After reading all the reviews about Taylor's, I decided to make the trek to Elmira. I brought my…read morefiance with me and the associates were fairly surprised (they tend to encounter brides who go shopping with their all-female bridal party) but they were good natured about it. Dresses are in excellent condition and there is a huge selection. Before touching the dresses, we had to wipe our hands with disposable baby wipes so we don't dirty up the dresses. Taylor's carried dresses from quite a few different designers. There was a good mixture of me picking out a few dresses and the associate picking out ones similar to what I liked. I had over 10 dresses to try on and the associate, Mary-Jo was extremely patient and helpful. She even provided tips for the wedding day as she was lacing up the corset back in the fitting room! Prices were on the dresses ($1000-$3000) and they store/steam the dress before you take it home. The service was absolutely phenomenal and of all 15 different boutiques I visited across the GTA, this one was aobsulutely the best. I found my dress here, although I didn't buy it. I needed my mom and sister to see it before I bought it and the location was too far from the GTA. I would definitely recommend Taylor's to any bride.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the dress for me there but I had such an amazing experience all in all. The staff was all so helpful and knowledgeable about the designers they carry and how things will fit each bride and most importantly I would say I told them my budget and they really encouraged me to stay under it which I thought was extremely professional and very nice. They assured me that we could find something for me within my price range. Honestly, I had been to every other bridal shop in town so after having such a wonderful experience at Taylors I thought maybe I would find my gown out of town and come back and order it here but unfortunately the gown I chose was a Vera Wang and is only available at Davids Bridal. I do still have every intention of coming back to Taylors for all my accessories. This really is a great location with friendly, knowledgeable staff and an AMAZING selection. I would highly recommend coming here to find the gown of your dreams.

From the start, the staff was extremely pushy. I felt pressured to make a purchase during my initial visit, which made me leave. I eventually returned, tried on some more gowns, and decided on one to purchase. When I came to pick up my gown, things got even worse. I brought my young daughter with me in a stroller to keep her safely contained and respectful of the gowns. Despite this effort, the staff was rude and refused to allow the stroller in the bridal area. They told me to leave my daughter at the front of the store while I went to the back alone--not happening. I was shocked. I understand wanting to keep the store clean, and I had ensured the stroller was clean too. What's upsetting is that instead of politely offering an alternative, they were confrontational and dismissive. Only when I said I would try on the dress at home did they offer to let me use a dressing room on the other side of the store. That solution should have been the first, respectful suggestion--not a last resort. On top of that, when I made the final payment, I noticed I had been overcharged by nearly $100. The store claimed the charge was for "additional lace" I supposedly requested--something I never asked for and was not informed about. At this shop, customers are required to sign the original invoice and purchase request. If I had agreed to any additional purchase, it would have been noted there. It wasn't. They claimed they sent me a separate invoice for this extra charge, but I never received anything until I asked about it during my phone call. Only then did they forward it. When I asked for a refund for the unauthorized charge, they said it would only happen if I returned the lace--completely unreasonable since I don't live in town. To make matters worse, the manager got on the phone and began yelling at me. Her tone was aggressive, completely unprofessional, and made me feel incredibly disrespected. This shop seems far more focused on making sales than treating customers with honesty, professionalism, or basic courtesy. What should have been a joyful and memorable part of wedding planning became a source of stress and regret. I would not recommend this bridal shop to any bride.

