We did not have an appointment and it happened to be Boxing Day when we visited. We were welcomed in and explained to how to start choosing dresses. We were given clips that we placed on dresses we liked. At this point I wasn't fixed on what look I was going for. We selected A LOT of dresses that Sarah (the sales consultant) brought over to the dressing rooms and helped me try on. I will be honest, I was very indecisive to begin with and actually wasn't looking to buy that day. Sarah could tell I wasn't loving anything yet, and I tried on a dress that I liked and described to her how I thought it should look. She told me she had the perfect dress, and it turns out she was right. The dress she brought over was almost perfect. I could tell my mom and sister weren't totally sold and I asked if there was a belt. She brought one over and we all lit up. That was my wedding dress. At this location (I have been to the Toronto one as well for bridesmaids dresses) they have a red carpet runway with cameras so that you can see how you look from the front and behind as you go down the aisle. This was a pretty cool feature that I found unique to the Hamilton location. For alterations I was told to come in November as my wedding was the beginning of January. I made the appointment and came in with my dress. I was a little wary as they told me to come back to try my dress on less than a week before my wedding (I was seriously scared). Well there was no need. I went in for my appointment and the dress fit perfectly. The belt was hand sewn on and I wasn't happy with the position, but the seamstress fixed it on the spot and I took it home. I also must say that the staff I worked with were very kind and were good at remembering people (I was told I was remembered because if my shoes). I also was never pressured to go outside of my price point. I wish there was a better payment tracking method as on the alteration payment sheet it wasn't clear if we had paid in full or just half to begin with (as we were given the option). Everyone at the wedding loved my dress. My family loved my dress. My husband loved my dress. And I loved my dress.

The first time I made my appointment at P&L, I arrived and was greeted by our consultant for the day. I love the cozy, boutique atmosphere at P&L. It feels very intimate and home-like. I had already been to a few other wedding dress boutiques so I had a slight idea of what I was looking for. I had my entourage of my best friend, cousin and my mom with me. We told our consultant what I was looking for and she walked around picking out a few dresses she thought would fit. Now - I have to say that she picked a few I really did not like, but she insisted I try. I was honestly so surprised at how she knew better than even I knew what I wanted! The ones I picked were not so great, and the ones she picked all looked fabulous! I ended up falling for one that was TOTALLY different than what I was envisioning - and I never would have tried it on if my consultant did not insist! She was so knowledgeable about the designers, fabrics, accessories and what can be customized/added/changed about the dresses. We were all so impressed! I didn't end up buying on my first round, but I did make another appointment to try that one dress on again and ended up purchasing it! I also love that the designer is Canadian (Mikaella by Paloma Blanca!) The customer service is so fantastic, and this was the one shop where the consultants are so knowledgeable about the dresses and were able to tell me so much about each dress! This was one shop that did not rush me out after my 1 hour was closing in - most bridal boutiques try to get you in and out as quickly as they can to be able to fit in more appointments...not P&L - they actually book an hour and 1/2 because they know 1 hour is not usually enough time and they don't want to rush the bride! Prices also cannot be beat - I came across many dresses that I had seen in other boutiques and P&L by far had the best pricing and was willing to work within my budget. I originally went to Promises and Lace to try on a Pronovias dress that I was interested in. Lynn and I spoke several times over the phone and she was very helpful, even going so far as to check whether or not they would be able to order in a new one for me before I trekked out to Burlington. I arrived early for my apt. and had a lovely wait, chatting with some of the other customers - the atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was extremely friendly. Carol helped with my fitting, we started with the dress I was interested in, it was nice but not wow, she pulled off another similar dress, it was better then the first one but a bit to ferry princess for my taste. So we went through the racks together (she knew every dress, where it was and what it was like) - I could see the wheels spinning as she jumped to the other side of the room and handed me a dress from a different designer. It was fantastic, I wont go into the details but I had my - ahhh - moment :) Better still it was by a Canadian designer and they could order me a new one in time for the wedding. The service I received was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and not pushy. Everything you want when shopping. I will be going back to order the dress and do the fittings. I highly recommend this place it was totally worth the drive from Toronto.

