Have tried this restaurant at the Westin again today after a few years of staying away from it, and yes I know it's a tourist place so can't expect greatness all tho there are good quality restaurants in tourist hotels out there. if I could give it a zero star I would, first of $6 for a coffee that is bitter and barely warm should have made me run, Still I stayed and ordered the salmon Benedict , I have to say it was not to bad on the taste side, my wife had an avocado toast and that is were it went down hill fast, the bread was several days old and over soaked in balsamic vinegar to revive, it I guess? The bread was not even toasted, and sooo chewy due to the vinegar , it was simply not something you would or could eat , Take a sip of vinegar out of the bottle would have been the same thing, I do not mind paying for quality , but this was simply GARBAGE. Yes o told the server to alert the chef of the quality, nothing I guess chef does not care, and yes for those that wonder I'm a chef baker myself and know what I'm talking about . Had christmas eve dinner at the westin bear mountain. They offered a very decent seafood buffet Even though tip of 18 percent was included the service was phenomenal. Waters constantly refilled. Plates exchanged as soon as we left the table to go back to the buffet. Will definitely come back again to try their regular menu read more

The atmosphere is great...... but nothing about it says Italian.... This is in the rear of the Westin Bear Valley resort. It is one of a few sit down options you have without leaving the resort. Although I had such high expectations of this place... Nothing we had was memorable or even something I would order again. I'm not one to salt everything, but their lack of seasoning on almost every dish was really noticeable Panche is another restaurant you have to walk through Bella Montaga to get to. They have excellent reviews and although I'm not certain, it wouldn't surprise me if they shared the same kitchen. We never did get a chance to try Panche... It has great reviews but was booked solid for company parties during our visit. It is surprising that a place like Bella Montagna kicks out such average food and under seasoned has such a close relationship with Panche that from what I read kicks out great dishes. I wouldn't avoid Bella Montagna... I just wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

I could talk about how the waitress came to the table once in the hour we were there. Or how I had to get up and refill my own water. But honestly, I think the issue really begins with poor leadership. There seemed to be 2 wait staff for the Christmas lunch. Both were so far in the weeds, they could barely function. But the issue really seems to lie with the lack of staffing. Additionally, the two managers present seemed to be barely interested in interacting with customers. Both were more focused on cleaning glasses and stacking plates. Neither seemed concerned with bussing any of the many dirty plates sitting on and behind the bar and on the many tables. Neither seemed interested in anything as simple as refilling water glasses. Granted, I'm not from Victoria. So the odds of me ever going back are slim But if you are reading this with a mind towards visiting, I urge you to stay far far away from this place. read more

A near honeymoon experience here last night. Sommelier was engaged with pairing for each course. Best pairings we have yet tried in restaurants. The food was inspired, fresh, with local ingredients that seemed to come direct from the garden. Some of the best food we have had in Canada or Europe and Japan. Could have been the wine but we ended up after the meal, extending our stay at the resort to go another round. Good job by the front and back of the house. Nice evening! We will be back. read more

For a supposedly serious restaurant promising fine dining I was seriously disappointed. The food was pretty good and the service was very good but it should have been since we were the only ones there at 7:30 on Friday evening. That is, other than the 40 odd film extras and roadies that were using the dining room as as a shortcut to either the washrooms or the coffee tent in the parking lot. It's hard to appreciate a meal when you might as well be eating on the sidewalk. read more

The service was not very good as we barely saw out waitress and it took two hours for the meal to come. I started with the prawns which were ok then I had the filet which took forever but was really tender and tasty. It came with lobster mash which were really good to. But the steak was only a 6 ounce and i normally order 12 ounces when its available. Since it took two hours for the meal to arrive the restaurant comped which did help. read more

Had supper there with friends. Had the "family table" and the rest of the group had various dishes. All were great, hot and served well. Beverages were great and staff was friendly and engaged. Well done, and I would certainly return. The bar food in the Masters lounge is also great. A real hidden gem. read more

Just had an epic Thanksgiving meal at Bella. One of my best restaurant meals ever! Three courses, each one better than the last. They called it a tasting but all of us were totally if not over fed (its Thanksgiving-you are supposed to be stuffed right!). The soup was served a little strangely. Bowl was placed in front with what looked like a super small salad in the middle. The server then added the soup. So incredibly tasty not to mention memorable! The main course had light and dark meat, the best mashed potatoes ever, perfectly cooked veggies and fantastic gravy. We finished it off with a great cheesecake. Service was a little slow but given the number of customers on a holiday night was better than expected and our server always had a smile and an offer to help or provide anything we needed. The appetizers were great and so was the pasta. But I ordered a ling cod and mushroom dish and the dish had about 2 mushrooms and a runny flavourless risotto. It seemed like they hadn't made the dish in a while and realized they didn't have all the ingredients they needed to complete it. So it came with an unadvertised veggie medley, the dish overall was messy and the flavours didn't mix well and the fish was over cooked. It was not worth the money. The patio is awesome, but warning there are no blankets and they have a solid 2 working heaters so bring a jacket. Go to the bar next door instead. read more

Just had dinner and the food was wonderful. Our server, Jay brought me a sample of wine made in Okanagan, BC which I was not familiar with. It was a Chardonnay which was crisp and fruity. I ordered it. We decided on our meals and then he brought out some focaccia bread which he said the chef makes daily. It was outstanding, soft and chewy, and he served it with olive oil and a very fine quality balsamic vinegar. Since we had eaten a big lunch at Butchardt Gardens dining room, we really weren't ready for a big meal so I had the Chicken Cobb Salad and my hubby had a Beef dip sandwich with Caesar salad. Everything was fresh and the quality of ingredients very high. We are coming tomorrow for their regular dinner menu! Eat here. If you come, ask for Jay, he's the best! read more

Tried dining here before a spa treatment at Bear Mountain, and was extremely disappointed with the service and food. Ended up going to find a waitress after 10 minutes waiting, and there were several gossiping in the prep area! The food was overpriced and mediocre. Will not be returning. read more

Absolutely worst experience for a restaurant of this caliber. Appetizers took 30 mins to come out, entrees took another 40 mins. When they did they were tiny and over priced. For the entree I ordered the 12oz ribeye rare and my wife ordered the pasta. The pasta was freezing cold and the ribeye was well done. The server actually said these words.."I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to cut into your steak for you". I'm a member of this golf club and will NEVER eat there again. read more
