Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed again. My pedicure felt rushed, and the polish was applied too thickly, leaving it looking lumpy rather than smooth. During the appointment, the technician also left to work on another client without explaining what was happening, which made the experience feel impersonal. My manicure was better--I appreciated that the polish was applied thinly, which is the look I prefer. However, some of the polish ended up on the skin around my nails. I chose a very light color, so I understand it may have been difficult to see, but it's still something I would expect to be cleaned up. If I got the actual manicure I made an appointment for this would be 5 stars. They got me in when the other location couldn't. I requested a Milk & Honey manicure with acrylics. My acrylics were done quickly and beautifully, minus one nail I think is a little crooked and had too much of the side taken off. Otherwise, the shape is amazing. I've never had coffin shape before and this will be my go to shape! I was given a paraffin dip and that was it. No massage, no lotion, no removal of the paraffin dip oils. My cuticles were barely cut back and it was done while they were dry. This is the second time I've gone to this location and asked for a specific manicure and it wasn't done. I recently moved to Belmont and was excited to try this place. I made an appointment for a manicure, pedicure, and eyebrow wax. The front desk person is friendly and quick with booking. However, they didn't ask me about any specifics like what kind of mani/pedi I wanted. Their website has a lot of different services and packages but I didn't see any of that info in-store. I enjoyed my pedicure. My nail tech was a little rough with my cuticles but it was okay. I picked out a gel color for my finger nails and wanted to do regular polish on my toes. I thought about trying to match them but decided I wanted white toes and pink fingers. I told her I wanted white but she kept kept prompting me about matching colors, so I said sure. Later, I realized she picked a totally different shade of pink than my fingers. Toward the end of my pedicure, someone came to start on my nails. I was happy with the shape she gave me. Before she started painting the color, I asked if she'd do some kind of white flower design on my ring fingers and she said yes. She walked away and came back with a bright neon pink and told me that she thought it was the best color to help it stand out. I was skeptical about it but said okay because I assume she had something specific in mind. I was really hoping to get something more elegant than what she produced. I asked her "is that it?", and she said said yes. I didn't know what to say so I didn't say anything. I totally regret asking her for the design. She didn't file my nails after they dried and I wish she had because there was these little sharp pieces on the edges of some of my nails. Finally, I'm invited to go to the waxing room for my brows. The wax tech did the waxing very quickly and didn't do ANY plucking. She also didn't offer a mirror for me the look. When I got back to my car to look closer at my brows, I see that there was a lot that should've been plucked post wax. She also did not clean up all the wax off my face. My nails were reasonably priced ($40 for gel mani and $40 for pedi) but my brow wax was $20!!!! Twenty dollars for a 60-second wax and no care to plucking or doing a thorough job. The salon itself is very big and clean and pretty. The massage chairs were nice. I will probably give this salon another chance, but I will be more upfront/assertive about what I want. read more

I went to Bella Nails for gel manicure after moving out of the city where I had an amazing nail tech so I have fair expectations of having my nails neatly shaped, paint color with clean lines and no paint on my fingers and cuticles and consistently color that is not splotchy. I unfortunately got super uneven, splotchy color job. I had to have her put a 4th coat of nail polish - imagine with three it looks like a white and nude tie dye job. There were plenty of areas missing polish. The nail shape I wanted was round. I got some square. Some round. Overall just a very sloppy job; I'm not sure the nail tech knew what a "good" job looked like which is worrisome. I won't be back... but if I did I heard Trina is the only one to go to. read more

The woman doing my nails was a bit rude and seemed like she wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. They also seated me right after another customer without cleaning it, which was a bit weird to me. I've been going here for years, and no other place compares in regards to quality, hygiene, and customer service. Considering the level of care and attention they provide, they are reasonably priced. Currently, my mom and I go to Bella's every couple of weeks for pedicures and dip treatments. On numerous occasions (if not almost every appointment), the owner has gone out of his way to match colors, help the staff, and ensure customers are comfortable and content. Additionally, the staff will offer personalized suggestions and tips based on your preferences and needs. I highly recommend Bella Nails for all your nail and waxing needs. I haven't tried any of their other services, but I'm sure they will exceed any and all expectations! I have been coming here for years, and normally never have a huge problem but the job is never amazing. I typically get dip nails and gel pedicures, but this time I decided to try GelX. The next day, I was walking around at my school's formal and my thumbnail just cracked off. My nails were not properly prepared and the glue was not applied properly. The next day, my other thumbnail came off. Luckily, the front desk woman was very nice and two other technicians were able to fix them, but it was irritating that I had to be back again and waste time fixing something that should have been done the first time. Two days after these two nails are fixed, my middle finger nail falls off! Keep in mind, this was not a result of aggressively moving my hands or doing things in ways that would cause nails to crack off. I am usually a pretty careful person when it comes to having tips on, so this is not a normal thing. Never coming back here for GelX again, and will likely be wary about coming back here for dip. Would probably rather go to an actual technician for better quality, cleanliness, and overall job!! Super annoying to have to go back twice, and I just gave up on having to come back to get my middle nail fixed because I didn't have time. read more