I am a plus size bride, wearing 18/20 street size. I stated this on the forum when booking my appointment and when the employee asked upon entrance. Although sizing had been discussed, a lot of the dresses I was handed in the change room were sizes 10-14 and I was not able to try them on. Either they wouldn't fit over my hips, or my arms wouldn't fit in armhole with the strap, or my arm just wouldn't fit into the sleeve. Trying to squeeze into a dress that's half your size in a dark changing room without assistance is not a good start. At one point I told the employee that one of the dresses I wasn't able to pull up, and she seemed surprise "oh really? Is the zipper undone all the way", I said I would double check, but yes it was undone all the way. I just don't think the size 10 dress was ready for my size 20 hips. Another dress was sleeveless but had a high illusion neckline and I was excited to try on, however my upper arms were not fitting into the arm holes as it was a size 14 and my upper arms are larger. I told the employee this from the dark room behind the curtain and her response was simply "how about we move to the next one then". Which was sad because I thought this one would look so good if only in a better size. At this point I was starting to feel that same dreaded feeling I use to get when trying to buy name brand clothes in middle school. Hadn't felt that shame in a decade. I stuck my head out and asked if they had any plus size dresses, as these tags seemed to be 10-12 or 14 and I am usually about a 20. She pointed to the rack we got the 14 from and said that was the plus size rack. When I was able to get my body into a dress it was still a size 16, the neckline area never fit and it was nearly impossible to "use my imagination on". Since the detailing didn't line up and it was making indents. There was one dress I did like. However it was a zipper back and I was told the "zipper is slippery" so it couldn't be done up. I don't know much about how bridal shops use dress clips but she didn't use any and barely did anything. She held the open back together for about 30 seconds as I looked in the mirror then walked away. The dress had sparkly spaghetti straps that were very long so they dropped and curved a bit. My mom was trying to get a photo so I could look at it later but as the employee wasn't doing much to make the dresses look as they would if they fit I was trying to pull the straps at the back so it would appear tighter and then holding my arms down so the bodice wouldn't fly open. Ugh I honestly felt like crying when I was in the dark changing room, I felt lost. I was barely getting any assistance. She wasn't helping the dresses look as they would once fitted, I felt helpless. Not being able to fit into dresses and not having any dresses my size even when My size had obviously been discussed made my confidence drop and made me feel ugly and gross. Which is definitely not what a wedding gown shop should do.

After looking through many shops and dress options, I heard about The Brides' Project through a…read morefriend and decided to check out their website. I loved the idea of a wedding dress having a second grand night, and with all profits going to charity it made it even better! I met with Emily and she was amazing. I had originally selected a few options to try on, but once I started telling her what I liked and didn't like she was able to provide me with options that were more suited to my taste. She ended up bringing a dress that wasn't even on the website yet and I fell in love immediately. It fit me so perfectly that I ended up only needing to get it shortened. Throughout the whole process I kept debating about the dress and put it on hold actually, but in the end I followed my gut and went with the most beautiful dress I tried on ever. Emily was such a rockstar through it all and really listened to me and my vision for the day even when I wasn't sure of what I wanted. She is like a fairy Godmother! I cannot recommend this place enough - one thing to note is that you do need to make an appointment. When I was there the first time, there was even someone from the States who came all the way to this store to find their dream dress (which they did). If you have been thinking of checking this place out, please do!

I love the concept of this not-for-profit shop and it makes total sense to me as wedding dress…read moreprices are crazy, especially considering that you only wear it for a few hours! There is also so much waste created by the whole wedding industry/machine, so it's nice to try and find more sustainable options when possible. There are lots of online options for second hand wedding dresses, but it's really nice to be able to try things on in person. Sample sales are another great way to save $$$ on the dress, but being a petite person, most sample sales I came across were size 8-12 and much too big for me (alterations can only do so much). The prices are ridiculously low! Average dresses are around $600 I was told. I did notice a special rack of higher end dresses on the main floor, but the vast majority of the dresses were under $1000. With that in mind, the selection could be hit or miss, it really depends on what types of dresses have been recently donated. I went once and did not find the dress, but I would totally go back in a few months and try my luck again if I can't find something elsewhere. Staff told me that the fall is a good time to visit, as a lot of brides donate their dresses after their summer weddings. The volunteers working here are friendly and pretty hands off, which actually suited me well as I like to try things on in peace. I liked being allowed to just peruse the racks at my leisure. Appointments are a must and it was only me and one other bride there on a Saturday morning. Luckily, she was a different size from me so we were in completely different rooms. There are no formal fitting rooms. You are in one of the rooms full of dresses and can just close the door and try on things there. My only complaint is that there is a mirror but it is not completely full length and there's no platform thing, so it may be hard to see all the details of the dress's hem. I saw a lot of beautiful gowns from big designers I came across in my research like Vera Wang, Maggie Sottero, Mori Lee, Pronovias, Catherine Langlois, Watters etc. Condition of the dresses was mostly okay, but some had some wear and tear or dirt on the bottom, so factor in dry cleaning costs for sure. However, there were some brand new dresses - donated from local bridal boutiques, so if one of them suits you, you could really luck out! Prices and brands are clearly marked. There's also a little room of accessories and I found some good deals there. Lots of wedding shoes for only $25 (designer shoes like the popular Bagdley Mishka jeweled ones were $75, a total steal!), hair accessories, robes (who really wears those white "bride" robes more than once?), and belts. There is also an entire room of veils upstairs. Online booking is easy. They email you with instructions (bring indoor shoes to wear, don't wear makeup, etc.). I recommend checking this place out! I plan to donate my dress here after my wedding.
