Fish & Chips

On the waterfront in Victoria featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with stellar views of the inner harbor. We sat outside on an overcast day with cool winds, but overhead heaters kept us cozy. When a few rain drops popped, well our server popped the umbrella to keep us dry. We met up with a friend. Food was delish - bacon wrapped prawns, fish tacos, fish & chips and flatbread pizza. Beer and cocktails made for a great place to meet and eat. Easy to get to by water taxi if you do not want to drive it. But we took Galloping Goose trail by bike to the patio day. The ride and Glo experience made the day flow! Let's Go!

Great restaurant with a fantastic vibe and atmosphere! The food is extremely fresh and well put together. My only complaint with this restaurant is that the service could be a bit better. Our drinks were made incorrectly and it took a while for them to remake them. Overall a solid spot for a date night or fancier meal.

Came here as it was recommended as one of the top 10 happy hour places in Victoria. Pros- food was great, atmosphere inside is understated elegance chic, pricing average but not excellent for a happy hour. Flatbread with spread cheapest at $7 most items 13-15 for happy hour bites. Cons- paying for parking that also only allows you to pay for one hour at a time. Pricing not great for value. Off the beaten path If you are a visitor. Not within walking distance. Overall a decent place if in the area but nothing I would go out of my way for a second time. The decor is great, the food tasted good. One side view is of the water way, the other side overlooks a huge scrap metal junk yard.

This was to be my big birthday dinner, but I wouldn't go back. I had only been here once before and it was many years ago. I decided to book the three of us in for my big day's dinner. We were seated and waited what seemed like a long time for our drinks - and while waiting the hostess called me from the front asking if I was still bringing my party to the restaurant, to which I responded 'I'm sitting behind you waiting for my wine!' I had mentioned it was my birthday when I reserved, but only the hostess said anything. When the wine finally arrived, the server brought the wrong bottle. I think she would benefit from having some training because she had no idea how to pour a taste for one of us or how to replenish our glasses throughout the meal. Our meals were mediocre - although they were priced high octane. The fish and chips was good, but my beet and avocado salad was extremely salty. The beets were over pickled. Our other companion said she wouldn't order her carbonara again. We shared 2 desserts- the apple brûlée was great. The 'birthday' dessert was $6 for a candle and spice cake. We laughed thinking that was a smart marketing move to have a 'birthday dessert' so no one ever has to be comped for their birthday. Truthfully, service was spotty - we waited a long time for our drinks (25 minutes) and then our meals came super quickly. Our desserts arrived slower than molasses. We were told the kitchen was slowed up at that point. The restaurant was very loud - I had so much difficulty concentrating on the conversation. I felt sorry my friend got stuck with the bill. We expected a lot more. Expensive, noisy and naive service.

Why not 5? -Steak sauce WAY TOO SALTY (but steak perfectly cooked) -dessert took 3x longer than the other courses -Tagliatelle was too creamy 4 me Otherwise the dishes were very tasty Moscow mule (cocktail) very good!

Halibut and chips, banh mi flatbread, Neapolitan flatbread, garden salad, Venice beach nonalcoholic drink, mojito

In a word: underwhelming. I heard fantastic things about this restaurant, but I found everything - the flatbreads, halibut fish and chips, salads, sliders - greasy and underseasoned. In particular, the banh mi flatbread tasted more like Mexican tacos or maybe pulled pork? Service was great but the wait for food was long, even when the restaurant was less than half full. The portions are large and prices are reasonable, I'll give them that, and the views of the waterway are beautiful.

Spanish coffee

I've been a few times and the last time was on Valentine's Day. I usually avoid restaurants on V day because they usually turn into a shit show but I have to say it was the most successful, pleasant meal I've ever had at a restaurant on Valentines . Nothing frenetic going on, it was all calm, organized and relaxing. The food is awesome and service is always great. They make a terrific Spanish coffee.

