees outside during the day. -One night I slept in the sun-room in the master bedroom and it got really hot in the morning...but I guess that's why they call it a sun-room. -Playing volleyball on the fake-grass area is tough because the ball kept going down the hill. -We didn't pack enough food so we had to hit up the nearby Safeway. Muleshoe Ranch is located at the southern end of a 50 mile riparian nature preserve, at the convergence of three rivers in the Galiuro mountains. You can climb mountains, explore the terrain, hike through shady riverbeds or do all of the above in a single day. Your self guided adventures can range from an easy nature trail to a half day loop (Beth Woodin Trail, which is spectacular) or a 4 wheel drive expedition into the backcountry. The landscape changes with the seasons and at night there's some of the best stargazing you'll find anywhere. Wildlife abounds, and includes many species of hummingbirds as well as elusive troops of ring tailed coatimundi. Wildflowers are abundant in the springtime and the streambeds teem with life. There are plenty of little outdoor seating areas to rest and relax. There is an outdoor deck for stargazing and wildlife viewing, as well as a common room for socializing with other guests. Nearby there is a visitor center and a small gift shop which are open to day visitors during limited hours. The icing on the cake are the two outdoor natural spring fed hot (very hot!) tubs crafted from round galvanized cattle troughs, which are only available to overnight guests. Before or after a strenuous day of hiking they are heavenly! Be sure to visit the Nature Conservancy/Muleshoe website and read through all of the details about a stay at Muleshoe to decide whether it's right for you. It is a very special place off of the beaten path of tourist travel.

Each has a bathroom, a little kitchen, and usually seating either on the front patio or back patio. Hot water was perfect and the septic system worked very well. And don't forget to pack your swimsuit-they have hot tubs that you can sit in. And I haven't heard if you get up early enough sitting in them to watch the sunrise is well worth the early morning alarm!

This is our second stay here, having been here 2 years ago. The hot tub took 2 weeks to get fixed…read more Then the pool heater went out. The maintenance man yelled at 20 people gathered around the pool because he got called to check it out. I'm hearing it'll take a couple of weeks to fix. They fired the manager so there's someone at the desk and the maintenance man for employees. The pvc water lines break 1-2 times a week and it requires everyone's water off to repair. I'll look elsewhere next time.
