Could have been the wine but we ended up after the meal, extending our stay at the resort to go another round.

The eggs they use have deep orange yolks that give all the egg dishes a nice color. The diner is on Government & Courtney upstairs of the Burger King.

The atmosphere was alright with dimmer lighting than other similar places which was nice for the mood, and the place was surprisingly louder than expected for the little people that were there. The waitress we had was friendly and nice, but also came by frequently to ask if we were done looking at the menu, with our food, wanting the bill. It felt very rushed despite there not being many other customers in the area. We were only in the restaurant for about 45 minutes today. The food was mediocre. I had the fried chicken and waffles, which looked good but tasted generic. The fried chicken was a bit dry and just tasted like it was seasoned with salt and pepper and that's about it. The waffle tasted like something anyone could make at home. My friend had the Caesar salad, which was drenched in sauce but otherwise looked alright. Overall, the food is on the pricier side, relative to the portion size being served. Expect to spend at least $30 to be full, not including drinks and dessert.

This is a must visit in Victoria!…read more We had the best brunch here today. The James Bay location was the best one for us today. When we arrived around 9:45 on a Wednesday, it was packed and there was a line outside. We stood in line and waited to be added to the list. They came out with coffee for everyone in line. Free coffee to help wake us up while we waited in line. I think we made it about 15 minutes. When our turn was up, they took us to the patio around the corner. It's a very welcoming spot with a lovely mural. We ordered the poutine, veggie hash, Mexican connection eggs Benny, and the Burt Reynolds sandwich. Everything was delicious! Get the poutine, especially if you're from an area that doesn't offer it. We're from SF Bay Area and we don't see poutine often in our parts. The only downside of the patio dining were the wasps. They kept flying about our table and biting (better than stinging) me. If you want to avoid that, ask for a table inside. It may mean that you may have to wait longer.

The taste of the pancakes weren't bad, but I've truly never experienced pancakes with that sort of texture, so it was just a bit odd. Also, there was not nearly enough cream cheese frosting or cinnamon on the pancakes to warrant a comparison to a cinnamon bun! My husband got the Moroccan chicken benny -- sounded like it tasted good, but that it didn't taste Moroccan at all. He said it was missing spices he'd associate with that region and instead reminded him more of Hawaiian flavors because of the sweetness and the pineapples. I liked the breakfast potatoes and my husband didn't ("too bland") -- he's right; they would have been better if there was any seasoning on them (even just salt), but I liked that the were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