I just moved to Belmont and was really happy to find this place is open for business. I've been here twice now and have had really good mani / pedi's. I got a gel mani two weeks ago and it's still going strong. I read a lot of the reviews for this place and just wanted to add my experience. I don't go to the nail salon looking to chat with anyone or make new friends. I'm there to get pretty nails and enjoy the massage chair and feet and hand massages. I don't consider the non-verbal moments as rude. These ladies are doing their jobs by making my nails pretty. Not listening to my BS. So, therefore, if they're not super chatty or overly friendly, big deal. I leave with nice nails and a relaxed look on my face. I make appointments at least a day ahead and they're ready and waiting for me when I arrive. I also have observed there is social distancing in place, a ton of hand sanitizer, and masks being worn by all. So, they're getting my business as long as they're still open. read more

Unfortunate to say this is my first time writing a negative review but it's necessary. Not only was my finger cut and the others left swollen, but the nail shapes were completely off. There was glue residue all over my nails along with air bubbles. I went back in a week later to let them know that my fingers had healed and I just wanted them to help me fix the shape. I made it specific that I did not want the previous person to help me (you guys can understand why) I was taken care of not before telling me they didn't have time for me but the. Deciding that they did if I could make in with 15 from placing my call. The worst was that when I went in and I tried explaining the gentleman told me "yea, it looks like you just need a fill" And before leaving I was told the person who did my nails was probably not focused and just needed more practice. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Belmont but found a place in Burlingame that I love and is closer to my house. I was in the area and stopped in for a gel mani & pedi and it was truly the worst mani and pedi I've ever received. One toe's polish came off within 5 minutes because it wasn't dry. The manicure is so extremely sloppy that I could probably do a better job doing my own nails blindfolded. I called to leave a voicemail expressing my disappointment and no one returned my call. They no longer trim your cuticles, pumice your rough skin and massage your calves/feet (it's basically just rubbing lotion on your skin with no pressure). My polish also wore off in 1 day (this happened with my last 2 visits). I would consider this a premium color change service, not a pedicure service. I had a manicure in gel and a month later I refreshed it with a regular manicure. The varnish came off in pieces starting in the second day. Bella refused to redo my nails when I was available. ( only wanted to do it the day I called). Since then my nails are damaged and break easily from the scrapping and chemicals. Never again! The phone assistant is rude and aggressive. I have extremely mixed feelings about Bella Nails. I'm a regular at this location and have been coming here for years. Every time I come in, it's a very different experience. Some days, the girls seem excited to work and do an excellent job, while other days, the quality of work leaves a lot to be desired. The location is beautiful and clean. Lisa who works there is incredibly sweet. The woman who sometimes works at the front desk is also incredibly kind. I come in consistently for a wax and a gel manicure. Today's visit was just the manicure. The front desk guy had me sit at a table, and he himself started to do my nails. I asked how much it would be at the end, and he told me $30. As he was working on my nails, he answered the phone, to which I heard "gel nails? And to remove the polish too? That'll be $32". Okay. Weird. A girl came to finish my nails, and admittedly she did a really good job (though she went to town on my cuticles!). I got to the front desk and the guy said "that'll be $40". I'm so anti confrontational that I didn't say anything, though making minimum wage, $10 is a big deal. I've come in here many times for my nails. Every gel polish manicure is anywhere from $30-45, never consistent in pricing. I get the sense the front desk guy makes this stuff up half the time. The waxing is inconsistent. Some days they leave wax and hairs on my face, while other days the waxing job is amazing. Not every girl who waxes follows the same waxing protocol, either. Some prep your skin, while others just get straight to it. A few times my family and I have come for a girl's day off and all get pedicures together. A few others I know have mentioned to me that they feel that the treatment from the man at the front desk is very inconsistent. The "prettier" you are, the more courteous he is towards you, offering water and such. I still plan on coming here. The thing i find most frustrating is that they don't have as many staff here so it is tough to walk-in or set up a last minute appointment. I have never had an issue setting up a same day appointment at San Mateo, however, the Belmont location is walking distance for me so that space would be preferred. I agree with other reviewers - the service is very hit or miss when you can actually grab a chair here. We have had the WORST experience with Bella Nails. We purchased a 200 dollar gift certificate for our 90 year old grandmother on October 30, 2020 and she misplaced it. We called Bella Nails to notify them and said she cannot redeem it unless gift certificate is found. I have owned a business for many years and we always kept a log of purchased gift certificates understanding that many misplace the physical card. We went in to show proof of our purchase and also know that she has not been because we have to drive her. We are so disappointed and amazed At the lack of understanding and service.
