This place was walking distance from our hotel which was lovely. It's like an upscale bar with booth seating and high tables. They did have regular tables too. When we got here there was no wait and we were seated right away. The food was great. I loved their truffle fries, it was super crispy. And my entree, the crispy tofu bowl was delish!!! Stopped by Victoria on a cruise. Had 2 hours here and where did we go? Cactus Club! I've heard really good things about the Cactus Club so I had to check it for myself. The place was very busy. The drinks are always great at Cactus. The food is ok, not the best ever but not the worst ever, the vegetarian options are very limited. Every time I'm here the staff are very rude. Most of them act like they'd rather be anywhere else. And they always appear upset if I don't order a drink or a starter. I understand the more we order the most they make in tips... but they can not drop the service completely after deciding they're not getting that tip boost. This place never disappoints. Been a huge cactus cafe fan since my visit to Vancouver way back in 2016 and this time in Victoria. One of the few spots that serves food until midnight on the island. Gt their chipotle chicken tacos and steam frites from their haappy hour menu and both the dishes were amazing. For drinks we got their peach bellini & local amber lager - perfect drink on a hot summer night. After this for dessert try their choco lava cake which is phenomenal with their vanilla ice cream! Service was great and they have a nice ambience. Ample seating in their dining room or bar. Always fun to be back to Cactus cafe chain anywhere in Canada. Highly recommend. read more

Shaq from the Arcteryx store down the street recommended this place to us, and we were NOT disappointed! The food was delicious, came piping hot and service was great. We ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken breast with potato gnocchi, mushroom and truffle sauce was just incredible. I got the Med Bowl + chicken shawarma and it was so good! A very unique dish that I contemplated at first because I didn't want anything boring and salad-like. The dish was far from boring! Very unique flavors especially the pink hummus (?) that had a hint of coconut in it. The falafel was tasty & had some type of crunch to it. Sat outside on the patio which is small and on a busy city junction....not something i usually like but they have it nicely set up and so i felt we were nicely separated from the bustle. Date night at Cactus Club Cafe was amazing, can't wait to come back again. This was probably the best meal I had in Victoria during my last trip there. This place is quite cute and casual. It reminded me a lot of Earl's, which I also adore. Similar menus and ambiance. Great Happy Hour, too. When I'm in Victoria, the first place I go for lunch is the Cactus Club. The staff is always friendly and the food is so good. My favorite is the Pork Lettuce Wraps. They also offer edamame which is a bonus in my book and the Thai Chicken Wings are not overly sweet. The wine list is fun with a good variety of BC wines and you can get wines by the glass in either 6 or 9 ounce pours. I like the 9 ounce because they pour the 6 in the glass and give you the cute little carafe of 3 on the side. My favorite part of the wine section is the bottom of the reds where they have interesting blends that you've likely never heard of, but will amaze and delight you. I had one - Rockpile - that was a blend of 9 different reds - bold and really heavy. LOVED IT! Of course, at $18 per glass it better be good. Truly one of my favorite places to go for a good meal or just appies while in Victoria, but make sure you bring the gold card cause it will put you back a few dollars. read more

I had the Thai Green Curry Bowl and my companion had Rob's Crispy Chicken Sandwich with yam fries. The sandwich was supposed to have spicy panko breading, but there was no seasoning whatsoever (not even salt and pepper) it was sent back, and came back just as bland. The yam fries were way over salted. Even after brushing the salt off, they were inedible. The curry bowl was not much better: the rice was overcooked and mushy, the bok choy was slimy and I nearly choked on it, and the whole thing was swimming in unappetizing green liquid. I'd give this place a negative star, if possible. Very offensive behavior from the hostess. I was waiting in line for a table and after taking care of the party in front of me, the hostess completely ignored me and greeted the next guests. They were as surprised and pointed out that I was before them. At that point, she just looked at me and without saying a word, just raised her eyebrows. I was completely shocked at that point, and just had to leave. In hindsight, I should've stayed and said something (who knows) but I was so appalled and embarrassed that I guess my legs decided to react on my behalf. Not that it should matter, but I was well dressed and clean shaven, so it wasn't about that either. The great thing about Cactus Club is that you can always expect great consistency. Whether that be in Vancouver or on the Island. This particular location was actually the very first Cactus Club I had ever stepped foot into. This location is in a prime spot in the heart of downtown Vic. Which means you can always expect it to be busy. Thursday-Saturday evenings, I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan on coming in for dinner, because the waitlist gets really full very quickly. Just like other Cactus Clubs, the service, food, and drinks are all fantastic. Fun fact: this is the first location that I learned about dirty fries (fries tossed in truffle + chili oil), and I've been hooked ever since! This was also the place where I had my first bellini. So yeah, you could say I get a bit nostalgic whenever I visit this location, ha! The Tex Mex/Asian/Italian/steakhouse cuisine sounds like an odd mix up but is well done. They have vegetarian options which is a big thumbs up. Drinks were fantastic, and the food came out fast. Our waiter was good. The decor is modern and hip with amber chandeliers, brown leather seating, black brick and dark wood. It gets really loud in here. I saw TV's in the bar area and could see it getting louder. We had the beef carpaccio, which melted in our mouths. I had the hunter chicken which has four mushrooms and a rich demi glace, and it was spot on. My companion got the cajun fajitas, and he said they were great with a good amount of heat. We have been coming to this place for lunches when we come to the Royal theatre for their Pops concert matinees. Our favourite meal is the Rob's spicy chicken sandwich (picture of it in the photos listing). Good price, excellent fries, and the sandwich is stuffed with home cooked chicken. The sandwich is not very spicy so is fine for my wife who doesn't really like anything too spicy hot. And the coffee is really very fine - I tend to drink too much of it! I went for dinner with my wife at 5:30pm and was looking fwd to calamari and steak. I was very disappointed to see that Calamari has been removed from the menu. I ordered a steak but was told they didn't have any 8oz cuts left and was told that I could upgrade to a larger cut or a fillet but no offer to reduce the extra cost.