After dealing with very rude…read morestaff through out the whole process, I picked up my dress alterations were not completed properly, they left two HOLES in my dress (which had been noticed prior to, and I had been assured they would be fixed). The dress was also sewn incorrectly causing the fabric to bunch. I tried emailing them privately to discuss the matter and they did not reply, I also tried leaving a google review which included photos but they had the review removed. Do not waste your time or money here, go literally anywhere else.

When you order your dress you have the option to pay for half of your dress or pay for the whole dress up front. I had no issue with paying for the dress up front but the lady processing the order responded to me by saying "You don't want to do that. You never know, financial situations might change." I found this to be very rude, judgemental, and unprofessional. Once my dress arrived it did not fit. It was far too tight. It was able to do up but I could barely move in it and it was clearly at least a size too small. I had not gained a single pound since they had measured me so it was clear they made a mistake in what size they ordered for me. Rather than being apologetic or owning up to their mistake they opted to take my measurements again so that they could blame me. When they realized my measurements hadn't changed they didn't do anything or take responsibility for their mistake. When it came time for my first fitting the seamstress "figured" that if she let out the dress the tiniest bit by removing my pockets it would fix the issue. Anyone could clearly see that the dress needed to be let out much more than that. This day they also re-took my measurements and were continuously confused as to why the dress doesn't fit since my measures did not change. One of the staff members showed me their sizing sheet and since I measured smaller on top but was in between on my hips they decided to order smaller. If they had just spoken to me I would have asked them to order bigger. Yet again they did not take responsibility for their mistake. When it came time to make the appointment for my second fitting, myself and the bride stood there as the staff member wrote down my appointment in the book. The other bridesmaids had their fitting a few days later and then wanted to book their next appointment for the same day as mine. They didn't even have my fitting appointment in their book. I had to call and re-book it and wouldn't have even known if the other bridesmaids didn't let me know. I have no idea how they no longer had my appointment in the book as I saw them write it down. So after having to make an extra trip, all the way from London no less, the dress was still too tight after the pocket removal so this is when it occurred to them that they needed to add an extra panel into the lining. So finally after they added the extra panel the dress fit. A couple of the staff asked why they did that and I explained to them that it was because they ordered the wrong size and the staff members didn't believe me. Finally, they did their pinning and measuring to take up the length and take in the busy the tiniest bit. The dress was slated to be ready the Wednesday before the wedding. As I was coming from out of town, I called the store to ask if I could come a little bit earlier than my scheduled appointment, especially since it was supposed to be a quick final fitting. I could barely even get a sentence out because the woman who answered the phone kept cutting me off. Anyways, they allowed me to come early for my final fitting. I put the dress on and it was still at least 2 inches too long - even though it was supposed to be ready and they had already measured for length. I asked the seamstress why it was so long and she responded with "I don't know." That was it - yet again no apology or acceptance of responsibility. I had to go and pick up my dress the day before the wedding and was charged an extra fee for the fabric they needed to use for the extra panel of the lining. I am completely disappointed in their customer service and in their tailoring staff, who clearly do not know how to correctly measure, size, order, and alter a dress. Like I said, to top it all off the staff were rude, arrogant and non-apologetic. If this is how they treat their clients I have no idea how they are still in business. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

I'm so glad it did because I had no idea there was this consignment store here for the past 35 years!! It's changed owners over a decade ago but it's still family run and super friendly. Selections are a good range, and most people shopping at the time successfully found goodies. Prices will depend on the brand and quality. Whatever it is, you'll be paying much better than usual marked up retail prices. Just my luck they were hosting an additional sale and I managed to find a few pieces. I will need to get some alterations but I'm super thrilled to have found some great stuff for a good price. The pieces are kept well, good quality, and they have about 3 change rooms available so you can actually try the stuff on. They've got all sorts of clothing from casual to business wear to semi formal and formal. You can find all sorts of styles too. There's a huge section for formal dresses at the back half and I recall she mentioned they have another location that specially has bridal wear. They also have some jewelry and shoes. I definitely look forward to coming back again soon and hope more people discover them so they can stay in business for a long time to come. The staff here are incredibly friendly and so is the owner! They're not pushy about the sale and seem only concerned about making sure you have a great time shopping. Love the vibes!
