I was amazed that the place was not packed (it was a Monday and I was later told the previous weekend they were slammed!). I got a table with a great view and ordered The Empress (their version of a gin and tonic) and the avocado and whipped feta dip - they were both wonderful! Stumbled upon this restaurant as we got off our shuttle. They have some nice tables outside with heaters. However, we were a little chilled so opted for indoor seating. So glad we did! Our server, Stephanie was really top notch. She was so friendly and provided us with great service during our lunch. We had been told to try a BC wine (since we are from California) - so we tried the McWatters Chardonnay. It did not disappoint and complemented our meal nicely. Our family went right around New Years Eve so the Christmas lights were still going at the Parliament building and around the waterfront giving off a nice view from the restaurant. We went during happy hour and my wife had a Bellini ($5) and an Expresso Martini ($10), parmesan fries ($5), and a Baja fish taco ($12). I had a Cajun chicken caesar ($22) and a Dragon Kiss Martini ($10). All prices are Canadian and very reasonably priced. We were both very happy with our service, food and drinks. read more

It was delayed from the res rod my table as the first choice I made had dairy and I can't eat that. I was surprised they didn't push my order faster to catch up. Get a booth next to the window for great views of the Empress Hotel, the Legislative Building, and the busy water taxis buzzing about the harbor. I recommend the Baja fish tacos. The basa fish is a "creamy" white fish that goes well with the aioli, avocado, and tomato. The sweet potato fries are done right, crispy and not too crispy and well-seasoned. Other dishes that my party enjoyed: sirloin steak (rated VERY good) and the portobello mushroom chicken. The sushi bowl with ahi tuna was so-so. The rice in particular is not quite the right consistency for a sushi dish. The ever hard to find double chocolate cookie also makes an appearance here. Wandering around the beautiful inner harbor of Victoria BC, we came upon Milestones. What a gorgeous setting overlooking the water and right up against Government Street. The dining room is wonderfully appointed and the menu feels sturdy and refined. Yes, I'm recognizing the menu and how it feels in the hands as it's reflective of the restaurant itself. My favorite was bloody merry with pineapple, shrimp, mozzarella and kabanos. We had a quick lunch while exploring city during our cruise stop at Victoria. Lovely island with lovely parks and scenery. Love this spot on the waterfront in downtown Victoria. It's the perfect location, especially if you arrive by ferry or float plane to the harbor--just walk right over! There's a finer dining restaurant space upstairs and downstairs, plus a beautiful outdoor patio just feet from the water with a super fun vibe, especially in the summer. The food is exceptional--it really never fails. It serves as comfort food that's better than anything you could ever make at home with a fine dining fusion twist. You must try a Bellini if you haven't before--they're the best and so refreshing in the summer. I had the pulled pork bao buns, and they were delicious. I believe the high prices of all were due to the fact that the location is waterfront. BTW, they have a posted menu at the front door that is no longer available, so be aware that you'll be seeing a different menu upon sitting. While walking around downtown, we spotted Milestones from afar. Starving, we decided to give this place a shot before heading back to the cruise ship. Upon entry, I couldn't help but notice the modern decor and view of the Inner Harbor. The day was bright and sunny, which made it perfect to eat and savor the beauty of downtown and the harbor. No apps today since we had to eat and run, so I ordered the Chimichurri sea bass. The fish was tender with the perfect sear. Chimichurri sauce was creamy and delicious, not overpowering. I was a tad disappointed that the dish had white rice instead of the quinoa and rice pilaf as listed on the menu, which was part of the reason I picked this dish. Ordered largest Rib eye, early on a Friday night, they were out? Settled for Prime Rib. I ordered a smaller, rare, and my birthday celebrating dear friend ordered the large med with surf and turf. They both came large and well done, and hers had Skewer of prawns. They fixed that but blamed server. To end the evening, they offered a free dessert, only to be disappointed again with a dry carrot cake that was suggested. I really didn't want ruin a beautiful birthday date night by complaining at every dish, but I did reply to an email that was sent to me. I explained everything as I did here, but weeks later, I have had no reply. Shame, that such a nice restaurant has such mediocre food and service, right in the heat of the Capitol city. The quinoa goat cheese and beet salad tasted like one I'd had at Earl's. If you like Earl's, it's a safe bet you'll like this place. It's pricey, just like Earl's. When I asked for the gluten free noodles they "didn't have them anymore". They were still. listed on the menu though. It was suggested I try the rice noodles but it might not be good without the gluten containing sauce or the this or the that without the sauce that makes the dish.