Janevca Kitchen & Lounge (2024) is one true gem of a restaurant on Vancouver Island…read more If you haven't been here, well then what are you waiting for - get here now! You can 'drop in' at 430pm & check on lounge space availability - first come first served, you know the drill. Our party of six got real lucky. Parking - pull up to the gate & it will open, then proceed to park underneath the restaurant. Street parking is available but do not park in the 'residence only parking' areas. Watch the street sign warnings or you will be towed. Lots of Miss McGillicuddys in this area that are home all day & have nothing to do but watch for strange cars & call the towing company. Upon entering Janevca, it felt like I was inside a grand English mansion from yesteryear. The lighting, artwork, wall pictures, chandeliers, statues, carpets, chairs ... I could go on but you get the picture. Now I'm not one to normally post photos of bathrooms & toilets but my gosh wow, I absolutely had to make an exception this time. Absolutely stunning bathroom - artwork etcetera - make sure you lift up the toilet seat & check it out. I hadn't used the pull chain flush toilet system in over 40 years. This is an all gender washroom, so ladies you might find it difficult to doll up in here. The stalls are private but the common sink area is open. I had some older women staring at me while I waited to wash my hands, but I think they eventually realized that it was an open washroom. Make sure to check out the wine celler downstairs - very unique. We sat in the lounge & although it was crowded, we loved the whole vibe & atmosphere. Please note that there are two separate menus for the Lounge & Main dining areas. It was neat to be able to see the cool bar layout & the kitchen staff hard at work in their area. Plus, we got to see all the dishes other people were ordering & this got us excited. Our waiter was spot on with his recommendations. We loved everything we shared & ate. Order the following items if you're in the lounge, but keep in mind that the menu does change periodically. The sourdough bread, scallop crudo, beef skewers, margherita pizza & the beet salad. For dessert don't hesitate to get the Chocolate Tuxedo Mousse. All the above = outstanding superior taste. BTW, the executive chef here is of Filipino & Jamaican heritage & raised in Vancouver. She knows what she's doing! Yelpies, this is one of the hottest restaurants on the West Coast! Make a reservation pronto!

The restaurant is in the cutest Victorian manor with a hotel above. It's incredibly cozy and I'd love to stay here some time especially with some snow outside. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. We ordered cocktails to start - I had the premium martini that I got with smoked olive brine, I asked for more brine lol I like a very dirty martini. My husband had a delicious old fashioned. For foods we went with our servers recommendations for the most part and she guided us real well. We got the scallop crudo- so fresh so delish, and the beet salad - solid portion size, the beets are beautiful and tasty and the whipped ricotta on the bottom with the nuts was a wonderful texture. For our main we shared the fresh fish which was a salmon with crispy skin and pilpil sauce. I can't even describe how good this sauce was. We got broccolini as a side and I ended up dipping my broccolini in the pilpil sauce. I could drink that sauce like chowda it was so damn good. The fish itself was cooked perfectly and the skin was crispy and seasoned. For dessert we got the sesame tuxedo mousse and it was insanely good as well. The ice cream was so flavourful and the tuxedo mousse tasted like a mars bar. We were really thrilled with this meal. It came to $260 with tip which we thought was reasonable for everything we got, the ambience and the fantastic staff! Would love to come back and actually stay at the hotel too!

We wanted to grab a beer and head back to the boat. The atmosphere is super fun. We were greeted right away and I was overwhelmed with the beer list. The server let me try a few. I don't think she heard me because it was a little loud. I ended up getting a beer I wasn't a fan of. I'm not one to send things back so I drank what I had. 1 star for the beer I had. This place has MANY drinks to try from. I didn't see a food menu. They might have one. I also didn't see a physical menu, it was scanned from the bar. Still recommend going here!

After a quick search on Yelp we settled on The Churchill so they could try several different local beers. I opted for the featured cocktail of the month Into The Wild with blackberry gin, blueberry liqueur, honey, lemon & orange bitters. I thought it was really good, smooth but potent. When visiting Canada, I thought it was mandatory to get the Poutine - Beer battered fries, squeaky cheese curds, homemade beef gravy. Very filling and did not disappoint. The rest of the family liked their choices (Nashville Hot Grilled Chicken Burgers, Pulled Jackfruit Bun) as well. We sat in a large booth instead of at the bar like most of the regulars and locals. Service was a little slow but would not keep me from coming back.
