My husband was craving Italian so we came to Bella Verona. It's a cute little restaurant with typical Italian and Greek decor. We were seated right away and our waitress, Jennifer, got our drink order as soon as we sat down. Jennifer asked if we wanted garlic butter on our basket of breadsticks and of course we said, "Yes, please!" I ordered the Bella Verona Sampler which comes with mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, stuffed jalapeños, onion rings and chicken fingers. My husband ordered the Meat Ravioli with meat sauce and it came with a salad. We ate the garlic buttered breadsticks and salad before I even thought to take a picture. They were that good! Haha. The sampler was amazing! They give you marinara for the mozzarella sticks and your choice of a dipping sauce for the chicken strips. I chose bbq sauce and it was really good. My husband ate half of the fried mushrooms and I ate the rest of the sampler plate! My husband also licked his plate of meat ravioli clean! Everything was delicious. My husband and I have driven past a few times and I said let's stop in there for lunch. I am so glad we did. It was not busy and the food came out right away. Perfect because I wanted Greek and he wanted Italian. I had the chicken pita sandwich with extra tzatziki. Very yummy. My husband had the meat ravioli with meat sauce, he finished his plate and then use the breadsticks sop up the sauce. Oh my goodness! We ordered from here over the weekend and then again last night we tried their pizza. It should be said we are from Chicago originally, we know pizza. Their pizza is awesome! It's a bit like NY pizza but without the dripping cascade of grease. So so good. We ate that and a repeat order of Garlic Cheese Bread, to which we are both addicted. Hubby also was raving about the Garlic Parmesan wings. Best EVER he said. One constructive: under the Cheese pizza heading it shows a pizza with olives, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Picked up food here because it was nearby our hotel. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo and it came with bread and salad on the side. The salad was good, the ranch tastes like wingstop ranch which was delicious. The pasta had good flavor no complaints! The bread was soft but needed some butter and flavor. read more

Verona is one of those spots that never fails to surpass expectations. The menu is great, Italian, American, and Greek all in one location. Small seating area but plenty of room and great service for our usual Sunday lunch group of 10+. The service is always very courteous and accommodating even for our typically large and boisterous group. If you haven't been to Verona I urge you to try it, you will be delighted that you visited and sampled. I've heard that they are moving soon to another location not far away in an adjacent shopping center. This new location will provide them with better visibility and more room. I got the steak and cheese sandwich, it's was $13. I will say it was a little overpriced for what it was. The sandwich was warm but the steak was steak-um's and the cheese wasn't all that melted. The service was good, I just felt very rushed, there were many people in there though so it's understandable. But some of the food is a little overpriced for such small portions. read more

Passing through Shelby and saw their sign that says they serve Greek and Italian foods. I was wanting Greek so decided to stop for lunch. The restaurant is in the corner of a strip mall parking lot. The outside of the restaurant looks a bit sketchy to me. The windows had that silver film to cut light into the building, so I could not see inside. That's sketchy to me, not being able to see inside, but decided not to judge a book by its cover. I walked in and saw a busy restaurant, nicely decorated. When a saw a large table of probably church ladies, I seated myself. I do say church ladies because I noticed a sign on the wall offering 10% discount with church bulletin. There were other booths with people and also customers waiting for take away food. In short time a waitress brought a menu and asked my drink order. While she was getting my water, the church ladies' food was delivered. I noticed they mostly ordered Italian. There were a couple that ordered the Philly cheese steak. Looking at the menu there are lunch specials with great prices. I think all prices were very reasonable. The waitress brought my water and a basket of free warm breadsticks with butter. I ended up ordering the Philly cheese steak with fries. It was probably the best cheese steak outside of Philly that I had ever had. The meat was finely chopped and seasoned well. The hoagie roll was soft, but substantial enough hold the juicy insides. The waitress was very friendly and attentive even though the place was pretty busy. Don't judge a book by its cover. I will return again sometime and maybe then I will try the Greek food. read more

We were staying at a hotel and wanted to get carry out and decided on this place. The food was decent, but the man (owner?) manning the register was VERY unfriendly. There was no silverware and napkins put in the bag either. Hence the three stars. I'm big on customer service and always try to be pleasant to servers, etc., but this man really was not responsive. read more

Best Pizza i have had in a long long time! Thank you Verona! Wow! I was just talking to my wife before i ordered, "why cant we find good pizza anymore?" I remember when every pizza you got seemed to be good fresh pizza but somewhere that went away in the last 20 some odd years. I have a stomach issue and have to have GOOD food or i just piddle with it. I get nauseated many times after eating something not so tasty, but the first bite i knew i had found my new fav pizza place. Believe it or not but that is a very exciting thing for me. I have lost so much weight with this issue and need more GOOD stuff to eat. The surgery i had unfortunately prevents me from vomiting, so the body protects me by a tightened ability to smell if something is not fresh.. from start to finish, nothing but good smell and taste. Third time here. We had probably the nicest/friendliest waitress we've had all year in Shelby; she joked around with our kids and made them laugh. Good, attentive server. The restaurant is fairly small and located right next door to Sumo. Nothing fancy, mostly function. The food - the pizza is good - lots of cheese and tasty crust. My eggplant parmesan sub was huge and came with crispy fries; the eggplant itself was a little greasy, but the sauce and cheese balanced it out. The kids spaghetti with meat sauce was "waterlogged" - that pasta thats been twice cooked and verging on mushy. The cheesesteak was just okay. Last visit I had a Gyro and it was great. So, basically, most the food is 3 stars with some 4 star exceptions, but the service is a solid 4. I hear good things about their wings. Gonna try them next !! read more

Just went to this restaurant for the second time. The first time was ok, food was good, service not as good. But this time it was the worst. Our waitress, when she come to take our order smelt like marijuana (Which I happen to be allergic too) my eyes started burning and watering because the smell was so strong and sinus immediately stopped up. After bringing out our appetizer, I watched our waitress blow her nose and then did not go and wash her hands. We were finished. We spoke with the manager who tried to make it right by comping our meal and remade our food made by him only and put it in a to go box. We will not be returning. So after ordering and consuming: 1/2 a gyro platter A couple fried mushrooms And some Pita bread I spent the last 4 hours violently hurling (which I considered posting a picture of my vomit filled toilet, but ultimately opted not to). And now have the most hideous stenches are escaping from my ass!!! My stomach feels better but holy jesus was I excruciatingly nauseous about 40 minutes after I finished eating. Too bad because initially it actually tasted decent. Not worth the $20 or the 25 minute drive but decent. This was my first and only meal of the day so I know it was this. Friendly wait staff, wonderfully rich pizzas and pasta. The stuffed crust pizza is the most meaty, cheesy thing you've ever put in your mouth. The wings used to be the best around, but the sauce has changed over the years. The last time we got wings they were, well... damp. The sauce is no longer tangy and clove-flavored, but is now thin and unimpressive. This used to be one of my favorite places, but the sauce change has left me underwhelmed these days. read more

I've had a few Italian dishes at Verona and they've all been really good, but what I tend to get hungry for is their gyro platter. Great Greek salad and dressing with great gyro meat. The bread they bring to the table is quite delicious as well, especially with the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese they leave at the table for you to use as you please. Everyone has always been super nice here, too. It's a little cramped but it seems to be working just fine for them. Pretty fast at lunch, too. read more
