Truthfully, I go for their crepes, but my friends are always bey happy with their other menu choices too. The staff is friendly and we never feel rush to eat & leave. This isn't a place you need to really dress up to feel you fit in. However, you also could if the mood suits you & still not feel out of place. Truly, I am happy that they even have tables on the main level that accommodate those with mobility aids. However, that being said, I am struggling to recall if there would be a easy enough way for a wheelchair or even a walker to make it to the main door. I'll have to remember to focus on that long enough before my next crepe eating bliss hits. As Cowichan Bay is a popular area to stop for meals, do plan to go in advance for parking. As even if there are a few spots for the restaurant, there isn't enough space to accommodate the full restaurant. If you are able to find a spot at the restaurant or are double parking at the restaurant (which is apparently allowed), it is good to let the server know what vehicle is yours. Beyond more than mention "I've parked my vehicle here", so a server can notify you if people need to be let out of the space if they're leaving before you're done. If you don''re not lucky enough to grab a parking spot right at the restaurant, you might have to go far up the road (sometimes almost to the hotel) or down the road (towards the parking area by the pubic washrooms) to reach any parking options. Definitely try it out if you are looking fit an option in Cowichan Bay. I know I'm looking forward to many more future happy crepe eating moments here with friends.

The ambiance was exceptional with great waterfront views. When I asked the chef if he was the chef he said "that depends". I am still laughing. He rocked it to say the least. The caprese salad was local and inspired by the outstanding ingredients as was the green salad. Finally the eggplant Parmesan with pesto noodles was inspired. The eggplant was crispy and the sauce was outstanding while the pasta a pesto was out of this world. The cheese crustini topped off perfection. Please note I take my eggplant Parmesan very seriously. Same with linguini Vongole. This place is not to be missed. They Clearly delivered 5 star meal and experience.

We can't really recommend eating at the Poets Cove Resort's 2 restaurants. Despite our server…read moresaying the food is "awesome," the food is only okay. The AURORA restaurant on site is only open for breakfast. The SYRENS restaurant located downstairs is open from 12 noon to 8:30 p.m. for lunch and dinner. We didn't try Aurora. There are only a few tables at the restaurant. Likely because it is not that popular. As for Syrens, we went only once and that was it for us. We tried the Saltspring Island mussels dish and the seafood chowder. The white broth in each did not have a ton of flavor. The people sitting behind us said the fish and chips are good. Instead of eating either at Aurora or Syrens, we would recommend staying at one of the cottages situated on the resort's property as each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and a barbecue. Bring and prepare one's own food. Particularly as there is a definite shortage of good food options on the island. As we were staying in one of the resort's hotel rooms in the main building, we preferred driving to the Copper Otter Bar & Grill to eat. The Copper Otter is located at the small shopping center on Pender Island. The Copper Otter Bar & Grill, on the days we went, was really busy for lunch and for dinner. Seems to be the place to eat at on the island. Next door to the Copper Otter is The Vanilla Leaf Bakery Cafe which was busy for coffee and pastries.

The first night my wife and I had scallops for appetizers and herb crusted Wild pacific salmon for the entrees. We both loved our appetizers. The shepherds pie was good although I found the cheese on top of the mashed potatoes was neither necessary nor authentic, but it was still quite good. My wife had the duck confit which she liked very much. The ambiance is one of a country English cottage which felt cozy and warm and the servers were personable and solicitous without hovering. I'm guessing as good as most of the restaurants in town (Hastings House lies just outside the main strip).

We skipped straight to entrees and enjoyed the salmon and steak specials, both just under $30. Loved that you can order wine in 6oz, 9oz, or half litre, but if they're going to have a steak special they need a Cabernet or a claret by the glass, something more full-bodied than the Malbec. Salmon had an interesting horseradish-flavored sauce that made for a good balance with the fish. "Greens" turned out to be a salad: lettuce and sprouts with dressing, not cooked greens. My steak came out medium well not medium rare, but they replaced it, no problem. It was a busy Saturday night and every restaurant we've been to on this trip seems to be having problems finding staff. Mashed potatoes were fantastic. Just the right amount of cream and butter (a lot, according to my wife) and with a bit of skin to make the perfect texture. The portion was large but I could have kept eating these til I popped. We had no room for dessert (unless more mashed potatoes were an option). Outdoor seating was what most everyone opted for, although the indoor dining room seats looked very comfortable. Tables outside were appropriately distanced and the garden is well landscaped to provide a beautiful buffer from the street. Wish our catmint would grow as well! Hats off to the gardener.
